if greg had told the truth ie. said him and michonne had just met minutes before randal caught sam and greg, it may not have exonerated michonne but at least it isnt selling the lie that michonne and pete took the bag.
that is why he is throwing her under the bus he is lying and implicating michonne in something she didn't do
I didn't really see it as much as him throwing Michonne under the bus, but more due to the fact that the two of them never talked, and thus … morenever got their stories straight. Michonne spins one side of the story to Norma, but since Greg had no way of knowing what she said, he tells his own side. I don't think his intention was to use Michonne or to get her in trouble, he was just winging it and hoping for the best. If anything, the situation probably played out exactly how Norma expected it to; get both sides to tell the story, knowing that they'll both tell different stories, and try to weed the truth out of one of them by using them against each other.
i think that was a really bad choice for telltale to give the player especially as a first choice the option to kill yourself, because it instantly made me think of it as a game or a piece of fiction, because what could happen 1) you die, game over, restart, or 2)something stops you from dying for plot armour reasons, i just think it takes you out of the immersion just because of the choice let alone the outcome, luckily it was at the beginning so the game could recover, but bad start in terms of choices really
I have a question... and it's been bothering me ever since I played Ep. 1....
Why would anyone choose to shoot themselves? I mean, unles… mores you're suicidal, why would you direct a character to do this? I get some people will metagame and just want to see what happens, but from the perspective of this game, where presumably most people are making decisions based on what they would do given this situation, why would anybody opt for suicide?
It just... bugs me. There's something very weird and disturbing about TTG giving us this choice. Maybe because I have been suicidal before, but for me, the choice was easy. I've recovered from this depression a long time ago. For me, the choice of whether or not to kill yourself, even hypothetically, must always be no. Giving us the option, especially at the beginning of the game... is very unsettling.
I don't think Randall seems like the guy to murder people for dumb reasons, especially not for killing someone they don't care about. My bet is that Zach and Jonas are going to run away from the group with Michonne, then part ways.
I'm assuming, since Zachary is determinant, it seems pretty obvious that Randall is going to kill him in the first few minutes of the episode for being a fuck up.
Can I show my choices and talk about them a bit too? Thanks.
I don't know why I did the first one, I knew nothing would happen and Michonne would just be magically rescued outta nowhere, but I expected at least something different like Michonne going on another short hallucination or at least walkers crowding them if Pete saves her but NOPE, fuck you! Pete just pops outta nowhere in the last moment to stop Michonne, that was really cliche
As for that, I obviously chose the ladders because they're way safer than being trapped in a dark room. But I heard that if you choose to go through the window it reveals more about the massacre that has happened there so I might try that route later.
I tried to play my Michonne as a rebel (almost every PC that falls under my control gets played like that :P) so it was obvious that I would do that, but that didn't turn out so well so I decided to be more rational next time.
I felt a little empathy to both Sam and Greg (especially Greg since he was panicked at the time), I told the truth sometimes but most of the time I either stayed silent or told Norma to fuck off, so we partly shared the blame.
I was so tempted at the time to let Sam actually shoot him, but I saw that Zacharia was truly scared from Randall and didn't really mean to shoot Greg, and he could be helpful too later on (mostly not) so I stopped Sam at the last moment. Plus Randall is the one to blame here not Zack.
I didn't try to chase after them since I knew someone would come out of that door and that would've probably made things messier.
Seemed like the most reasonable thing to do since walkers wouldn't be able to reply back.
I remember a similler choice in TFTBL were Fiona is offered help from Vallory and you choose to accept it or not, I chose to not do that back then but that didn't look so good so I decided to do it differently this time.
Yeah .. I regretted that later.
AND THAT LAST ONE IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT!! I chose to bash his head in real good with a pipe but the game counted that wrong, I even screened it if you don't believe me
Yea I didn't really play this episode with choices I personally would make. While seasons 1 & 2 gave me a fill in for my own ideals through Lee & Clementine, Michoine is an already established character and thus I try to play her as faithful to how I perceive her being in the comic. That said, I actually don't think Michoine would try to kill herself. She still has people to live for. Them being mainly Carl, Rick, and Ezekiel.
That's a good point.
I do get this is something Michonne would probably do. So I suppose it is how you interpret the game. Are you Mich… moreonne, or are you... you playing Michonne? Both are very different, in that regard, but I can get behind that. A game open to interpretation is a very interesting game indeed.
Thanks for your answer, that helped me understand this a lot better.
*Lowered the gun
This is the second time Telltale tried to make us think we can kill characters who are Canon to the comics/TV show. Firs… moret time is Ramsay from GOT, we had an option to stab him. So no point pulling the trigger.
*Used the ladder
I'm not sure why this is a major choice but whatever.
*Didn't ambush Randall
Told Sam this was a dumb idea, didn't want to make anything worse
*Sold Greg to Norma
This jerk is such a liar and was using me to escape for himself. I didn't even know him, why should I defend someone I've only just met who did nothing special for me.
*Stopped Sam from murdering Zachary
Still didn't want to make anything worse but I got a feeling that he is going to kill himself.
Can I show my choices and talk about them a bit too? Thanks.

