If you went with Jane back to Howes, Howes can get overrun, Jane can die (please Jane die), the other family can either escape or die, and Clem can escape with AJ, find Wellington, and they let her give them AJ because he's a baby (and they could be jerks and not let Clem in).
If you went with Kenny to Wellington, and Wellington lets Clem and AJ in, Clem can wind up leaving Wellington but leaving AJ there (maybe she hears a lead on Christa and needs to find her).
If you went with Kenny to Wellington, and Clem refuses to abandon Kenny, Kenny will probably die right near the beginning, and Clem will bring AJ to Wellington and ask them to take AJ.
If it was just Clem and AJ on their own, Clem can get to Wellington, give them AJ, then go out on her own again.
The unfortunate thing is the comics pretty much prevent this. There could be a time-skip of a few years but I think it'd be difficult for us… more to grow a bond with a virtual toddler. Because Clem was eight when we were introduced to her she already wasn't completely dependent on others and was able to think and speak for herself... I'm worried a toddler might just be a bit of an annoyance or at least a lot less engaging than Clem was, but perhaps Telltale could pull it off. I think it'd be best for AJ to either end up dying or remain a baby, and definitely not be the key focus of Season 3. Telltale would be retreading old ground if they did that.
This is exactly how I feel, but not the suffering part(But I know you were joking) The main character has always been Clementine even while we were controlling Lee. Lee's main focus was keeping Clementine safe, and her story can't be over yet. She's the only character I ever really cared about in a video game.
In addition to wanting to see Clementine, I also would like it if they did not make it a point to kill every single damn person. I mean look at Season 2: every person Clem met ended up dead. Luke's killing was almost an afterthought like "oh shit you guys, we forgot to kill him off too, let's come up with something quickly, like having him drown". I understand in the ZA people die but if you just kill off characters gratuitously like this was some horror flick, then that takes away from the excitement. I like familiar faces and seeing some continuity. Otherwise why bother with it at all, you may as well make it like 400 Days.
Also, Clem ending up with a fucking baby man. That was soo wrong. How is 12 year old going to take care of herself, let alone a zombie whistle? Now here is someone i think they should kill off pronto season 3 (if they bring Clem back). No babies. That is already annoying on the show.

It would be hard for uh... you know, Telltale to make Clem a teenager already. It's just not that simple to do time-skips. They are limited by Robert Kirman's comic books.
Looking at timeline created by Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comics, Clementine can be at least 14-15 years old. She was 8 years old at the beginning of the outbreak. If I'm not mistaken then current events in the comics are happening 5-6 years after the outbreak, I think. Maybe even 7, at the most.

Clementine should be the protagonist of season 3 because all that needs to be done is to make season 3's begin with what ending was chosen in season 2 and the fact that her story isn't over and it would throw off the whole story of the walking dead if clementine was ditched. Hopefully she will appear in season 3 or people would get confused if clementine gets ditched.

