Are you going to play each episode upon release or when the entire series is released?

I'm torn on what to do because with Season 1 i only started playing the game after all the episodes were released because i was late finding out about the game itself and that was great because i could play one after the other. With Season 2 i played each episode upon release which was endless waiting. I'm thinking of waiting for the entire season to be released but at the same time it feels like i'm missing out on a lot and I don't want to have to not visit the forums to avoid spoilers as i love to discuss the new game obviously so i might play each episode on release.

What are you guys/girls going to do upon the release of S03E01? Play the episode and wait for each one to be released or wait for the whole series and play them all at once?

Upon release. I've been on board with this game since the very first episode. And I've awaited the release of every subsequent episode. I mean hey, why should I stop now?

  • With newer series starting with Minecraft, Michonne, and Batman, Telltale are aiming for quicker episode releases - somewhere around the vicinity of monthly episode releases. Unless they change that for Season 3, endless waiting should no longer be a problem like it was for previous Telltale series after Season 1 of Walking Dead.

  • Definitely when they release, I enjoy the forums during those times. Plus I do kind of have to patrol these parts.

  • I'm too invested not to purchase the season pass well before everything is released unfortunately.

I mean, it isn't like the problems will arise right out the gate in terms of the issues that inevitably plagued season 2, so either way only time will tell... tale.

I definitely play it on release, mainly because I don't want to get spoiled and it is cool to see what decisions people make and their reasoning on the forums, so participating in discussion and theories is always cool

EDIT: Also ever since Season 2, Telltale has done a fantastic job on trailers and it's so hype to get teased about the next episode

On release. I got to moderate still! Plus I think the waiting is a part of the experience, allows for theories and such.

(Quick get another moderator in here, 5 post streak!) Damnit I I was a little too late I failed :(

  • When they release to avoid getting spoiled. Also, the forums are way more active after release. I wouldn't want to miss all the theories, discussions, arguments and the community choices/opinions, those are the things I most enjoy in these games.

  • No way am I waiting that long until they are all released. Thankfully I found out about the series pretty late as well and was lucky enough to play all episodes of season 1 without waiting. It must have been torture for those who had to wait.

  • I agree with you all. I think i'll play it on release and hope the time between episodes won't be too long although i do hope the quality won't suffer if the episodes are released quicker!

  • Come on, I thought it was punny.

  • Upon release, I actually don't mind the waiting and enjoy the experience of talking about what can happen with other people.

I am...totally not going to crack and buy the whole thing, day 1.

Season passes are beyond me. I'm not even...c-considering...fuck...

  • Upon release because I wouldn't have the patience to wait for the entire series to come out. And I also love the forums too much to stay off for that long of a time.

  • Well, hopefully you aren't because pirating Telltale games is an offense that results in a permanent ban.

I usually like playing games like that.

I've waited long enough to play this game. There is no way I am waiting until the game is completely out to start it.

  • Upon release like I've been doing since The Wolf Among Us.

  • You need PUNished.

  • I always play Telltale games upon release. There is something special about discussing possible ways the next episode might turn out with others on here. I have always enjoyed it.

I've actually joined the club pretty late, somewhere in August 2015 I believe so both seasons were released by then, I played them both one after another so I have no idea how it is to wait for episodes, I've only got a taste of it when I waited for Michonne Episodes to be released but it wasn't as near as exciting as S1 and S2, until the end of the year 2015 I totally forgot about The Walking Dead, been busy with school but in January 2016 I found out about Season 3, I've been waiting since and this waiting is killing me, I'm gonna play the episodes upon release just because I can't wait

  • Definitely upon release of each episode, no question about it!

  • As much as I would like to buy it on release, the main writers' treatment of characters in S2 (who I hear will be writing S3) and the fact that I'm saving for Indivisible (and failing, but still) means I'll have to stick to watching it on YouTube until I can afford it IF it's worth my money.

  • How is it possible to view others' profiles? It just redirects me to my own ever since the site's update.

  • I have found that I enjoy Telltale games much more by playing after all the episodes have been released. The waits are such a pain, the timing is inconsistent which leads to frustration and general apathy towards the game.

That said when it comes to the Walking Dead series I have to play each episode as they come out, because I just can not wait.

Every Telltale game that I've played, I played upon release. I could probably wait for the whole thing to be released, but then I would miss out on all the forum shenanigans :p

  • Wait, I'm confused... You can see people's feed??

Blind Sniper is probably talking about the fact that Dan is the creator of the thread, and he receives a notification every time that somebody comments on it.

I'm aware of that. I've made some threads before that were very active (like the gavinism thread) and it blew my notifications up. Everyone gets notifications when someone comments on their thread, but I've never seen a mod make a comment on the notifications from it? I'm guessing someone was spamming so blind deleted the comments?

I'm sorry to say that you missed a lot of fun. Blind must have removed one exchange of about thirty comments, because the last time I checked the counter was at 58.

  • There was a joke made that derailed the thread with 30 or so posts as BetterToSleep said. I deleted the posts, so that the jokes would slow down and responses to this thread would only be relevant responses. Mods cannot see people's profile feeds.
