Stupid question (Heads up: Vernon's status)
Why does TWD wiki has Vernon's status as dead? I mean his death was NEVER officially confirmed (all we know is that he and cancer group got seperated and nothing about him being actually dead was ever mentioned) and when I tried to change his status to "unknown" I was nearly banned for it. Any ideas folks?

No idea. I don't really go to that wiki for editing, and from the sounds of it I'm assuming that they're very strict with adjusting information without consent.
Personally I believe that Vernon isn't dead either, since the rest of his group never really states that he was dead, just implied that he ditched them with the boat Lee's group found.
I dont know, really the mods there dont let you change some things. Their uptight about some things.
I can't lie, having done some editing on that wiki, there's a lot of stingy people on there. Either you try to edit high-profile articles, and someone throws a hissy fit over it and you nearly get in trouble, or you try to edit the pages no one seems to care about, which tend to have a group of idiots editing them. It's kind of hard to win.
Well, that's strange. Just yesterday a user updated a Fear The Walking Dead character's article from unknown to dead, and they quickly undid the edit, because "a mere line from another character isn't enough evidence." I believe the same happens with Joyce and Vernon, though they keep it as dead, and Joyce didn't even say he died. How does this double standard even exist?
I just know that their status classification system is messed up. If they see somebody be bitten or devoted, but they don't die and reanimate on-screen, they label then as dead, for some reason.
Well, on my playtrough all it's know is that he was last seen by Ben when he stole the boat, nothing about being dead.
Did you play "400 Days," the DLC for The Walking Dead: Season 1? Exponentially chopping it up, the episode is divided into five stories and a prequel, and in each of those six chapter you play as a different character.
One of the stories is about Shel, a woman in her mid twenties, living at a gas station along with her teenaged sister Becca and a number of other survivors. Among these survivors are Boyd, Joyce and Clive, the three remaining members from Vernon's morgue crew—the ones who stole the boat. When everyone is confronted with a moral dilemma, Joyce will remark that "the last time [that we trusted strangers] we lost Brie… and then Vernon with that goddamned boat!" This implies that something happened, and they lost contact with Vernon, opening up the chance of him being dead.
I didn't actually played the DLC ( I didn't have enough money to buy it ;-; ), but I saw a playtrough on youtube and I hadn't noticed that, thanks :v
I edited Hershel and Glenn's status from "Unknown" to "Dead" because the game and comic are set in the same universe, and we know what happens to them. Hershel dies in Issue #48 at the hands of the Governor and Glenn dies in Issue #100 at the hands of Negan. I edited them, and someone changed it back because there "Wasn't enough proof."

I don't believe he's dead either. I always assumed that he just took the boat for himself and abandoned the rest of the cancer survivors.
Go ahead. I say edit it back and explain the canon to them.
This is same with Merle still having alive status in Survival Instinct since we know that game is canon to the Show.

I believe that Vernon intentionally abandoning Boyd, Joyce and Clive and taking off by himself would be very out of character move, to be honest. I don't see that happening.
First of all, he knew them, their families and their struggle before the apocalypse, and they are all shown to be close to one another, because they were all part of a support group and all had had cancer. After the apocalypse started, he trusted them—plus Brie and the other five who didn't make it—enough to tell them about his plan to escape the community of Crawford. He became the leader for those who survived, and was even shown taking care of a sick Joyce. He trusted them again with his plan of stealing the boat from Fivel's mansion, and they effectively carried it out. Why would he leave them behind? That'd leave him alone, with nobody to watch his back. And he was shown to have an emotional connection with each of them.
I believe it's a lot more likely that they somehow got separated, and Vernon or the trio didn't have an option other that leaving the other party behind. That would explain why Joyce said that they lost Vernon. Are we even really sure that he told the rest about Brie's death?

in the walking dead 400 days in shell's story one of the members of cancer group talked about vernon's death when they wanted to decide to kill that robber or not.

She never said Vernon died, just that he was lost, the same way Kenny was 'lost'.
I wonder that as well the Wiki status says dead but if you read the article it then goes on to say he escaped with the boat and his fate is left unknown. So I am confused as well.
For what it's worth, I—very crappily and publicly—messaged the person who undid the edit that proclaimed Vernon as unknown. I'm waiting for a reply, but the user has made more recent edits in the wiki, which makes me think that he's not going to answer.

The context in which she's saying they "lost Brie" is that she died. So I can see why they'd think the same about Vernon. But I'm just not sure if the Wiki is taking "context" into consideration when they declared him as dead, despite there being a chance that Joyce just chalked up Vernon as a group member they had "lost", as in they weren't in the group anymore due to reasons.
Play the 400 hundred days in s1 there they confirm he died ( and I am glad he is dead )

Better yet, telltale should have had them make a quick cameo in the michonne series. Something! I mean they aren't dead if I know the characters.
If they are dead, telltale needs to take control of the wiki and make changes accordingly when it comes to their content. It shouldn't be a mystery this close to the next season. We need some sort of parameter, no more Kenny-Jesus bs

They should have given us a walker Vernon in the Michonne series.... boats and the coast and such were involved so it wouldn't be a stretch to find the good ol boat stranded with walker Vernon...
Or at least, Telltale could confirm that his status is unknown, or dead or whatever, so that his article can stay like that for good, with the addition of the link to the comment where they say this.

im pretty certain, but no 100%, that he was mentioned as dead in the 400 days DLC. i think you have to free the captured guy to hear it.
It's been a while since I last played, but when one cancer patient mentions how when they decided to steal the boat that's when things started to go south and they lost Vernon, the implication, as I interpreted it, was that Vernon was killed sometime between the boat theft and when they arrived at the gas station...like a domino effect of bad karma. I don't think he just took off as he could've done that before they got the boat.
Alive or dead it doesn't really matter because we will not see Vernon ever again.
