Would you be interested in explaining why it's "dumb" instead of just getting upset about people having different views on Sarah? Naturally … moreas time goes on in the apocalypse, incapable survivors like Sarah would be a lot less common, which makes prefect sense, so I can't see how it's a dumb theory.
I would honestly advocate for his thread to be closed, seeing that barely anyone is discussing the topic—whether there should only be survivalist characters in Seasom 3 rather than incapable characters.
This thread has mostly failed. Everybody is talking about Sarah in a thread where she was only used as an example. This is only "Sarah was defenseless," "Sarah is annoying" and "Carlos is to blame." Oh, and "Duck is pretty stupid." And Shawn was dragged into it for some reason.

I agree. The likes of Sarah, who despite everything, are always a liability, incapable of taking care of themselves and have the inability to do anything beneficial, are probably mostly dead this far into the apocalypse.
It makes more sense for Telltale to cut down on these types of characters or at least try to it mix up a bit by creating ones, who could actually offer some sort of help and benefit the group in a way. They could introduce a character, who may be completely useless in one manner, but could process the skills to help in another incident. It'll certainty balance out the annoyance when they can't help and make the character a lot more likable, unlike Duck and Sarah.
But yeah, they've got to stop with the annoying, fuck-up characters, who's only process is to do just that- fuck up.

yes and there are no characters like that in the show and comic at this point. ftwd has chris who is like psycho version of sarah but that show is set in the beginning of apocalypse so its understandable.

I'd like to bring Eugene(tv-pre-S5) into this conversation. He was unable to take care of himself w/o the help of Abraham, and Rosita. He was not "dumb", nor "useless".
Also, the people of Alexandria(comic-pre-No Way Out) they were not able to defend themselves, without rick's help. They were not "dumb", nor "useless".
Making someone completely badass doesn't make them a good character. Imo, of course.
Yes, because from a story point of view when you look at the timeline into the apocalypse, it makes more sense for characters like Sarah and Duck to not be as common because people like them, wouldn't have survived that long. He's only using them as examples, not hating on the actual characters themselves.

but at least this way youre free to make your own way to AJ. It would have been worse if you had to carry him around or whatever
personally i just think its really dumb that a little girl in the ZA took on the responbility of raising a child. like, really, realy dumb. I wish you could have left AJ in season 2
Duck is 'dumb and useless', yet is the only one who helps Lee find the missing medicine and look for clues. Sarah is 'dumb and uesless', yet knows that she needs to learn how to survive but people prevent her from learning how and she stands up to Carver - something most of the adults don't do until he's defenseless and distracted, not to mention the fact that she gives Clementine peroxide to heal her bite wound.
If she had every intention of killing herself, she could've gone to a walker, drowned, stabbed herself with a kitchen knife, or searched until she found bullets.
Yes they most likely wouldn't have survived. But if they are in a capable group/community it is possible. Though I prefer strong characters I understand that not everyone is like that.
I agree it was ignorant and rather dumb of her to do but this scene is entirely determinant and regardless of how stupid playing with the gun was, it wasn't loaded and no harm came out of it. It's not unheard of for children to play with guns(fake or real) in immature ways, she is still a kid remember, not only that but a kid who isn't taught by anyone how to use a gun or told about the dangers of the outside world. I'd guess she did this as a joke without realizing how serious it looks to others.
Edit: Sarah also only pretends to shoot herself if Clementine doesn't tell her how to use the gun.
now you're just making things up. dude she literally made a "bam" noise and pulled the fucking trigger. Play the episode before talking like… more you know what happened, please. Even clementine looked disturbed after sarah did that. And then sarah pointed the gun right at clementine. Another thing to add to her "mess ups." I dont care if sarah doesnt think its loaded. It is terrible gun conduct and just ignorant.

