Telltale has defintely improved!

Still haven't seen the full episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne but there is defintely improvements! Firslty, the animations aren't awkward and are smooth (I hate the fire animation at the beginning tho, doesn't fit the art style) and the enviroment looks so much better and I HAVE ONLY SEEN THE FIRST 10 MINUTES! Season 3 is, no doubt, going to be astonishing :D

  • Graphics are irrelevant to me at this point. I'd like them to focus more on interactivity and or character development. It has the same flaw Season 2 did in that aspect

They've improved a bit, however the engine still really needs an update. I also still feel choice has a lot of work to be done on it also

  • With how everything looks, no doubt Season 3 will look awesome.

  • For me, if Telltale games begin to look good, that's a bonus. The reason I got hooked on their content was for the stories they told and how well they told them. This was a bit lost during Season 2 for several reasons I've gone over before. I'd rather see these issues fixed in Michonne and Season 3 over improved graphics.

I'm glad I'm a pessimist at this point... lol

  • The old engine is definitely holding them back, but the storytelling is SO much more effective than season 2.

  • Defintely, Telltale something really lacks but from Season 2 to Michonne I really see improvement. Better than nothing I guess :p

  • Really? You haven't seen anything improved from Season 2? Have you seen how awkward the animations were when Clementine was bit and she tried to heal herself and the needle went crazy? Or how about when she was walking in the forest and the plants were just messy? Ok

  • I said before that it would be better if they used the same engine used for Life Is Strange but everybody went crazy of how it should stay the same so I am not going to open that topic up :p

  • Haha I wouldn't say that, I love the art style of this game and the cinematography is so different to life is strange, but they should make a telltale tool 2.0 of sorts..

  • Improved Animation does not equal good gameplay... sure looks ok, but that doesn't mean that main attributes of the game are going to be improved (exp. choices, story, scene angles, etc.)

Also Telltale puts a lot of effort in first episodes of series... and later they go downhill...

  • Never had a problem with the art style, it seems to get better looking over time. However the animations can be a bit awkward from time to time, but overall this seems to be a massive improvement form past games. Especially when it comes to QTEs. Used to be a massive lag when beggining a QTE, but now not so much (on console).

    Choices / Characters / Story > Graphics.

Telltale has a great artisic style and doesnt need to be changed in my opinion anyway. Just maybe update what it's running on.

  • Please enlighten me of when did I say I prefer graphics over story?I only said the graphics improved, nothing else

I wasn't aiming this towards your point. People on here stating what they think about the graphics/story so I just made my own point. Just me simply saying that whatever the graphics are like I'm gunna always plays telltale games. Don't have to sound so mad

  • If graphics don't matter why aren't we still all playing Duck Hunt on nintendo? They do matter, and superior graphics at least show the attempt to improve. I hope that they have the same attempt with story

  • They should jump to the Unreal Engine 4. It's free to use, very advanced, only share like 5% of profits when the game sales. It's a very adjustable engine that could still mimic the comic book look they have I think.

  • Agreed that I do see improvement in the mini-series graphically and narratively over season 2 atleast. My only dislikes would be some of the recycled tunes and background sound tracks that were used in season 1 and 2. Would be better to produce mostly newer themes in the game and that the gameplay times still feel quite brief and can be completed in about 90-100 minutes. About 150 minute episodes on average for the walking dead content would be ideal for me.

  • Are you sure you're not a cat, Deltino? Because Omid's cat is the only one who speaks your language.

  • Dang, you really want to play for a whole 2 and a half hours?! I'd probably be okay with that, maybe just for the first or last episode, but it is pretty long... I'm ok with 105-120 minutes

  • The animations are literally the same. Same crouching, same running, etc.

  • I'd be delighted to play a good walking dead episode for that long but not much longer than I'd say 180 minutes maximum. But could also mean longer wait times between episodes unfortunately.

I think this game is working as a preparation for S03. technically speaking. the animations are noticeably better. more polished (even her hair now moves). But as people said above, I also think that their engine needs a big update. TT games always froze a little bit, or has little fps drops, the loading screens are especially bigger on Michonne series.

..they will probably optimize the game over time. but overall i think the engine needs a rework.

  • Not necessarily the animations themselves, but the way it transitions from one movement to another is a little bit smoother.

  • Yeah but they've had the same engine for way too long, it cant run properly on old consoles any more. Its still glitchy often on other things too. It would really benefit them to upgrade, the dont have to change the look.

  • tftb episodes had 2 hour run times. it seems telltale are dead set that walking dead episodes be short.

  • I don't think any women have written a TWD episode for TTG yet, im glad that they gave them the opportunity. i mean it makes sense, Michonne is a girl.

  • Will have to see what happens with season 3, might be something new for that.

Most game companys should update thier engine at least every few years anyway

  • When it comes to Telltales, I've always enjoyed their graphics. I think the latest Walking Dead episode had really clean imagery and colors. The controls felt easier to use compared to back in 2014 TWD season 2. Its changed a lot, but is still awesome and kept their roots.

It also works the other way around.

  • I have no idea how the game plays on consoles, but usually there's issues on there [the Tales finale on the PS3 that seriously bad loading times]. I do hope they're learning to use a new engine for the future, and if they're not they really should.
