What if AJ died in Amid The Ruins?
So basically I've been wondering what could and would happen in AJ died in Amid The Ruins. I think it would be a realistic and interesting plot point and I would respect the episodes dark touch more if they killed AJ instead of Sarah. It bugged me how a frozen solid baby jumps back to life in a cheesey happy moment. Your thoughts?

It might've worked, except Kenny wouldn't have had the "what's best for the baby" hobbyhorse that drove him through some of episode 4 and 5.
Then he could have said "What's best for Clementine" :P
nah im good with Sarah gone.
i wish sarah was alive
i think it's generally accepted among the group that Clementine can more-or-less take care of herself. By that time, it made no sense to coddle her.
Eh, they already killed one baby, maybe they figured it would be a bit much to have AJ die too.
Yeah, I would have wanted Sarah, she was more interesting
I feel like possibly Sarah gets the baby killed or something? Which could create a huge tension with Carlos and the others.. if he lives in that "alternate" timeline
You Jon snow
Weren't they originally gonna kill off the baby?
Not much would happen considering no one was really attached to the little dude, and Rebecca dies like a day later.
There'd be a lot of crying and hopelessness from Becs. A lot of anger and violence from Kenny. A lot of self pitty and regret from Luke. Can't really think of much else.
Dialogue would've changed more, Rebecca probably still would've died i think. Idk.
They had an idea about an decision to leave the baby or not, but they scrapped it because they thought Clem wasn't ready for that.
AJ's birth right after Sarah's second death felt tremendously awkward. Everyone is happy the baby is alive, conveniently forgetting that a child died horribly a few meters below them seconds ago, even going as far as to forget that she existed for the rest of the episode.
AJ's birth also felt like a ham-fisted attempted to give the cast 'hope', especially when the baby goes on to survive constant exposure to the harsh cold since it's birth, takes only one bottle of formula that appears out of nowhere and is never seen being fed again, and the baby conveniently knows when to stay quiet to avoid attracting walkers in spite of just having been born and not having developed any sense of self awareness.
Personally I would have preferred it if a pre-established character lived over a plot device.
Looking back now, it's so ridiculous the way they handled AJ. Everyone died and this kid survives...and for what?
Was it only an idea? I thought files were pulled where Clementine put the hatchet through the baby's head.
I'm pretty sure it was a file where Clementine put the hatchet through a walker's head right next to the baby.
There was a picture of it, but I wouldn't know where to look for it again.
Right next to the baby? That wouldn't make sense. It was an animation file, the baby wouldn't have needed to be included. It would have been just Clementine, Hatchet and Walker. No baby.
Maybe they just wanted to make sure we remembered that we're looking after a baby while we're killing walkers?
I don't know why AJ was present in the scene either, but I do remember seeing that picture showing Clementine finishing off a walker with a hatcher, with AJ on the ground next to it, which is also happening on the same field from the 'Alone' ending.
For the plot.
The one you're thinking of is the actual alone ending. Clementine sets the baby down and uses the hatchet to kill the walker.
I'm talking about an unused animation file.
Ah, so there really was an unused animation of killing a baby with a hatchet? I haven't seen the Alone ending, so it's no wonder I got confused.
To have the purpose of being Omided in Season 3, i guess.
They should've had Rebecca give birth in episode 3 (I think she was supposed to). After A.J was born he felt like such a plot device. It made the story seemed rushed....Amid The Ruins would also focus on other things other than the baby being born...if A.J was indeed born earlier...I think it might have helped Amid The Ruins.
Uh, he meant there was an animation to kill a walker while clem puts the baby down to kill the walker but unused, sherlock.