Yet it's not creepy that Clementine sneaks into her house and room without warning attempting to steal the group's supplies? Also, Sarah gives you peroxide regardless of whether you agree to become her friend. Being a liability in the present doesn't make her a liability in the future, considering how much Carlos protects her and how no one is willing to tell her the reality of the world(except Clementine) or teach her how to defend herself, it's no wonder she's a liability.
Clementine can decline to take the photo and Sarah will accept responsibility for it later on. The gun scene is determinant depending on whether Clementine is friends with Sarah but I do agree that it was foolish of her to play with a gun - although I keep in mind that Sarah seems to lack knowledge about guns and the proper usage of them.
She's having a panic attack, it's hardly something she can control and it's not like Sarah could've told Clementine anything that would've prevent Carver from entering the house. She makes noise because she tries to hide as Clementine tells her to do so, regardless of what she did she risked getting caught it wasn't a win-win situation.
Yet Bonnie already knew that the group were in the Ski Lodge and informed Carver of that. Rebecca, Alvin, Clementine, Kenny and Luke manage to temporarily avoid Carver despite Sarah running towards her father.
Do you expect Sarah to just stay silent knowing that her father, the person who looks after her constantly, is being taken away from her and isn't being told what's happening to him? Of course she's going to complain, she became vulnerable without Carlos. Sarah refuses to speak with Clementine because she doesn't want to get into trouble. That's Sarah's own fault I agree and Clementine can ignore her. She doesn't do her work because her father, the person who protected and cared for her constantly, physically hurt her for what likely was the first time ever, it wasn't a pitiful slap either, not to mention that Reggie doesn't exactly help her despite it being his job to do so. Carlos asks Clementine to help calm Sarah down, she's in the middle of a walker horde, vulnerable, defenseless, with only Carlos there to protect her, you can't blame her for being horrified when she seems to have never been in a situation like this before. Her father was killed, what do you expect? She lost the person who always looked after her, of course she's going to go into panic mode - she doesn't know how to act in a situation like this. The group split itself up.
She just watched her father die and she's having an anxiety attack, she is paralyzed in fear and panic and if you feared that Sarah would cause the group to die, you could leave her in the trailer but if Clementine saves her, no one dies at the trailer. I think that Clementine slapping her probably reminded her of her dad slapping her but it's not like every other character thanks Clementine for saving them, this goes for Clementine as well - if anything, Jane is the one who risked her life for Sarah and deserves the thanks. How is saying "But... I'm not okay..." quietly equates to complaining? Although I do agree that the Observation Deck scene with Sarah was idiotic, I blame that more on the writing considering they wanted to kill Sarah off and gave her an illogical second death in the same episode she became determinant.
Sarah gives Clementine peroxide regardless. Sarah stands up for Clementine if Carver slaps her. If Sarah is saved, she warns the group of approaching walkers. She might not do much but she does more or as much as other characters. She is immature - allot of this is due to her age and the fact that Carlos coddled her. Her father, the person who protects her was being taken away without warning or reason by the people who threatened to kill her father and that she fears, that's like calling Kenny self-centered just because he gets mad about the people he's lost or Rebecca self centered just because she's worried about Alvin being taken away.
Fine heres my extensive list again at moments sarah was annoying for many players, I liked her by episode 3 but there are plenty of reasons … morewhy people would consider her annoying, you must realise that? People dont hate people for no reason.
You meet her in episode 1 and she immediately demands to be your friend, refusing to give the medication until you do, its creepy and irritating given your current situation of sneaking round the house. Most people also recognize she is going to be a liability and carlos confirms it later through dialogue
In episode 2 you are made to look after her, she then jumps out at you with a camera and asks you to take her photo, she then asks for help with learning to shoot, then doesnt listen to clementine and waves the gun around in her face.
Carver appears and sarah freaks out, doesnt tell clementine anything useful and leaves the entire issue for clem to deal with. Carver figures out who the group are… [view original content]

I think what he was trying to say, was that there always has to be at least a couple characters who'll die at the hands of walkers for a dramatic moment and if there aren't any of those liability type characters, the main characters and more favoured ones could start getting killed off.
