What did the traitor blame you for doing in your playthrough?
If I remember he said these things to me:
- "Refusing to kiss Ludd's ring, even though you knew he'd retaliate!"
- "Flagrantly defying Gryff, and leaving Ortengryn to pay the price!"
- "Taking the Glenmores to Highpoint, and leaving the front door open to the Boltons!
So basically he blamed me for not kissing Ludd's ring, standing up to Gryff, and bringing Arthur to Highpoint.
What things did he say to you?

Regardless of what you do, he will blame you for Arthurs death
I know lol, but bringing him to Highpoint is different.
I pretty much did everything Duncan (traitor) agreed with on my second playthrough, but he still went traitor and blamed me for Arthur
I got the same as the op. Duncan basically criticized me for not kissing the Whitehill's asses
I got the two first and he criticized me for taking Royland to Highpoint.
I like to make some good chuckles by imagining Duncan blaming me for following his advice.
Duncan betrayed me and got butthurt I didn't submit control of my house (how dare I?)
My list is almost identical to yours. I brought the Glenmores with me but I also took Royland and he seemed more annoyed about that so didn't mention me taking the Glenmores. Here's how my scene played out (because I'm bored)-
(D)uncan- Oh my lord, you scared me half to-
sees the report
So you know. I didn't mean for you to learn this way, but it's done now.
(R)odrik What'd he offer you? Land? Gold? A lordship?
D- He didn't offer me anything
R- So you turned your cloak freely then?
D- What I did, I did for your own good. For House Forrester. For your father's legacy!
R- And what about Gared? You sent him to the Wall for this house!
D- I sent him there because I had to. Believe me I didn't want to do any of this
R- WHY DID YOU DO IT AT ALL?!
D- Because you're reckless Rodrik! Just as Ethan was, choosing that warmonger Royland as his Sentinel.
R- Ethan was a boy.
D- But you're not, and you've been endangering this house since the day you got home.
Refusing to kiss Ludd's ring, even though you knew he'd retaliate.
Flagrantly defying Gryff, and leaving Ortengryn to pay the price.
Taking Royland to Highpoint, when the day called for diplomacy.
And now? Getting Arthur killed?
R- Enough Duncan!
D- You're not a leader, you're a wounded soldier trying to prove he's still a man. I'm actually trying to save this family! Everything I've done, I've done for them. Hate me for it, but it's the bloody truth.'
R- And the North Grove? Did you tell them about that too?
D- No, they've never even heard the name. I kept the secrets that mattered.
R- The only thing that matters, is that you swore an oath to obey me. And you broke it
D- I swore to obey your father, he commanded respect, all you command is violence. This House is doomed with you in charge, and you know it. Hurts me to say that, but I wish you never crawled off that corpse cart.
R- {Strikes Duncan} Shut your fucking mouth.
D- As I said... [spits]'
(L)ady Forrester- Duncan how could you?
(S)er Royland- My lord, Gryff's gone. Someone helped him escape.
R- Was this your doing?!
D- Ludd was going to ambush you at the exchange, I did it to save your life.
(T)alia- But Ryon!
L- Duncan, I trusted you.
Guards arrive
D- Let's just get this over with.
S- What do you want me to do with him my lord?
Rodrik draws his sword
T- Rodrik you promised.
D- Kill me, and I won't be able to help you save Asher. He's in danger Rodrik.
S- What'd you mean?
D- I know Ludd's plans. Spare my life and I'll tell you everything
L- Please Rodrik...
S- Perhaps we should hear him out.
T- He's only saying that to save himself.
D- Whatever you decide, temper your anger with wisdom. If not for my sake, then for your family's.
Rodrik Lol nope, [Kills Duncan].
NOTHING. He literally just skipped the determinant blaming scene.
Dat ending tho
Like we talked about yesterday, Rodrik's and Duncan's dialogue felt far more emotional than Royland's version.
Try to compare when Rodrik say "Enough Duncan!" and "Enough Royland..." There is a remarkable difference.
Also there is an extra tearjerker, considering that Duncan's voice actor also voiced Gregor Forrester. Rodrik is betrayed by his own father.
Who was your traitor?
Once again, we're on the exact same page here.
Watching other playthroughs where Royland was the traitor and felt it was missing... something.
That what the line where I realised the Duncan scene (imo) was far superior.
With Royland, Rodrik sounds very stoic and emotionless saying 'Enough Royland.'
But with Duncan, Rodrik yells it and you truly get the sense of betrayal in his eyes. Also notice the emotion in his voice, he is honestly upset and shows his sadness as a man he knew as family has done something so despicable.
I didn't even notice the Gregor thing, nice catch.
