I'm pretty sure Clementine will still play an important role even though they are hinting that the story will focus more on Javier.
Job m… moreentioned that Clementine's and Javier's roles will be reversed so i think there will be times where Clem is taking care of Javier rather than having people take care of her which could be interesting, also Clementine is a popular character so i can't see them abandoning her while putting all their focus on Javier.
Okay I'm officially really damn excited for this season. Confirmed AJ, finding out what happens to Kenny, focusing on Javier and not just Clem, finding out origins of the outbreak, familiar faces from the comic/Alexandria (I'm thinking a Rick cameo for sure), and the ability to transfer choices from other platforms.
Oh wait oh fuck, Job said that they "hope" to get it out sometime in November and no "exact" date has been set and that they getting it out by the end of the year. Delay confirmed? Lol
I'm actually okay with the idea of Javier having a larger role than Clementine.
It could mean that since Javier is the main focus, this may help give Clementine some more depth in her character when we don't play as her, so she would be able to have a mind of her own instead of being too influenced by our past choices.
As a player character in Season 2, she felt too much like a blank slate where we could make her do whatever we desired, as opposed to being true to herself.
All people are complaining about Javier, but it is going to be ok, it is better to play as adult in outbreak than a child, who had to do every hard decision, because adults were stupid af.
I personally would've preferred Clementine as the sole playable character. I'm not against two main characters, I just would have preferred to only play as Clem.

Interesting, however carting Melissa out for the early info panels and then now saying that this is Javier's story is going to anger people....it is sorta bait and switch. TTG should have been more upfront...it is not like the do not have a whole forum of dedicated players who were going on and on about how their Clementine would react to the new frontier.
Having said that...I am a firm believer in expanding a stable of interesting characters to help continue the story.
I think you are over complicating things. Telltale isn't malicious enough to "bait and switch" people, and I don't imagine they thought people would be so horrified at the thought of someone besides Clem holding the spotlight.

If you look back to Season 1, it was really about you know, becoming this surrogate caretaker Lee and protecting Clementine, and really giving her this help that she needed and this hope and knowledge to survive, and Clem needed you. So after going through a second season and then effectively starting anew in Season 3 we have a character like Javier who’s strong but, I still think that he’s still a little lost, and I think the roles are very much reversed and as the player you’re going to find thatJavier needs Clem.
This game is going to kill me. I c-can’t, the words are chocolate! CHOCOLATE!

I know! T.T I can't control my feels! And we're going to see the ZA from the beginning too with Javier's family!? I love 'seeing shit hit the fan' with zombie outbreaks. I hope they do things different than what we saw with Lee on that.
Well at least some relatively big news has come out since the trailer. The fact that it is apparently the new guys storyline probably makes it even more unlikely that we are going to be seeing Kenny or Jane again.
It's time for the players to start asking themselves what they really want to see from Season 3 now. I'd like players to seriously question whether they still like Clementine as a person but have the character still be entertaining and relevant to the story.

That, and I feel there is an important detail people are overlooking - unlike Season 2, New Frontier seems to actually have an end game and a plot that actually has a point to it beyond just trying to tug at people's heartstrings or shock and desensitize them like in Season 2. Season 2 has a storyline which was scattered and mainly just focused on trying to tug at people's heart strings but in a more nihilistic manner than Season 1 and with amped up shock value, sometimes at the cost of story consistency or character development. New Frontier seems to actually be focused on taking its time with story telling and universe building, and it seems like the structure of the plot this Season will be more directed and coherent. That alone should convince people that Telltale has a better idea of where they are heading, this time around.
I think people are kind of blowing things out of proportion
Especially considering we've seen next to nothing of the game, so there's not much to judge anything upon
I'm probably one of the biggest fans of Clementine here on the forums. I have become hugely invested in her story, I'm probably one of the few people who didn't mind how she acted in Season 2 and felt (for the most part) it was a realistic transition for her character after the events of Season 1, and she has become my all time favorite fictional character.
With that being said, I have absolutely no problem with what Telltale said about this mainly being Javier's story. In fact, it's made me even more excited and optimistic for Season 3. Telltale is not completely ignoring Clementine, she's not being relegated to some background, uninvolved character, she's still essential to the main story and we'll still be playing as her. And by being able to play as Javier, it could allow Clem's character to further develop in ways that may not have been capable if we were only playing as her. But what's really got me interested is when he said the roles are going to be reversed and that Javier is going to need to rely on Clem. Not only does this prove her overall importance to the story, but it's going to further continue her transformation from the weak, helpless girl she was in Season 1 to a much stronger, hardened survivor that we will most likely see in Season 3. Now I highly doubt it's going to be something like where Clem is the new Lee and Javier is the new Clem, but it seems that, with how it's worded, Clem is a somewhat more experienced survivor compared to Javier and both are going to need to rely on each other in order to make it. And like some people have said, it's still possible that we will get a good balance between playing as Clem and playing as Javier, and it'll be nice to see their overall dynamic throughout the season. Keep an open mind guys.

I didn't say I was the biggest, just one of the, I'm sure there are other people that love her even more than I do. I'm not trying to make this some sort of "I love Clem more than you" competition, I was just saying that, despite how much I love Clem, I'm still very excited to see what Telltale is planning for Season 3 and am keeping an open mind.

I'm not the biggest fan of the show but I'll give it a try (you can watch them all on Rooster Teeth's Youtube channel)
It takes place in … morean alternate world named Remnant where creatures name Grimm, they fought against them for survival for years before discovering a mysterious element named Dust that allowed them to fight back. The show focuses on three girls with unique weapons and powers that form a team called RWBY (pronounced Ruby) at their school for Huntsman.
Don't want to say much more than that, they also have a comedy spin off called RWBY Chibi, but I'd recommend only watching that after finishing Volume 3 as it contains spoilers.

We are still playing as her.
In your opinion
Amazing!
I'ts will be awesome to see Clem like new Lee for Javier!
You with me?!
Thanks!
Yea no shit imo.

This makes me a little sad but at least I won't feel bad about not buying the game now.

I'm still very excited, and buying the game as soon as I can.
I think Clem and Javier will balance each other out, one helping the other achieve their goals.
Very happy with the current announcement I think its for the best so it doesn't feel like they are treading on old material.
Or the player controls Javier and tells Clementine what to do, and she does with a stern look at the player every time.
That would be funny.

Yes I am so happy this season is Javier's story. He looks cool. :P

I like the shared protagonism thingy ;.; I think it's neat.

Kenny has been mentioned in live stream, the flashbacks will apparently show what happened.

As one of the biggest Clementine fans myself, I agree with everything you said!
I can challenge that.

Thank you SO much for posting this!!~
I am so amazed at how she has grown and matured, and I love her story and character so much, she is my all time favorite fictional character.
Thank you, Telltale, for bringing this special girl into my life.
I do as well! I consider it a refreshing turn in the story.
Your loss.
Sounds interesting
