Did you like the constant drift away from reality ?

During each episode the screen flickered and you often got swept up into Michonne's imagination/nightmares of her past life. Did you find this a nice new edition to the game or was it annoying to always swap between reality and illusion ?

  • It kind of bothered me in episode 3, I knew she was haunted by her past but geez.

  • Too many random jump scares

  • Damn rascals scared me in the house upstairs. lol

I didn't mind it. Certainly didn't annoy me. It was part of Michonne's psyche and I'm glad they addressed it further in this mini series. She was at the boiling point of her mental stability.

  • I got annoyed by it alot... I mean yes it is adds an interesting element to the story but they did it too much imo. It bothered me the most when she hallucinated during intense moments. When there was nothing going on I thought it was nice but for the most part I disliked it.

  • I didn't really have a problem with it. I can easily understand as the problems of Michonne all around her became intense, the hallucinations did as well. Especially since kids became involved, it would obviously draw parallels with her own.

  • No, I didn't. The writers weren't even subtle. I get it writers, she misses her daughters. So stop rubbing it in out faces so goddamn much and let us play the game!!!

  • Agree, they overdid it..

  • Yes, I did. They managed to show how Michonne was stuck in her own memories (and being literally haunted by them).

  • I was cool with it because it's very close to what happens in real life. You can't control your hallucinations.

Yes, they can get annoying. Yes, they're gonna be in your face all the time. That's the point and there's nothing you can do about it. +1 point to Telltale for having the player experience being in a schizophrenic's shoes.

  • Psychological horror is best horror, but only if done right. It was done "eh" in the Michonne miniseries, which is a shame because a lot can be done with it if you know what you're doing rather than boring generic jumpscares.

  • no it's repetitive as hell and way too predictable.

  • And +1 to you for recognizing it ;)

  • @Firewallcano summed it up pretty well in the finale choices thread.

    Kids run past hehehheheHEHHHEHEHEH

    oh fucking shut up

  • They made me jump every time they appeared in the house, haha

It didn't bother me at all. It made sense for her visions to become more and more frequent. I loved that by episode 3 it got to the point where even while just exploring the hub her children would vanish in and out of her reality. 10/10 from me in terms of realism. Also another 10 for her visions to not just disappear at the end, it's never that easy to just forget and Telltale showcased that perfectly.

  • It was an okay idea and I appreciate them trying to give the playable character their own story. However while it annoyed me in the first two episodes it was really bad in the finale. The kids show up constantly, if they had just had them right at the end that would have been fine, but they appeared way too much.

At times, yes. At other times, no.

Episodes 1 and 2 handled the hallucinations well. The first half of episode 3 felt like they were overdoing it a bit. I had no problems with the hallucinations coming to a head during the final half of the episode, though. If anything, the hallucinations getting worse during that part of the story makes sense, given that the stress levels would be through the roof at that point. Not to mention that smoke inhalation and lack of oxygen probably isn't helping her case too much.

  • Tbh, it started to really get on my nerves because it felt like a job to get Michonne going. So I had not problem to leave them behind when I had to say goodbye. Of course I feel bad for Michonne but it took me out of the game and not like putting myself into the protagonist's shoes as I usually do, because it made me feel more like her protector, her babysitter so to say, too much pressure to not let her flip completely. I know it's meant to make you feel out of control since her hallucinations are out of control, but it got on my nerves. Still loved the series soooooo much! :)

  • I thought they were helpful in the sense that they keep you inside the psyche of Michonne. They did for me, anyway. If somebody says that they were annoying at times, yes they were, and that was the whole point. Michonne is dealing with this on a daily basis. After all, this is a role-playing game, isn't it.

  • this is a role-playing game, isn't it.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I wouldn't call it that.

Horror? Adventure? No wait, those are genres.

What would you classify it as?

  • It scared me a bit in Episode 3, but it just got annoying eventually.

  • it was fine in the first two episodes but it just got ridiculously annoying in episode 3

  • It was really not that good, I feel like the game could have went without it. I liked the very last flashback but that was it, it sort of just became filler and almost as if Telltale was just testing how hard it was to jump between dream and reality scenes.

Those pesky ghosts don't know when to stop. Demon spawns.

  • I didn't have a problem with it. Well, maybe a little in episode 3, because the flashbacks and hallucinations got crazy excessive. But I also think her constant confrontations with her past in episode 3 was a very appropriate way for the climax of the story to reach its peak.

  • I really hated that, it was so creepy, if I wanted to play a screamer I would have played a screamer, I won't say that those part of the game were shit because the plot of her daughters was fantastic, but a crazy Michonne is not the Michonne I like.
