  • I'd be disappointed. I love the hype no matter how long it may take between episodes, if the season was all released at once we would talk about it for a week or 2 and barely bring it up again. Having it episodic allows people to speculate and talk more thoroughly about an episode rather than shove a handful of thoughts of what you thought of the season in general which more people are inclined to do.

Though i would like it if the start of season 3 kicked off soon after we last saw Clem, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there's a massive time jump. I can see us playing as Alvin Junior around the same age that Clem was in season 2, and there'd be opportunities for nice nods to how Lee looked after Clem in season 1 if Clem's raises AJ for years.

We need Clem to be reunited with Christa in season 3 too. I wouldn't mind if that happened years after the events of s2.

  • hey! welcome :)

Hey guys, finally got around to saying something in this thread

  • i really want to see christa too. just hope it won't be as familiar to how we saw Kenny, it would be predictable.. plus i think it was confirmed that there is a 2 yr jump. but will we start in the past and gradually to the present? who knows. they did not even confirm that clem will be the main player, just said that she will be in it... so we don't know but i hope there will be news soon!

  • The time jump wasn't specified, all they said was that it'll be pretty close to the present timeline in the comics. Take that as you will.

  • Woaah there was a massive jump in the comics after the last big conflict ended. Taking into consideration the 16 month jump in season 2, i can see AJ possibly being around the same age that Clem was in season 1, if they're planning on keeping him around that is.

  • There's no way AJ will even be close to the age that Clem was in S1. Clem is 8 when the outbreak happens, she's at least 11 when AJ is born, and the current comic arc (which is close to when S3 takes place) is 4 years into the apocalypse.

Carl is 7 in issue 2 and 13 in issue 127. I forgot that the time jump into volume 22 was 2 years. I was thinking it was a few, or several so we wouldn't play as AJ, but if we play as Clem he'd be old enough for us to teach him some things that don't involve killing.

So I'm guessing you haven't played Story Mode, which is fair enough. The main character you play as, Jesse, you can choose the gender of, male or female.

  • @IronWoodLover Oh, really? That's neat, I guess! They do need two voice actors for each version of Jesse, right? At least it would be easier to do that in that specific series, since they are block people.

Now that we are on this topic, really unrelated to the the thread, but what did you think about the series? I honestly am under the impression that it's lacking a solid plot and deep characters, but I realize it might just be bias.

Me personally? I'm not a huge fan in all honesty. Plot and characters are a bit ehhhh to me personally, but that might come down to personal taste more than anything. But gameplay-wise, believe it or not, was pretty great. Episode 2 has some of the most significant story branching Telltale has done to date, and besides that, the series has a simple but unique combat system, puzzles make a comeback, more unique interactive elements are introduced, such as chase sequences where you can move around freely in order to dodge. Even though most of these additions are simple, they really help break up the monotony of the standard QTEs we all know and love (QQQQ+E). Oh, and it has quite a few hub segments, too, which is nice. It's just a shame that I couldn't get into the story or characters much. Oh yeah, and you can't talk about Minecraft without mentioning the fantastic soundtrack. Seriously, if there's one part of the game that I think everyone can agree on, it's how good the soundtrack is. Jared didn't work on the soundtrack for this series unfortunately, but the people who did? Oh man, they knocked it out of the park.

If you don't like the idea of the game, that's fine, but I would at least save comments like that for when you actually looked into the game a little (and/or played it). Considering you not only have not played it, but also didn't even look into the game enough to know that you could pick your version of the playable character, it seems like you don't really have a lot to base that assumption off of.

As it is, it seems like you are just scapegoating it because it's Minecraft, but I realize it might just be bias. ;P

  • I did publicly recognize that I might be biased, and I implied that I might be holding a prejudice against the game. I was asking for other people's impressions, so that I could know what they thought about the plot and characters, in order to get rid of said bias.

And I thought it was clear that I hadn't played Minecraft: Story Mode. Didn't I all but state that I didn't know about the alternation of the protagonist's sex? You said it yourself.

I'm not blindly critizing this series, if that's how you took it.

Yeah, I was aware you weren't directly criticizing it and had not played.. I was mostly just pointing out that it seemed a little unfounded to reach that conclusion solely from guessing instead of looking up reviews/videos/etc to affirm or change whatever opinions you had. Still, I get your point and it's good that you were open minded.

I'd say the series is pretty OK. Nothing great and nothing awful, although if the next 3 episodes are as good as its fifth episode I could imagine its second story arc being really good.

I did hear that they're releasing a sixth, seventh, and eighth episode, though I don't really know, are they going to continue the same storyline, or are they a DLC of sorts?

It's latin for something to the effect of "unknown by the unknown", I think?

    I don't really know latin

Anyways, it basically means explaining something you don't know, with something else you don't know. AKA, trying to explain Minecraft to him by mentioning episodes and story lines he doesn't know about because he never played it. AKA, he has no idea what the hell you're talking about. I think.

  • It's a phrase used to describe when somebody explains something to somebody else by using more unknown terms as reference, like @Deltino said.

Nope, that professor with the two faces pulled me off the series for good.

As I do understand you dislike Story Mode, I suggest you should at least check it out. While the story or characters may seem a bit cliché, --Monster wants to destroy the world, intrepid heroes must stop it.. Jesse is your average, every-man (or every-woman, depending on your preference), Axel is the strong, dumb character, Olivia is the know-it all brainiac, Petra is the cool, brave person everyone aspires to, Lukas is the friend who got pulled into this mess, and Rueben is the cute pet-- it does show off a pretty good, epic scale story.

And while I do hate Minecraft, either because of its open-endedness - its lack of story you might say, the various items or systems they have implemented into it.. I just don't "get" it. But Story Mode is a way for me to understand the laws of the game while appreciating a nice story (and, yes it does feature some good, if not small changes to scenes or dialogue through choices thus far, as evidenced by @Deltino.) So, I just wanted to maybe enlighten you a bit more, and possibly give you a chance to see what it is you dislike, or might miss, by not paying attention to this game. :)

They would have to skip 8 years for AJ to be the same age as Clem in Season 1. I think it's safe to say they won't do that. For sure.
