Who is exactly is Javier? How old is he? Where do you think he came from? What's that branding?
A cuban guy who Clementine teams up with in Season 3. In his 20s. ...Cuba? A key to his story arc.
What's your honest theory on who he is?
He is probably an attempt to make a "better" clone of Luke by making him seem like Joel from The Last of Us.
We know he's a playable character, but is he a 50/50 for each episode? or will Clem take precedence
One would assume Clementine would get top billing because OG 4 Life!
Chances are that some will dislike him on principle because "Clementine don't need no man," while others will try to enjoy the character for whar he is. And still others will glorify him out of spite because "Season 2 sucks! Hurrdurr!"

they said javier would appear more as a friend/ally to clementine rather than a father figure. so i'm pretty sure Javier would see Clementine as an equal

Eh, I don't want this franchise to turn into a dating simulator (or a breeding ground for ship wars like TFTBL). I guess I wouldn't mind it if there as a romantic subplot for Javier, especially since he's new and should be easily molded, but I rather not have a romantic option for Clem. Also,
I think hes around his 20s, plus hes hot not as hot as kenny senpai but still very hot cant wait to play as him. I hope theres a hot girl to… more ship him with. and clem is so cute I hope theres a boy around her age I can ship her with to. Im so excited for season 3
well firstly TWD will never be like that shit game TFTBL even when it comes to shipping, second why do people hate the thought of clem being shipped with someone? I understand shes a kid and the whole cluke ship is pretty fukced up but I mean she is growing up.so I dont really see much a issue with her being shipped with someone her own age.

To each their own
That's just not what I would like her story to be focused on, and for my Clementine I don't want to bother with it in an apocalypse setting where she can so rarely fully trust anyone to begin with.
Also I was just comparing shipping wars, no need to be so hostile on TFTBL.

alright to each there own like you said in your previous post."Also I was just comparing shipping wars no need to be so hostile on TFTBL" I wasint trying to be hostile lol, i was just telling you that I felt like TWD was better than TFTBL even when it comes to shipping wars, just my opionon.

Older guy, who has a problem involving his family members and is/was part of some group that deals with shady stuff, traveling with a teenager, who has had experience with zombies/walkers/infected and has lost a dear friend to the virus, and they are working towards a goal involving an evil group and a conspiracy/plan involving one of them.
Yeah, basically Joel. I know better than some that these similarities will likely be superficial at best, but it doesn't change the fact that its a similar enough setup to draw some eyeballs.
by making him seem like Joel from The Last of Us
With all due respect, I don't think there's much similarities between those two at all
The only relative similarity is "older guy traveling with a teenager"
Maybe, maybe not, but they could sure as hell try. Provided that's what they're even trying to go for with Clementine and Javier. No way of knowing until some more info starts coming out.
Fair enough. However, Telltale's narratives are very choice driven, meaning that that automatically shifts the dialogue and character development from being very much a focused and formally approached dynamic to being a much more player driven endeavor.
That means rather than having a certain event unfold one way, resulting in another. The player chooses to run it another way, if that makes sense?
Added, TLoU allowed us to play through a psychopath who is largely irredeemable and amoral, the characters are controlling a still mostly moralistic child so the dynamic shifts greatly.

Yeah, I get what you mean. But that doesn't mean they can't work around it, or at the very least try to. The problem is striking the balance; Joel and Ellie's dynamic feels organic because it's linear. Story beats that are important to that relationship always happen, which means the relationship they go through and the way it evolves always pans out the same way. In a choice-based game, there's no way to ensure that a relationship hits all the story beats it's supposed to. But you can try. Joel and Ellie's dynamic could work in a choice-based setting, but it'd be very difficult to make it anywhere near as organic. Especially when the dynamic hinges heavily on how much the two character like/dislike each other.
I guess what I'm saying is that they could pull off a Joel/Ellie type of dynamic if they really tried, but it'd be pretty damn difficult, to say the least. It requires taking a linear relationship between two characters, converting it into a non-linear format, while still making sure all the main ups and downs of the relationship occur at some point or another, all while feeling organic and natural. If you're clever and/or crafty enough, you could find ways to get around the problems it presents, but it'd take a brainstorming to keep figuring out solutions. Besides, it would be something that gets exponentially harder as the story goes on and more options are added to the pool. It's doable... just not overly efficient. They could try, but chances are it'll fall apart sooner or later; maybe you could keep it up for a few episodes in theory, but soon enough it'd just get too convoluted to pull off within a reasonable time frame. So yeah, in all honesty, it's probably best for them to focus on something else, a dynamic/relationship that easier translates into their choice-based formula. And I'm quite sure they're smart enough to realize that. Telltale's done pretty good at acknowledging their limits/boundaries; what they can and can't do with both their engine and their formula/format.

