  • I was a tiny bit reluctant to play this miniseries, especially since I don't watch The Walking Dead, but I'm actually starting to get pretty hyped up after seeing the previews. Plus I need something to tide me over until season 3, haha. I have a lot of hope for the series, so I'm crossing my fingers that I won't be disappointed. I won't lie, after playing Amid the Ruins my expectations in the game franchise were lowered. I really hope Telltale can make it up.

  • They said "No knowledge of Walking Dead". That doesn't mean "No knowledge of Walking Dead, expect events from the comics". ;) No knowledge = nothing at all.

You mean it won't spoil the events from the comics?

  • 3 days to go. I hope this is worth it as I just bought another £15 game yesterday and can't really afford two in such close proximity but... Eh its telltale.

  • Are we there yet???

Note though that Job stated that save files weren't required, not that they wouldn't be used. Save files weren't required for Season Two and 400 Days either, but they could be used if the player had them (plus Russel's story in 400 Days had an appearance (of sorts) of a character based on player choice).

I would like to, but since save files from the others are required I somewhat doubt it.

  • The game will be based on the comics, not the show, so either way you don't need to watch the show ;>

  • I am looking forward to this game even tho i still have not read the comics or watched the show only played the games, my mom and sister are really into the show but i just could not get into it. i blame it more on i'm not the biggest fan of gore and it's more tame in the telltale game so i don't mind it as much.

  • It will be interesting to see the perspective of someone who has no history whatsoever with the character and how she comes off to you.

    That's a lot of bullets.

  • The TV series is slowly getting back on track. The last Episode was intense.

  • I never found the show boring but whatever, opinions are opinions.

  • Season 1 was awesome. Season 2 was shit. Season 3 was meh for the most time. Season 4 was pretty good. Season 5 was okay. Season 6A was really awesome up until Now. Then it turned into kind of a shitshow, but No Way Out redeemed that part, and I'm excited for the Savior storyline.

I liked season two. I know people hate on that one the most, but it had some great moments. I don't mind a slower pace, a lot f shows that I love have that, like Better Call Saul. Season 5 was one of my favorites, so yeah, opinions. Ive been a fan of what Scott Gimple, as a fan of the comic, has done with incorporating so much of the comic storyline. I hate the Negan character (I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan though, Papa Winchester!) but I am interested to see what they do with the Savior storyline also.

  • I'm just annoyed I don't like them, it's not fair :( I want to like them and I can't.

No, you're not! It's totally okay if something doesn't grab your attention.

  • Is it because the characters aren't interesting, or because of the mood of the story, or you don't like comics in general?

Side note: We are having an off-topic conversation in the middle of a waiting thread.

  • Maybe because it's more apocalyptic. From what I've seen it's constantly bumping into bad people and it being these horrible gangs who do horrible things, and I don't have a drive to read those things where people are having war games with communities. The characters as well, despite all I've read on wiki and seen of the comics, I haven't really gained a connection with them, even to most of their tv show counterparts. I enjoy the show here and there [especially Season 1 and 4] but there's episodes where I get frustrated with it. Like Alexandria for example I became irritated by how they kept trying to force conflict or have zombies in every episodes for just for drama and ratings. I guess it just personal taste.

Side note: shhh, maybe if we whisper they won't notice us o_o

  • That could be it. The comic is by far the most horrendous medium of The Walking Dead, and I agree that it's hard to connect with some of the characters. The show does try inserting action here and there, as otherwise a lot of people will complain that it's too peaceful and boring, but others notice that it looks out of place.

Side note: it doesn't look like they've seen us yet.

Different Seasons have separate teams. Michonne is not affecting Minecraft, and vice versa.

  • True, but from a marketing standpoint they might have wanted to spread out their release dates and focus on hyping Michonne's premiere before releasing news about the Minecraft finale, I'm thinking.

  • Yeah, Laura even once directly said they won't release two episodes on the same week. Still, though, they aren't against releasing episodes two or three weeks apart, which is a short time. It seems they are just spending more time on Minecraft in general anyways, which is surprising considering how quick other episodes were released.

What I don't like about Season 2 is that almost nothing happens. You can watch five Episodes in a row, and most of it will be characters talking, but most of the time it's not even exposition or serves character development. Many things felt forced, although that has always kind of been a problem with the show. For example, when something finally does happen, it only happens because Hershel went out for a drink. That's what sets the course for the rest of the Season. After the shootout, they sit around and discuss for Episodes on end what to do with the kid. I know it's kind of a bandwagon thing to hate on Season 2, but I genuinely hate it.

Season 5 just never really sparked for me. There were some cool moments, and I can appreciate that they put more effort in the special effects, but storywise it was meh, especially the first half of the Season. Alexandria was actually pretty good, in that I also include the second half and not just the location.

Season 6 has an awesome beginning that really leaves you on the edge of your seat because you just want to know what's going on. It's also well paced for the most part. The only Episode I didn't like from the first four Episodes was Thank You. Killing off all the side characters because they serve no use anymore, and then leaving us on a pretty obvious cliffhanger (I mean, who really thought that Glenn died?). Now was ok. Morgan's flashback was good, but bad timed. The rest was just talking and wasting time, same stuff seen a thousand times before.

No Way Out was a near perfect Episode. It had talking, but not too much. It had lots of cool walker slaying. It had meaningful deaths, but not too many. And, most importantly, it was really close to the comics. The only thing I hated was the Glenn fake out.

I'm really looking forward to Jesus, Negan, Hilltop etc. A Larger World is one of the best Volumes in my opinion.

  • Yeah, I know it's happened before with releases happening a week for each other. I think it's because it's a premiere and a finale that might be a reason for wanting more promotional lead time. As for working longer on Minecraft, it did strike me odd since they were releasing previous episodes on a regular schedule.

  • Well, at least Michonne is so far planned to commit to a regular schedule, which is super nice!

It was originally announced as DLC for Season 2, but now it's a standalone series, no Season 2 or prior save file required. It will cost 14.99 USD or the equivalent.
