"Fear the Walking Dead"

Since The Walking Dead with Rick is so massively popular, AMC decided they need another Walking Dead series. Enter The Walking Dead spinoff, the first of many.

First off, I think the title is stupid. "Fear The Walking Dead." Seriously? It sounds so cheesy. Even "The Dead Walking" would sound better than that.

I think it would be hilarious if we see an effect begin similar to NCIS/CSI, as in thousands of spin-offs erupt, despite not needing it.

I can see it now~~~~ The Walking Dead: NY. The Walking Dead:Miami. The Walking Dead:LA. The Walking Dead:Texas. The Walking Dead:Washington.

The posibilites are endless!!!

  • I think the only thing that bothers me is they said it would explain how the outbreak started, which I feel like the comic should explain, not a spin off show

  • Agreed. Sadly, the comics have always been about how the survivors dealt with the aftermath of the outbreak, not it's origin.

  • It should of been called "The rising of the walking dead" or "the rising dead" since it is about the orgin of the outbreak

  • I'm not really gonna hate on it until I've actually seen it, and I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't care about the name. But on the other hand, I hope that this doesn't slowly lead up to more and more spinoffs of the show. As much as I love the genre, the zombie apocalypse story is being overdone.

  • I dont know it could be good, NCIS ended up with some spinoffs that I liked more, it just depends which character you click with more easily, to be honest I'd rather it show inbetween the pointless mid season break but thats just me

  • wtf????

  • "The Death Knell" or just "Death Knell" would've made a better title, I mean I understand that they probably gave it an obnoxiously similar title to the original because they want to make sure that fans remember/recognize it's existence no matter what, but still, they could try and branch away from it title-wise.

  • I agree, its not the best name for it. But it should be interesting to know about the origins.

  • In My Opinion, I think It might be really bad, Like, really really bad. But as I'm told, it tells the origin of how the Virus started, so I'll watch that much, But for people saying it'll, "Hold me over" until season 6, I'm Like, Bitch please.

At this point, I have Steven Universe, MLP: FiM, Daredevil, South Park, SAO II, Adventure Time, Game Of Thrones, and Telltale. I'm pretty damn sure There isn't anymore Holding over that I need.

  • Yeah, I always thought someone in the Original group or a comic character would explain, But I guess it'll be good to see how it happened, and Thank whoever did it for Lori's death.

  • I'm really excited for it! I live in LA so my dreams of The Walking Dead being set in CA are finally coming true!

  • Really?

Huh guess I'll have to check it out

  • I won't be watching it.

  • Actually, the comics will probably have a different explanation for how it started being different universes and all.

  • When is it gonna air again? I'm gonna need something to fill "TWD" gap till October. Other than the comics.

  • Let's hope the story is good. This is just my first impression, but I don't find the cast of characters interesting.

  • I think that this story is gonna be way more promising then everyone expects. Kirkman said that the theme of the show was more about trusting ur fellow man and working together to fight the virus, which is almost opposite of the comic (the show is a little more humane, but still it's ppl against ppl most the time)

I just hope their is a focus on curing the disease rather then scavenging, especially if it is during the beggining. I think it could end up being a better story overall, but you can't beat Lenny James and Andrew Lincoln at this point lol.

  • Well hopefully they focus on the drug thing also, cause going cold turkey during a zombie apocalypse is a shit sandwich

  • Don't be so pessimistic, unlike the actual show, Fear the walking dead might have a cure, and then in a sense has an actual direction.

  • I seriously doubt it's going to give us anything new with regards to the virus and its actual origin. Everything I've heard says it's going to focus on a family as the main characters, and we'll see the early days of the infection. One of the writers (or the lead writer, don't remember) says that part of the goal is to create a compelling story that doesn't rely on walkers, which stinks of season 2 of the main show. Not that that can't work, but let's just say season 2 sets the bar really, really low in that regard.

I mean, there's obviously never going to be a cure discovery, and unless Kirkman's changed his mind, we're not going to get the true origin either. If they try to make that a big focus, it'll probably feel like the current season of The Strain, where they're searching for an infection for the vampires, but everyone with even the slightest bit of knowledge of the original books knows that that's not going to go anywhere because the original story never incorporates it.

Maybe I'm wrong and there will be some new and awesome revelations, but I doubt it. That's just never been what the Walking Dead is about, and I don't see this spinoff series changing that.

  • Agreed. No one knows how it started and there's no cure. Not in the comics. Not in the games. Not in the show. And I think it should stay that way. Fear The Walking Dead gives us a chance to see it all go down from the very beginning instead of a month (or little less than a month) into it when Rick woke from his coma. If there ever is a cure discovery, it should be from TWD. Not FTWD.

  • Really? Well no one told Kirkman considering he's stated that The TV shows are separate to the comics. And considering that this series will follow the timeline of the tv show, and actually have episodes corresponding to some episodes in season 1 and 2, I doubt it. https://games.yahoo.com/news/walking-dead-creator-tv-show-001147583.html

I asked Kirkman how all of the stories fit together.

He said the television shows aren't actually a part of the same universe as the comics and video games.

"You could never argue that the comic and the show take place in the same universe, because Rick [Grimes] still has a hand," Kirkman said. "And in the comic they're never like, where'd Daryl Dixon go?"

The LA-based show "doesn't relate to the comics at all, because in the comics I've always focused on one group," he said. "But from the beginning of the show the one thing we've always heard is, 'What is going on here? What is going on there?' The intent of the new show is to expand that world a little bit and to show another corner of the United States and what's happening there."

And the video games, he said, are always drawn directly from the universe of the comics. What separates those stories is usually the region in which they occur and the time difference, he said.

  • Haha I actually didn't notice that, I just saw the post today lol

  • Guys I read Hollywood Magazine and they gave it 4 out of 5 stars which is a great start. They only said the dialogue could be better.

It's already been renewed for a 15 episode Season 2 and the series hasn't even started yet. Lol The same ppl who produce TWD are producing FTWD. Not all of them, but most of them.

  • For those who says that they hope this show will reveal the origins of the virus or something like that - it won't. They already said that it won't be the case and Kirkman never wanted to focus on how the outbreak started. He is stubborn (in a positive way) with this so I doubt this will ever happened and I hope it won't. I mean, I'm not that interested in how the outbreak started because with TWD fans can imagine their own story "How this all started?". Maybe it's a virus, aliens, goverment illegal experiments, new bio-weapon etc. but we don't know for sure and that's okay. :)

Anyway, Fear The Walking Dead won't reveal the origins of the outbreak. Season 1 will only show the very first days and weeks of the outbreak so we will have a chance to see how the civilization fell. Of course, not world wide but from the eyes of this family. Also, I can't wait! It's almost here guys! Almost here!

  • Sounds like the show is decent based on early reviews. Not great but not bad either.

  • By God walkers can play basketball now :O

  • There's no cure, period.

  • Looks good still not crazy bout the name though

  • First of all, I know it's up to robert. Second of all, Don't call me "Buddy boy". I hate being called that, especially people who I've known the existence of only for a few hours. Third of all, Mindsets can change. At any time he could decide he wants to make a cure, and it's happened before with many other writers, Buddy boy

That's up to Robert Kirkman buddy boy, and he already said that no cure will ever be found.