I lowered the gun (So Michonne fights the walkers trying to survive, but then she decides to kill herself...PULL THE TRIGGER IS BULLSHIT)
I used the ladder (I think is stupid using the window, knowing that the inner part of the ferry could be full of walkers ready to kill you)
I stayed still when Randall came
I told Greg was the liar (i didn't like him when he appeared and i didn't owe him anything, so i didn't see a reason to took the blame for him)
I saved Zachary (I tried to save him, but he died, so i had to replay to save him. I like him and I know he didn't want to kill Greg, and killing him would cause problems for Sam)
Lowered The Gun
I have never watched the show or read the comics so i don't quite understand why Michonne was depressed so not knowing exactly who the two girls were i didn't want to pull the trigger plus suicide is just bad post-apocalyptic or not.
Through The Window
I am playing my Michonne as a badass and badass avoid doors wherever possible
Didn't ambush Randall
I had only just arrived and my first impressions of their community was good admittedly Randall was a dick but Norma from what i had seen seemed democratic and i didn't really trust sam as she and her brother just had a gun to my head so wasn't big on getting on the bad side of what could've been perfectly reasonable people without reason to trust Sam.
Shared the Blame with Greg
Now this is a point where i feel the games writing fell because i was trying to be very honest with Norma i told her about mine and Pete's group and how we and Sam had only just met. When Greg lied about how long we were together i called bullsh*t but when he said there was A LOT more of us there was no choice where i could hammer home that we just met so I took the blame because i didn't want him to get shot but i didn't want to do that.
Tried to save Zachary
Zach was a good guy he isn't a fan of Randall's way of doing things but doesn't have the courage to stand up to him i know he killed Greg but it was because Randall pressured him and for that reason i see it more as Randall killed Greg but instead of using a gun he used Zach as a weapon classic assassin play where if someone is hired to kill someone do you go after the guy who was hired or the guy who hired him i say take the person who hired them out
Can I show my choices and talk about them a bit too? Thanks.

Lowered the Gun: Just didn't see Michonne going through with it given that she still has Ezekiel, and Rick, and Carl around. She might consider it, but I doubt she'd go through with it now when she could have in the past, and didn't then.
Up the Ladder: Just seemed smarter at the time. Didn't think about how crappy the ladder actually was, more about the fact that Zombies can't climb.
Didn't Ambush Randall: Despite the fact that I hated the guy from the moment I meet him, I didn't think Michonne would jump to "I want to kill these guys," so soon. Plus I didn't trust Sam either.
Shared the Blame with Greg: Told Norma we'd just meet, and lied about being alone with Pete. Told her we were "Just in the area." Let Greg get hit for lying about knowing us, but figured Michonne wouldn't want to see Greg's brains blown out so confessed to lying when the gun was to his head.
Let Sam Shoot Zachary: Seriously screw this guy. What a weakling. There is no reason he should be alive. He would only serve as a liability if he lived. Either he'll run to Russel first thing next episode, or he'll cry and complain the rest of the time. Sam deserved to have her revenge.
If you save Zachary, the blame for everything that happened basically falls on him. If you kill him, the blame falls on you and Sam. It looks better if someone else is holding the proverbial smoking gun, if you get what I mean.

Off topic, but I'd really like them to reduce the 'major' choices to three. First two choices were just lame and the episodes aren't long enough anymore to stuff in 5 major ones.

alot of the choices in teltale's games are more about effecting how characters react to you then changing the story. which was one of the things season 2 fell short on.
my choices btw
dropped gun
ladder
did not ambush,
shared blame
let sam shoot him

you known its really rare to see someone who plays the game more morally since ever since season 2 people have gone apeshit and mostly dont care about any character other than theirs
* Lowered the gun. That's not who I am, and I imagine that's not Michonne either.
* Went through the ladder. Didn't want to potentially run… more into a room full of zombies.
* Ambushed Randall. Worth a shot, though I guess it's a bad idea to make a psychopath angry. :V
* Shared the blame. Tried to help the kid best I could.
* Stopped Sam. Revenge is wrong, murder for murder is never okay, especially not in the heat of the moment.
As for additional choices on the TTG site:
* Chased after Sam. Thought she'd run into trouble if I let her go.
* Opened the locker. Didn't want to hurt whoever was inside unless they were a zombie.
* I refused the drink cuz fuck you and your fake politeness lady. Though the game said I was being rude. Come on, son.
* Kept my boat a secret. I didn't realize that I had, but there you go.
* Used a screwdriver to kill Greg. Didn't know anything else could be used, and evidently so did 99.7% of players.
I'm not even talking about consequences. I'm saying the main choices could at least be difficult ones, that make a topic for discussion. Sarita for example died in any case but you could at least argue about what was the better thing to do concerning her arm, at least at the critical moment. But who would command Michonne to end her life convinced that this was the right thing to do? They should flesh out and reduce their choice situations, that's what I'm thinking.
In just about every Telltale game I try to be as merciful and kind as possible, because that's how I am in real life. 8D; Like, I won't be a TOTAL pushover, but for the most part, I try to be a good person. Even in times where I try to be a jerk, it doesn't last long because then I feel a major disconnect from the game.

The majority choices are all the moral ones, as usual? I dont get what you mean, in fact none of the choices in michonne have been that bad either way. I cat think of an evil option they have given us yet.

Sam deserved to have her revenge.
What revenge? Sam killed the wrong fucking guy, if anyone has to die for what happened to Greg, is Randall. Sam had this all coming.

Always in majority. I'm too mainstream.
You just made my day
Alright

She killed the exact person who aimed a gun and pulled a trigger and killed her brother.
Yes but Randall pushed him, he never meant to pull the trigger.