It really feels odd that Rodrik sound so stoic and emotionless in Royland's version, it is almost like that they wanted Duncan to be the traitor, thus they put more effort into that scene.
But I have a theory that Rodrik reacts differently because his Sentinel's personality have an influence on him. With Royland, Rodrik is more passionate and emotional. With Duncan, he reacts more calmly and stoic, have a better control over his emotions. Not the most perfect theory since we tailor Rodrik's personality, but it might be possible that his Sentinel's personality is reflected on him.
That theory makes pretty good sense to me.
Call me crazy but to me it seems as if Telltale are subtly hinting that Rodrik alive with Royland is the right way to go.
Look the the screenshots for Episode 6-
There is nothing from Asher's story. Those scenes are only in Rodrik's version. Also notice the Sentinel in the background of the first screenshot. That's me thinking that they are subliminally saying 'Psst! Royland is the best choice for Sentinel and, by extent, Duncan for the Traitor.'
I might be reading into things but I feel like they mean something.
They also did the same thing in Episode 4.
It is rather odd that out of the two, with Duncan being the most diplomatic, yet Royland is the one who is chosen to go to Highpoint in this promo pic.
I am not saying that Rodrik and Royland is the right choice, since we decide and tailor how the story goes, but it does feel like that Telltale is favoring Rodrik and Royland.
Hmm... that is curious indeed.
This was one of my favourite scenes.
"Kissing Ludd's ring when you knew we had to show strength."
"Bungling your betrothal to Elaena, which cost us our most important ally."
"Taking Duncan to Highpoint when what you needed was an experienced soldier."
I was suprised how many times I angered Royland without realizing it. It really got to me when he said "You'll trust anyone who makes the right noises." Because I loved Royland and he was right. I trusted him without a second thought because he said inspiring things to me and about me.
Losing the betrothal, refusing to kiss Ludd's ring, defying Gryff, and getting Arthur killed.
Yeah, Duncan had an earful for ol' Roddy and he wasn't necessarily wrong.
I honestly can't remember, I was busy laughing and "??¯_(ツ)_/¯????"ing after finding out it was Royland that I didn't really listen to what he was saying, though it was likely something about submitting to Gryff and getting Arthur killed, etc etc. I was so sure that the traitor was not one of the two possible sentinels, that would have been way too easy. But here we are, and that's what they did. I was honestly thinking it was the Maester since a) it would have been a better twist and b) we hadn't really seen him since like episode 3 except for when Gryff beat him up, and for all we know he did that to keep suspicion off him and/or because Gryff is just an asshole. My next suspect was Lady Forrester (she wanted to ensure Ryon's safety right?), then Duncan, and then Royland was the last person I'd suspect even though he held the grudge for not being my sentinel. I don't know, it just turned out a little ridiculous and a little too cliché.
My traitor was Duncan, and he blamed me for:
In my second playthrough it was Duncan. I agreed to him almost all the time and in the traitor scene, he just skipped the determinant blaming
My traitor was Royland, I think he blamed me for every single decision I made as Rod? Kissing Ludd's ring, submitting to Gryff, taking Dunc to Highpoint, bungling my betrothal to Elaena, getting Arthur killed (though that wasn't exactly a choice)... I may have forgotten some.
Besides Arthur's death, Royland betrayed me for taking Duncan to highpoint. Just for taking Duncan to highpoint. Like are you serious?
I guess he really wanted to go instead!
You're weak, you're weeeak, just like Ethan was, making Duncan his sentinel!! Ethan was a fool, and you've been making fool choices too, since the day you've crawled from that corpse cart. Letting Gryff you beat you in the ground, without a shred of dignity. Bungling you betrothal to Elaena, doesn't matter how either of you feeel, her father will never let you marry her now. Going to Highpoint without any protection! Taking DUNCAN to Highpoint, when who you needed was an EXPERIENCED SOLDIER! Hell you even managed to get Arthur killed! You father would be ashamed! Hate me for it but it's the bloody Truth. I wish you've never crawled off that corpse cart, for you're a cripple who can barely hold a sword. Asher knows how to act, just like you did when you still had a spine. All you do now is limp between defeats. And now kill me, and Asher dies too
Wow, you got a good memory.
Royland betrayed me. And he blamed me for choosing Duncan as sentinel; Taking Duncan to Highpoint; Not taking any soldiers to Highpoint; And having Arthur killed.
An interesting fact about my playthrough is that even making Duncan my Sentinel, I always desagreed with him about "not angering" the Whitehills. I knew that I should show strength. Of course I also knew that a direct approach would have us all killed, so that is why Duncan was my Sentinel.
