The graphical style and aesthetic of the game is fine. I like games that have a unique personality to their art style, something that compli… morements the game itself, or just makes the whole product stand out; feel distinct. I feel TWD accomplishes just that. I would also argue that the game actually benefits by the fact that it isn't photo-realistic, but looks more like a living comic book. I'd say that, aside from the quality of the writing, the stylized nature of TWD is one of the things that makes it such a memorable and unique experience for me. One that stands out in my mind.
The graphical fidelity, though? Of course that could do with improvements. Higher res textures, higher poly models, etc etc. But they've slowly and steadily been improving on that over time as well. Look at a model of a character from S1, then look at a model of a character from S2. There's a definite improvement in the quality between them. Or hell, look at the blu… [view original content]
No?
Graphics aren't everything, especially in games like this. The game's comic book style is a reason it's so unique and that shouldn't … morebe changed just to make it more "realistic". Fixing animations however would be nice. Time and money should definitely not be wasted in graphics.
So all I am finiding is TWD shouldn't be improved because it fits the comics, well is it that big of a DIFFERENCE? It doesn't mean if it is based on something it should look like it.....
That's one big reason. it's actually counterproductive to try and have a realistic look if you can't pull it off entirely, many games did it, but they had the budget to use MoCap and other graphical techniques.
That being said,i think Telltale should expend more money on facial expressions, body language, lip sync and overall the animations within their own graphical style.

It may just be me but honestly, I think all of telltale's series range in realism. It depends on the thickness of the line that borders around objects I think. For example, The Wolf Among Us has a thick border and Game of Thrones has basically no dark line borders which makes it look more realistic. The Walking Dead is somewhere inbetween the two and I like it. Sorry if that was confusing. This really had no point in being here but I figure I may as well point it out.
In part, Telltale smartly uses a stylized and abstract presentation (like the inky comic art style in Wolf/Dead/Borderlands or the Oil Paining art style in Game of Thrones) to compensate for them not having the high end production qualities of a typical retail title that had a much longer time spent on producing it. However, despite this, I do agree with some people in that having a higher fidelity in some of the textures and having more fluid animation would be nice.
For example, I know that Game of Throne's muddied, oil painting art style is definitely a deliberate choice but even so the textures don't look detailed and sharp in some areas which makes some other people think the art style isn't as strong. When they get it right, it's pretty good, but even so I can understand how an outsider not used to Telltale's heavily stylized presentation would mistake it for an unintentional choice.
THIS is S1, look at the clothing , look at the beard , the eyes, the lines on his neck...
The picture you posted is from S2, look at the … morepines and everything i mentioned above
In fact, i'm pretty sure thats the face he makes right after saying "Vegas weekend?" on S2EP1
Who says we need improvements except you? Not every game has to look highly realistic, some games like to have a unique style and this is one of them. Improvement, no matter if you put it in all caps, is not needed.

Yeah there should be definitely room for improvement in the Telltale engine. The game looks great for what an indie company has to work with and it matches the style of the comics, but just a lot of little things could use finer touches. Animation had some awkwardness to it every now and then. I think it's pretty easy to spot the re-used character models and how about more color to the pallet.
There is most definitely a difference. However, that difference is on a technical level. They're both in the same style obviously, but the quality of both the textures and the model itself are much higher than the S1 counterpart. Also, the outlines, which I feel was a very worthwhile addition, as it helps invoke the comic style even more, and helps the characters stick out from the background and draw attention towards them.
Could TWD S3 benefit from technical improvements to graphics and animations? Yes, of course. Especially the animations. But you seem to be more concerned with the style of the graphics. And in that case I say NO. No they should not change the comicbook cel shaded style. It fits the game perfectly and more than makes up for Telltale's smaller budget. The slightly cartoon-y, exaggerated facial features allow for a range of emotion to be expressed in ways that would be impossible with hyper realistic graphics, without a large budget and top of the line mo-cap technology. And even then there's the danger of falling into the uncanny valley. Something that TT games manage to avoid.
You also mentioned possibly changing TWD's style to match GoT's and I have to vehemently disagree with that notion. I know GoT is going for an oil painting aesthetic, but to me it just looks like cel shading masquerading as realism, and it comes off as muddy and unappealing.
In short, no. Not everything has to be hyper realistic. This current generation of gaming could use a little more creativity and style in the graphics department.
I think it would be really cool to bring Glenn back to the game the last time we say him was in season 1with Lee it would be cool to se what happens with Clem
They can keep the style, but what I mean is any improvment is needed, I would rather have the graphics in the background of the forums I find them better than what we have.

I find Telltale's games to be interesting and fun.
However, I would love to see versions of TWD and GoT with more detailed, higher resolution textures. It would make the game seem more real and more immersive.
They are not going to get rid of the cel-shading and the comic feel I can tell you that much. Will they improve the texture quality and modeling? More than likely. But they are not going to suddenly change the art style of the game.

Sorry, still can't find the difference
Umm...for some reason I can't, & I also think there were less errors in season 1 than season 2 (less flying objects :P)
Yes graphics aren't everything but an improvment is needed, would you rather play The Walking Dead in this style or LIS (Life is Strange) style?
Woooo, not that kind of improvment but a GoT or LiS improvment
So all I am finiding is TWD shouldn't be improved because it fits the comics, well is it that big of a DIFFERENCE? It doesn't mean if it is based on something it should look like it.....
I prefer the floating alien man with eyes that can stare into souls and crazy chatting teeth.
But... season 1 was like refined stickmen. xD
Gives me the creeps :O
You mean the ZAMBIES or the characters, on an off-note are you excited for PERFECT PATIO STUFF PACK
The characters improved over the course of Season 1. Zombies, eh... the special ones looked decent. And YES!
That's because both pics are from S2.
Uncanny valley.

You're kidding me right? The 2nd one is from season 1 EP4
THIS is S1, look at the clothing , look at the beard , the eyes, the lines on his neck...

Telltale wanted it to look like the comics.
This style.
No it isn't, that's one of the promotional screenshots of season 2 before it came out...It uses the season 2 graphics.

Well still no difference in the graphics! (Opps, you're right it is from Season 2, but as I said no difference in the graphics)
Yes, and they did, but now we need improvments it reached season 3 and in the year 2016 an IMPROVMENT IS HIGLY NEEDED!
Who says we need improvements except you? Not every game has to look highly realistic, some games like to have a unique style and this is one of them. Improvement, no matter if you put it in all caps, is not needed.
I am not new actually, just would like to see some better looks
Of course you can, every opinion is valid and I agree with you
I was referring to other people new to Telltale's games in general.

If they would remove the black lines around them that is an enough improvment for me.
I think you are in the wrong thread
That's concept art not graphics. Lmao
No, improvements aren't needed, the upgrade we got in season 2 is enough.
I find Telltale's games to be interesting and fun.
