Does anyone other than me dislike Christa?

I don't like her because of how nosy she was when she confronted Lee about him and Clementine in that abandoned place in episode 3 even though she kept her pregnancy hidden, thus possibly making her a crutch for everyone else to carry. Episode 4 she wants to vote out Ben and she wasn't even involved in it from the start. Episode 5 if you don't show your bite and act like a dick, she won't help you and that means she indirectly doesn't want to help Clementine. I wish Lee told Clementine that so Clementine can confront Christa on her part.

What are your reasons for not liking Christa?

  • Well, the only thing that happened that made me mad at Christa was that in my play through, Ben died, so the Walkie Talkie fell down the pit. I then said, leave it, which then gave Christa the idea to jump down and ruin everything, leading to Kenny leaving.

  • Yeah, it's as if Kenny still disappears or that Ben still dies. Choices my ass

  • I just didn't find her likable at all in Season 1, and even though she's barely in Season 2, I found myself hating her because of the way she treated Clementine. I'm just going to copy and paste what I said in an earlier thread:

Christa was a very smart survivor, but after the death of Omid, I think she looked at taking care of Clementine as not only a burden, but a moral obligation. She acts very coldly towards Clementine in the beginning of Episode 1, and if that's any indication as to how she treated Clem during those 16 months after Omid's death, then that would explain why Clementine had lost a lot of her spirit. Being around someone who blames you for the death of their husband/boyfriend and refuses to join other groups would definitely have a huge mental effect on anyone, especially someone as young as Clementine. Christa seems to hold a small resentment towards Clem, but at the same time, knows she can't just abandon a young girl like her to fend for herself, and like I said, that resentment seemed to have had a huge effect on Clem's mentality. So while she does try to take care of Clementine, she doesn't properly do so and fails to teach her anything of importance, such as tending a fire. All she really did was keep her alive, and that's it. The reason Lee has such an impact was not only because he kept her alive, he taught her how to shoot a gun, cut her hair so she can be safe, and actually acted like a father figure towards Clem, while Christa failed to act as a sort of mother type of figure. So this could explain why Clem rarely talks about Christa, despite the fact that she was with her longer than anyone. So in that regard, I think she failed, as she not only held the death of Omid over Clem's head the entire time, but failed to really provide Clem with any sort of care and didn't provide her with any useful survival tools compared to Lee, and that is why she doesn't really talk about her.

TLDR: Christa emotionally neglected Clem compared to Lee and made her feel guilty about Omid, so yeah, she failed.

  • What you said fueled my dislike to her. 16 months and can't teach her how to build a fire? Glad she got stabbed in the leg if she's like that....

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. Omid was okay but Christa... ugh. Her attitude "I guess you'll have to find out" when they first meet, and in the abandoned station "I hope you know what you're doing with her." I'm sure she meant well, but.... To be honest, I really didn't care about her whereabouts in season 2.

I don't get why people dislike her honestly.

I don't like her because of how nosy she was when she confronted Lee about him and Clementine in that abandoned place in episode 3 even though she kept her pregnancy hidden

She was checking on them to see if they were ok because of the loud noises that were emanating from the walkers that were attacking them. And as I remember it, it was never elaborated why she kept her pregnancy from anyone. So, it was most likely out of concern for Omid's wellbeing.

Episode 4 she wants to vote out Ben and she wasn't even involved in it from the start.

Does she not have a right to vote out potentially harmful group members that continue to set the group she was a apart of back? I mean, she was present when Ben left Clementine behind, she was there when he took the hatchet that was propped up against a door holding walkers back, she was definitely there for when Kenny lost his temper due to him finding out about, the way he put it, Ben having a hand in killing his family. Of course she was concerned about him making another mistake on the part of her or Omid's life.

Episode 5 if you don't show your bite and act like a dick, she won't help you and that means she indirectly doesn't want to help Clementine.

This must be a joke. Of course she wants to help get Clementine. But if the risk is too high for the reward; why put you, your unborn baby, and your husbands life at risk for someone you can't trust? And in any rate, she needs to be convinced to not go with you, Kenny needs to be convinced to go with you.

I wish Lee told Clementine that so Clementine can confront Christa on her part.

There wasn't much time for him to tell her anything bitter and callous considering he was dealing with a psychotic kidnapper and then with his bite that was slowly degenerating him to a walker and had to quickly try to rush her out of a walker horde while slowly getting weaker and more infectious.