Please, tell me - when I said that I would want another timeskip (especially massive one)? I never said that. I just described how far Telltale CAN go with the story at this point. Honestly? I hope that even if there will be timeskip between Season 2 and 3, it won't be that big. Maybe only a few months? There was winter coming at the end of Season 2 so Season 3 could start up durign spring or summer? That would be cool. New outfits, environment, etc.
It needs to be an adult as well, do it like tales with two protagonists. I want to be the actual leader of a group this time around. Not an in the air thing like Lee needing to suck up to someone to get majority vote or a lone wolf. I want to be the boss like Rick, I want to deal with the reality of winter and do all the bad shit you have to to survive. Maybe we can lead the Washington group this time. Clem could be used to see the citizens perspective.
I agree. I actually feel like she's wearing downt he potential of the story. She's gone through so much that it's unrealistic and her development has stagnated.
They are lazy to even make some different outcomes. I would love to see season 1 and it's different outgoings. Like straight up to Carver Camp or Wellington or even Virginia and use the big houses as forts.
people just need to accept and get over the fact that telltale kills off determinant characters and makes different choices lead to the same… more main plotline. thats just how they make this kind of thing work period end of story. even if clem is not the main character in the next season they will still have clem end up in the same spot regardless of endings. all of this "waah my choices dont matter waah" nonsense is just unrealistic.
What... I have been following the game series since 2014 and since when was there a telltale thread such as this? Can't believe I never knew until now. I hope it's not too late. Clemmy is what Master Chief is to Microsoft and Mario to Nintendo. You can't continue with the series name "The walking dead season 3" if the protagonist is completely different even if it is in the same universe. It is like releasing a Super Mario game but have Luigi as the main playable character. Although Mario might be in the game but not playable it just isn't the same nor will it feel right. Ever since season 1 finished, I couldn't get Clem and Lee out of my head for at least 2 months, expressing just how powerful character connection is in the game. No game has ever done that to me before. We nurtured and protected her through season 1, experienced the torturous and cruel world with her in season 2, now it is only right to help her with AJ and aid in further progressing her survival skills.
Dropping Clementine would be like losing a friend without the chance of a proper burial/goodbye
I hope her story is over too, I mean, I like Clementine as a player character and think she is full of potential, however, I do feel as if Clem is weaker due to her age. Lee was one tough SOB, but Clem is only a little girl, she needs a few years to grow until I can think of her being a master zombie killer, or at least fast forward until she is at least age 16 so I can feel like a badass zombie killing expert.
However I do feel as if Clem needs to stay in TWD, I mean imagine if Luke Skywalker was not in the next movie after a couple of movies previous, one of the fan favorites, Obi Wan Kenobi passed the torch on to him. There'd probably not be a very spectacular fan reception, so in conclusion, I think Clementine should stay as our protagonist but TT should fast forward on her age a little bit or at least make her more like how you'd expect a little girl's capabilities to be like.
I read the whole discussion as well. and i would not let TTG do that. if (for example) you save kenny. and in season 3 when your on the road. (if you go with kenny after being at wellington and getting rejected) some car just drove straight ahead for clem. and you would have one second to pull her away. but everyone who plays the game fails. and they later cut that out like the "shoot mike" thing. i would lose all intrest in the game. i would still play it. (what i play i must finish). i would not play it anymore. i thought about it the other day. it sucked. so....... i hope TTG never does that.
I've been replaying Season 1 and 2 recently and since hearing these new Protagonist rumors, I have some theories. As much as I would love love LOVE Clem to be in Season 3, which will make me make newer choices to build up her character, TT will probably not make her the protagonist in S3. Here's why: First of All, Replaying S1 and S2 made me realize that even being in control of Lee in S1 most of it was about training and educating Clem and with S2 it was still about building up her Character and most of her charasteristics were built up by our choices. She is 12 years old meaning she is a teenager now and most of her character has been built up. So what I'm saying is that if we get a new Protagonist in S3 it will be a character innocent and lovable like Clem which his/her story will be be tied up with Clem! But what would Clem do to you if u weren't controling her anyomore? Will she help or abandon you? That ALL depends your choices u made for Clementine in previous seasons. The person u developed and taught stuff and made choices for ,is now going to judge you (The New Protagonist AKA you in S3) based on how u raised her...
Personally, I think Clementine is an interesting character, but not my favorite. I think Clementine does have a lot of potential, but she needs to have strong supporting characters surrounding her, like Kenny for example - especially since like Clementine, he's been with us since the get-go!
