Actually I think this is Telltales greatest strength, and weakness. They are great at making characters feel real quickly. There are a lot of great characters who have died. Some that I really liked, and some that I liked to hate. Killing off so many of them causes a lack of enjoyment, and also potentially great stories. Season 2 characters were weaker I think but most of the season 1 starting characters who died I think would have been great to see more of
I would pay big bucks to see this concept turn into a fanfiction.

You're all overlooking someone who could have been a potential new adult mentor to replace Lee, I'm talking of course about Pete.
The fact that Telltale guaranteed Nick's survival but mandated Pete's demise at the start of episode 2 simply dumbfounds me - Nick was barely more useful than Ben - it was Pete who would have made a far better companion yet Telltale's writers actually sat down and said: ''You know what, Clem will have a more invested relationship with Nick than she will with Pete.''

I had some time on my hands haha. XD And I'd been meaning to write a ficlet similar to that story line for a while now anyway lol.
Also your recent comments (well your comments from a while ago now on that other thread) on how you realize you kind of like Jane and don't hate her so much anymore made me happy. ;.; So for some reason that made me want to write it as well. XD Anyway I hope you liked it!~~
Luke? A strong character? Why? He was nice to the kid...as expected, wants to survive...as expected, has some tragedy behind him that we hear him talk about but never see...as expected. No defining traits or characteristics
Hahah. You're in for it pal.
One of the most defining traits from Luke was, of course, his kindness, but one less explored by the community is his softness when it came to ending the lives of others. For example, Carver. Bill beat the shit out of Luke, and considering his (and the group's) reasoning for leaving the community and Bonnie's phrases "He and Luke butted heads" and "You've been in your fair share of pissin' matches too", it's more than likely that Luke was physically hurt by him before they escaped. Not to mention that Bill threaten the lives of both him and his group, he hurt Kenny (and Clementine determinately) badly, killed Reggie, and basically kidnapped his group. But despite all of this, Luke couldn't even bring himself to kill Carver and even argued against it. He shows a great deal of humanity to someone who'd shown anything but that.
And I'm pretty sure Luke's most defining trait is indeed kindness. Sure, he argues with Kenny, but to be honest, who doesn't? I wouldn't even count disliking Kenny as a flaw.
Omid made some jokes but...what else?
It's not like all the characters need to have a huge effect on the plot or game. Just because he's the guy that chums people up, or says things at inappropriate times doesn't mean he's gotta have an big role.
Sarah? People really wanted to see Sarah made it out? Why? The game isn´t even brave enough to go full compromise with the "special person" thing, and doesn´t seem like she was less clever than other characters, in fact, she´s just Duck 2.0.
I'm going to level with you. How could you explore a person's full personality in the span of a week or two? We can't forget that the characters are literally trying to survive the apocalypse, it's not a sitting circle for Clem to make friends. There wasn't much interaction with Sarah and Clementine to be honest, and when their was, Sarah was either panicking or trying really hard to get Clementine to be her friend. But she isn't useless to the plot, not one bit. In fact, Clementine's arm would have gotten infected had Sarah not given her the peroxide. Which she gives to you regardless of being rude to her or not. And her panic attack when Carlos died caused a heap of chaos within the herd which got people killed. I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it did affect the plot greatly. Not to mention her possible death in the trailer park created character development for both Luke and Clementine.
Why would I want to see more of Luke, Omid, Carlos, Sarah, Ben or any of those when the most likely thing is that we will encounter those "personalities" again and again?
This wasn't really the point of seeing those certain personalities again. The thread was about characters having potential, that potential to be beneficial to the plot, other character development, or their own character development that could have made anything greater than it already was.
Really? I may be the asshole in town, but I do believe most of the characters people mentioned are just blank.

Sarah had great potential. She had the potential to adapt to the new world, over come her anxiety, learn survival skills, learn how to use weapons, to move past her father's death and succumb to the reality of him not being there, and learn not to be afraid of walkers. Not to mention that it's highly likely she learned some medical skills from her father, and use those skills to help her group members or help with AJ.
She is the Duck of season 2. She is the innocent creature that doesn't belong in the new world.
She lives behind her rose tinted glasses and the second her dad died life became too hard.
Probably the only character with 0 potential.

Aw thank you ;u;
Yeah. Sarah really did have a shit ton of potential, that's kind of why I loved her character so much. She had the potential to be more than the other shitty 2 dimensional characters in Season 2 were.
Probably the only character with 0 potential.
I'm just gonna stop you there.

That doesn't sound like "0 potential" to me.
Season 1 was better. Telltale actually put some heart and soul into that, as opposed to S2 which didn't try to stand on its own merits but benefit off the success of the original.
I don't understand why people keep criticizing season 2 and its character's. If anything from my personal opinion I would say that season 1 and season 2 are just as good as each other.
I don't know if I posted. I don't want to appear inconsistent.
Surprisingly, I think Kenny had potential, especially in Season 2. The writers should have given a moderately different version of Kenny instead of the same old Season 1 character that appears to never have changed one bit. I expected him to be more rational and not resort to his retarded logic. He even repeated the boat situation, instead it's a FUCKING truck. Him losing Sarita can be the same and all but if Clementine chose to be harsh, then the relationship should have strained further.
That's just my opinion on Kenny's hypothetical change.
You know the worst thing about this? All this wasted potential happened in season 2. By contrast, any semi-developed characters deaths had some purpose and effect on the story and characters.
Omid's death was criminal really. Huge potential traded for a cheap emotional hit. Need to learn from that.

Omid, Christa?, the dog (could of been like Clem's Dogmeat), Michelle? Think her name was. Even though she was a baddie, would be interesting to know how she was surviving on her own, she seemed pretty young.
Why do so many people here have such similar opinions on Luke?
I didn't find him offensively stereotyped and lazily designed like Carver or Sarah, but he was such a shallow and just middle-of-the-road character that I couldn't get a footing on him at all and the fact he receives almost universal acclaim is strange considering he really didn't have much depth to him.
I don't know, just something I've always wondered.

Look in the internet for any videogame or movie series, there will ALWAYS exist those that believe that number one is best, "is when everything started" ,"is when they game/movie really show what it was about", etc, etc.
Is just something that happens and will keep happening forever. Just read some of the comment "explaining" how season 1 is superior, most of them just launch concepts and words that sound big but has no meaning. Just be happy to be able to enjoy Season 2 as much as it was intended rather than being one of those "everything was better yesterday" freaks.
I don't understand why people keep criticizing season 2 and its character's. If anything from my personal opinion I would say that season 1 and season 2 are just as good as each other.

Clementine is the character that grows, if everybody grows the same way her journey loss meaning, what you propose (and most people in this thread) is more akin to Fan Fiction, a poorly written story where everybody turns into a Mary Sue/Jack Sue. I rather have GOOD writting, and that means that not everyone will change and turn into the best zombie survivor ever, you need people that gives up and people that die stupidly. And like I said, we got plenty of "survive and stand on her/his own" characters already, one more will be overdoing it.

The cop at the beginning of the game.
Carley. I really wished she could of had been apart of this series longer. I really loved her character.
I'm playing through S2 again and it's surprising how much I like Nick, considering I didnt care about him the first time i played
Now I'm annoyed knowing how pathetically they're gonna kill him off
Did you mean, the entirety of Season 2?

A lot of bad choices were made by the writers of season 2.
Sarah and Nick are the only 2 dead characters I saw that had actual potential imho.
