What if Lee had gone to prison?
What do you think would've happened to him? Would he have been someone that other prisoners would've respected, or would he have ended up as someone's wife?
And what kind of person do you think he would have become?
I think that Lee would've been a formidable opponent in prison, although fights in there are never one-on-one, but more often a gang of guys attack one guy alone.
So probably what would have happened is that Lee would've had been attacked, and despite his best efforts, he would have had some very bad things happen to him.
And as for who Lee would have become. People who are sent to prison are often times worse than they were when they went in. So I have a feeling Lee would have become hardened by his time in there.
When he would've been released, I think Lee would have become involved with drugs, both as a dealer, and a user. That he would've decended into a life of crime. And more than likely would've ended up back in prison.

Maybe he would have turned out Iike those prisoners we saw at the beginning of S3 of the show.
Stuck in the prison, plenty of food, with no knowledge of the outbreak...

Okay, so my answer isn't going to be what you're looking for, but hey, it's an answer.
If he stayed when the apocalypse happened, he would have most likely met Rick and company, like the other prisoners (assuming he got trapped in the cafeteria like them) and probably been killed by the Governor or other Woodbury characters.
Or maybe he would get eaten (by people), or devoured by zombies, or shot, or get his head bashed in, or get beheaded and put on a spike. The possibilities are endless.
Hmm. I think he'd escape. Knew how to pick locks.

Pretty much this. He probably would have gotten along well enough with Rick and co, and probably would have ended up being killed in the prison attack. And he never would have meet Clem or anyone else from the game

Rick was saved by Glenn. If Glenn were to be absent from the comics there may be a chance Rick could have died. So no Lee no Rick? Lol
Rick met Glenn after the drugstore, and without Lee we wouldn't know if he would get back from the motor inn alive.
So, yeah, Rick's status would depend to Unknown Glenn's one.
Without Lee many things would change in The Walking Dead's universe.
Actually Lee would still have met Clem, and the others even if he went to prison.
Clem: She would've been rescued by Shawn and Chet when scouting the neighborhood having her meet with Hershel at the Farm.
Lee: would go to the same prison that Rick and the gang is at who will eventually meet up with Clem at the farm.
He would never taste the feeling being parents, clem was everything for him