What are your reasons for not liking Christa?

None. She is one of the more likable characters throughout both seasons in terms of her actions and will.

  • That's a writing flaw more than anything.

Looks like not even the writers gave a damn about her.

  • They really should, to be honest.

Two years in a zombie apocalypse with a new guardian at the behest of a former guardian is not something you just brush aside.

  • All your points are good and I may have been biased a little at what I said, however they will help Clementine if you choose Clementine to make her stay in the house instead of Crawford because Clementine shoots a walker that tries to eat Omid. Sure she doesn't trust Lee in those choices but it really makes it as if she won't help a little girl from a stranger that could do anything heinous to said girl. (Even if being little doesn't matter anymore) Kenny on the other hand can fuck himself since he doesn't see his bullshit and doesn't realize how helpful Lee has been (When neutral especially).

For some reason people like yourself and MetallicaRules are getting really hung up about Christa not teaching Clem how to build a fire. That's all well and good, but it seems like a pretty huge assumption to me, that Christa never taught her anything about fires at all. Christa says, "You should be doing this, not me. Tending a fire, so you can cook, and stay warm...it's something you have to be able to do, Clementine. Otherwise..." Notice Christa doesn't say, "Tending a fire, so you can learn to cook and stay warm." It seems more to me that Christa HAD indeed already taught Clem how to tend a fire in the past, and how to build one (at least from a lighter), and in this particular situation, Christa wanted Clem to practice tending said fire, rather than Christa doing it herself. In fact, Christa then does put Clem to the task of practicing this skill. If you think back, Christa leaves into the woods and says, "Just keep the fire lit; I'm going to get more wood," as if she assumed Clem already knew how to keep the fire lit. And you know what? Clem kind of did. As Clem, we next go through the motions of keeping the fire lit. >_____> Remember how we pull out that little lighter with the butterfly on it (to be fair, using a lighter is not the same as building a fire from scratch, but still) and then we have the option of burning the drawing, the log, or whatever? Clem clearly was at least familiar with her lighter; she seemed to know that you needed kindling to get the fire started as first she burnt a small paper. It was pretty clear she wasn't playing with the fire either, as a lot of young kids tend to do that, and can hurt themselves in that way. When burning the paper, she says, "Better, but still not enough," as if she knew how big the flames should be to cook their food. If she looks at the weasel thing, she can say, "The flames aren't high enough," and "This'll never cook." How would she know this for sure without someone to have taught her?

In short, it could be that Christa never took the time to teach Clem a single thing about fires. But I think she did, and I think she was just getting Clem to practice doing this more in this beginning scene. It's just a huge assumption that Christa didn't teach her this, or other important skills.

  • Even if she told Clementine to practice tending a fire, it should have been taught in 16 months. A day or two or at most a week Clementine would have learned it by now. She already taught Clementine how to suture a wound based off on when Clementine was doing said suture in the shed so tending a fire shouldn't be that much to learn in a 16 month gap.

Clementine would have learned it by now.

I should have said this obvious point before in a clearer way, but...Clem did learn it. She was able to successfully tend the fire with Christa not there, as successfully as Christa did, wasn't she? From that, it seems Christa taught Clem about fires to the best of her knowledge.

Same. I wouldn't say I dislike her, but her constant attitude really got on my nerves. I remember rolling my eyes so hard when she criticized Lee. It might have to do with how she reminds me of Lily, who also annoyed me.

  • Episode 3 she gave good advice from my point of view.

Episode 4.......ok, that was a bad derp on her part.

Episode 5, yeah also a bad derp, but ya know. Because injured Omit and all.

She still stayed with Clem all that time and didn't sell her out when put in tough situation. Unlike a few sellouts I can name who used to have a great fan base prior to that.

  • I don't like Christa, but I also do not dislike her. I didn't like how she confronted Clem and Lee in the abandoned building either, but that wasn't a big deal to me. I stood up for our venture and she backed off and all was well.

The only reason why I'm pro-Christa is b/c she's the one person who would've had to biggest impact (for better or worse) on who Clementine turns out to be...especially since the two of them lived with such tension b/t them for over a year....a year in zombieland is amazing and for Christa to keep the two of them alive she deserves way for credit regardless of whether her character was likeable or not