The one big speedbump is AJ's inclusion, although not firmly understood, would feel somewhat distracting to the almost secluded relationship Joel and Ellie had and how their connection convinced so many that they kind of wanted each other's company even if they were a somewhat toxic combination.
As ambitious as it is, I just don't see it happening unfortunately. Who knows though? I'm up for surprises.

Honestly, I'd love to see this upcoming game truly surprise me with Clem's and Javier's relationship, after playing season 2, I'd be surprised by a kiddie pool worth of character development at this point.
The same guy who said casually in one section that he's been on both ends of murdering innocent women, children, and men.
Joel. Loved his character but Christ the bastard was sick.
If I remember correctly, Ellie asks Joel if he ever killed children. Joel replies with a mumble of sorts in which Ellie retorts she takes it as a yes. Joel finally replies "take it however you want."
Strongly implying he killed anyone at some point to survive and didn't care about consequences.
Ok, its been a while since I saw the Brainscratchcomms playthrough.
Honestly, the implication that he had to at some point really doesn't bother me considering I don't really discriminate much when it comes to armed combat: S1!Clementine, Sarah, Luke, Lee, Kenny, Larry--anyone can kill with the right weapon and conditions.
While I'd regret having to kill anyone if there was another way, I realize that its not always easy to make the right choice.

Ellie isn't Clementine. Both girls are 14 at the beginning of their game. They never told us how old Ellie is at the end but seeing how far Joel and Ellie had to travel it had to be close to a year at a minimum. Clem will swear but not alot like Ellie.
Well it's been a while sisnce I wrote that comment.
Now I know tha Hispanic is someone who was born either in Spain or in the territories that were once controlled by Spain (so, thee speak spanish), while Latino is someone who was born in a country or territory hat was once under the contyrol of a nation where the main lenguage spoken is a lenguage that comes from Latin, such as French, Portuguese or Spanish.
That makes all Hispanic people (expect Spanish ones) latinos, but not all latinos are hispanic. Javier is both Latino and Hispanic, and guess what, just like be, I'm not white.
(plz don't kill me if my explanation was wrong I'm 90% su8re it's ok but I'm a idiot so it could also be shit and plz spare my life)
I think he was a high school student when the world initially fell to shit.
The kinda blurred logo on his shirt reminds me of something y… moreou would see on a soccer jersey, so maybe he liked to play soccer before it all happened?
I honestly like the cut of his jib and I think he'll be a cool character.

You do.
You can be a sassy Clem or a badass Clem.
Or just the same old Clementine from season 1.

My question would be why can't she be all of that?
Or is that we got no relatively defined personality?
Compare Lee(and/or any of the Campfire group) to Clementine....
You mean let's hope he isn't nice, heroic, awkward, moral, protective, or responsible?
Yeah, sounds like a great guy already!
High five then, wacho!
OMG!
I doubt that Telltale can pull off the type of tumultuous relationship Joel and Ellie had in The Last of Us.
Maybe, maybe not, but they could sure as hell try. Provided that's what they're even trying to go for with Clementine and Javier. No way of knowing until some more info starts coming out.

Yeah, I don't really see it happening either, honestly. But it's an option, nonetheless. Just not the most... lucrative one, so to speak.
