  • How so?

He straight up says the realm isn't a place for Stannis due to his belief in the lord of light

Yes, it's you who talked about both characters, show and books.

Well, yes since they're both counterparts to one another despite differences. The point I was making was he's shown to be a complete fanatic acting in the Faith's name rather than anything that would be best for everyone in the realm

Tywin did one for the mistress of his father.

Yes it is the law. Yes they've both done it but there's likely more meaning to both than what's said. In Tywin's situation it was to get back at her for wearing his mother's jewelry. With the Sparrow it's a display of power because as he made Cersei do it he didn't make Margaery do it as he'd already gotten what he wanted so what would be the point of making her "atone"

Oh. Yet I still don't see the link with what you quoted. Maybe it's the language barriere.

Do you say this because Stannis is the rightful king and the High Septon doesn't acknowledge it?

Then yes, I believe he still has limits for justice seeing his religious beliefs. But I was mentionning justice for how he treated Osney Kettleblack.

For the show indeed. I don't remember the charges against her in the series but in books it's only based on the lies Cersei gave him, I think.

  • High sparrow wants power, like everybody else. That would not be an alliance between crown and religion, but a King controlled and manipulated by fanatics.

It's funny because if there was no invasion by Dany and invasion by White Walkers in the horizon this alliance might actually work. Sure, it

High Sparrow is old, his influence would end long before Tommen's reign would end. And if this new alliance would've secured the peace for that long, it's likely that the follower would be less radical (and probably a less powerful figure), because peace doesn't feed radicalism/fanaticism. Many religious reforms in history have started with radicalism but "calmed down" later.

And what comes to HS, yes he wants power, but he is not so one dimensional that it would be his only motive. Clearly he also wants to change the system, and cares about the poor.

If anything the danger for the peace would be the noble houses, who might not like this new power structure. But even they would have hard time justifying a war, because (south of the Neck) Faith of Seven is their official religion, so they'd be waging an unholy war.

None of this matters though, because winter and dragons are coming.

  • anyone buy the theory/prediction (for the show) that real test for arya is also a test for the waif? like its a test within a test. i mean the waif is showing too much emotion. when they gave her the greenlight to kill Arya, she was too happy.. if she truly was no one she wouldnt care at all of how arya behaves, she would just do her duty and if she fails then she would just do her duty. so maybe its a test for the waif, if you can kill this girl, who we trained in a specialty (blind training, idk if everyone of them goes through it..) then you're solid. also if, like Jaquen said, if you do her quickly and not torture her then youre like no one, but if you die.. well you die and your face goes on the wall and Arya passes her test and gets an option to stay or go. idk i kinda got distracted so i more than likely botched what i was trying to say in a better way...

  • Her behavior did strike me as odd too. I know she has been far from fond of Arya, but she seemingly hates her (out of jealously, perhaps) and wants badly to kill her rather than simply kill her out of duty. I agree, that doesn't seem like something a "no one" would do. If it's a test for her I expect she might fail, maybe out of her desire to torture or prolonge Arya's death, leading to a moment Arya can strike (like the Mountain vs. Oberyn, though with less head-smashing).

  • This week's beautiful death is a bit hard to call maybe

    'Burn Them All'?

  • Yeah, no deaths aside from the flashbacks. And wights, but eh, they don't really count. I'd say it's either the Mad King with the "Burn them all!", or it's Benjen with "The dead don't rest". Benjen is a half-wight after all, and he talks about his death in this episode.

  • I agree. And if we check with the old faith militant, Maegor the Cruel (he wore well his name) wanted nothing but to crush them. It was a failure and he ended his life.

So having a Joffrey who is a mini Maegor wouldn't have helped either imo.

I've thought about this a bit - how would have the Sparrow plot changed had it been Joffrey as king instead of Tommen. Obviously it would

  • its gonna be our hearts... cuz how Mace Tyrell looked and his speech <3

  • I really hope we don't see those Sand Snakes ever again. They piss me off.

  • Let's just say that these five episodes without their presence are a huge relief. And I hope their absence continues a bit longer and the next time we see them again, they will be killed brutally and gruesomely.

Yup, it's Benjen. And man is it awesome :D That mace though, reminds me of a certain "broken man" ;)

    Wearing wools instead of chainmail..

    Certainly Olenna did it.

EDIT: Now I think about it, Mace is the only lord who understood the use of an helmet. Maybe he is faking it after all.

  • You were right about the death!

Predictions for next episode? I'll go with Septon Maribald (Ian McShane said it was a one episode gig), Septa Unella and (tinfoil theory) Thoros of Myr in a duel with The Hound.

    Siege of Riverrun is coming

  • On the positive side, they might well be the best four episodes of the season :D

I can't believe seven weeks have passed already and Season 6 is four episodes away from being over.

  • That is a vain hope. I dont think they were as bad as people make out anyway. Im kind of looking forward to seeing them declare war on King's Landing.

  • I think the reason for Bronn's six episode absence, it is because it took him that long to recover from the "Bad Pussy" line inflicted on him by Tyene Sand. :P

  • Thought this was cute