I liked the dynamics between Lee and Clementine in Season 1, and the dynamics between Kenny and Clementine in season 2. And I think Telltale should keep going with that! I personally would love for Clementine and Kenny to return for Season 3, even with Clementine not as the protagonist.
NOBODY is saying to throw away Clementine. Simply saying it's not FUN playing as Clementine. It ruined Season Two in my view. I hated Kenny but it would have been a hundreds times better if he were the playable character. If you can find me a walking dead game as good as Telltales then fine I'll play that but guess what you can't because Telltale is the only developer who gets to make the walking dead games like this.
Personally, I'd like to play someone other than a child in The Walking Dead Season 3. Season 1 and 2 were both heavily centered around her, and I'd like to see changes to prevent the series from becoming "stale" (subjective matter, of course). The ending of Season 2 can, in my opinion, be viewed as Clementine's closure: she is either surviving alone with AJ, surviving with that other girl (forgot her name) or ending up in a safezone/surviving with Kenny, waiting to get a place in the safezone. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd actually really like to play someone "less good" than both Clementine and Lee. A bandit, perhaps ? Or a member of a group resembling that of Negan's ? Whichever decision Telltale makes, I'll still enjoy their The Walking Dead experience.
The special thing about Clementine is that since she is a child and still hasn't fully developed her character, making good/bad choices for her is like making your own choices if u were in a apocalypse. For example If S2 Protagonist was Kenny and since I knew from S1 that Kenny is a crazy lovable bastard who can be an asshole sometimes, making nice choices for him wouldn't feel real at all. Telltale should not forget that Clem gave us the feeling that we are herself in the game and if Clem won't be in S3, it will be a big disappointment for the TWD fans. #TeamClem
It might be crazy, but I did use to write stories and fanfics so just hear me out. A good bit of TT games has you control multiple characters (Even TWD 400 days does that) They said TWD3 would be longer with a new angle. What if you get to play as Molly, Christa, Lilly, Jane/Kenny (if either are alive in your game) and they're all in different places. Like, Molly doing her thing solo. Us finding out where Lilly went and what became of her. Christa looking for Clem (Maybe being injured since we heard a gunshot when she ran but never saw her die, putting her in same boat as Kenny when he sacrificed himself for Ben/Christa in S1). Ok so we jump between each character (or maybe get to choose who to play as? But I doubt it... you can't choose in most the others.... well 400 days you could choose which order ..... but that's kinda different) But say Molly, Lilly, Christa, and Kenny/Jane (if alive) eventually form a group. Molly would know Christa and Kenny and it'd be a reunion. Kenny would know Molly, Christa and Lilly which the latter would cause tension for the group. Christa would know Kenny and Molly but not his past with Lilly. Jane wouldn't know any of them and would have no idea they all know Clementine. The group at some point find Clementine and AJ (if she went solo, or stayed in Wellington) Or maybe Lilly finds her first (Rumors that Lilly is leader of Wellington) Or if she's with Kenny/Jane then the others find the 3 of them all together (Clem, AJ, Kenny/Jane) and maybe we learn more about unanswered events. Kenny discussing how he survived the incident of season 1, or Jane flashbacking about what she did after leaving the group (before returning). Christa detailing what happened to her unborn baby (which mysteriously disappeared). And us learning what did happen to Lilly after she was abandoned/stole the RV. And this new group of familiar faces go through hardships (with the new family included if you took Jane path and did not turn the survivors away). I dunno.... it could be interesting to run across old survivors with unfinished potentional. Plus the group would vary depending on choices made in Season 2, proving choice DOES matter.
I really hope she stays as the protagonist, although it'll probably be tricky for Telltale to work out how to connect all the different endings. The problem with playing as a new character with Clem returning as the deuteragonist would be that we'd probably just revert back to being her protector, we'd be Lee just with a different name and face.
I just think that Molly is just a one episode character, besides it would be random if we were playing as Clem, then out of no where play as Molly, nothing leading up to that, but just out of nowhere
The special thing about Clementine is that since she is a child and still hasn't fully developed her character, making good/bad choices for … moreher is like making your own choices if u were in a apocalypse. Great thread. I also think she should be protagonist again. Clem is really at the heart of the game and therefore its her story.
Clementine is my favorite character in anything ever and I'm not ready to say goodbye yet. Long live Clementine!

I kinda agree on getting rid of Aj...Clem needs to be able to focus on herself. I like Aj, but not for Clem right now.

Honestly it felt like TWDG's heart and soul has been absent since 2x03.
But its more WHY? would you want another massive timeskip just to get to the end of he comic canon so you can go no further.

clem had her time as a pc. she works better as someone's moral compass judging you then as a playable character.

Agreed.
