Personally I believe that telltale can make a lot of people happy by allowing us to play as Javier or Clem in certain parts of the game. So if you want to play as Clem 60/40, you can do that or if you want to play as Javier 60/40 you can do that. I know Blind and I said this a while ago, but people weren't as active in this thread as they are now.
I'm probably one of the biggest fans of Clementine here on the forums. I have become hugely invested in her story, I'm probably one of the f… moreew people who didn't mind how she acted in Season 2 and felt (for the most part) it was a realistic transition for her character after the events of Season 1, and she has become my all time favorite fictional character.
With that being said, I have absolutely no problem with what Telltale said about this mainly being Javier's story. In fact, it's made me even more excited and optimistic for Season 3. Telltale is not completely ignoring Clementine, she's not being relegated to some background, uninvolved character, she's still essential to the main story and we'll still be playing as her. And by being able to play as Javier, it could allow Clem's character to further develop in ways that may not have been capable if we were only playing as her. In my opinion that possibility makes sense. Maybe Clem and Javier have to go to different sides in the storyline and we'll be able to play as both, just in different times. In the end of season 1, the last choice of the game was made based on Clementine's actions, so... Could be interesting.
* Javier is "our effectively lead character".
* Season 3 is "It's really Javier's story".
* "We're going to see what makes him [Javier] ti… moreck". We're also going to see how Clem's and Javier's stories intersect.
* "We're going to be exploring some of the events of the outbreak" from Javier's perspective
* Flashbacks confirmed for Javier as well.
* "No matter what platform you played on" the save file will come for Season 3
* AJ "a very big situation Clementine is dealing with"
* "They are in the Alexandria area" so that's a little more specific that just Virginia.
* "Familiar faces" will be seen.
* "Roles are reversed" with Javier and Clementine.
* "Don't have an exact date in November".
* Stay tuned for news.
I'm ok with season 3 being focused more on Javier. I actually thought this was how a third season would come about when season 2 ended. My initial vision was a third season with a new protagonist accompanied by their own crew. The protagonist would be someone who was similar to Clementine but still had their family/friends/support group from the initial outbreak; essentially a Clem in Lee never was bit and the group stayed together. The protagonist and their crew would encounter to Clementine who, through interaction with the main character, would reveal her past, present, and where she was headed. Season 2's ending would start you off with a corresponding Clem. The season would end with the protagonist influencing Clem and, as a result, she influence us. The two becoming a duo could possibly become in order, but that depends on how we play.
If season 3 becomes anything like I predicted, I should be happy by the end. Not only will Season 2 effect our Clem, but we in return will be able to shape our Clem's future depending on our choices. Then again, that's just my wish, though it would be cool to have predicted season 3 over two years ago.

I sound bitter but actually the reason i'm not buying it is because I got a new phone last year and I played the game on it, now it's not there (even though I backed it up) and it even says I have to pay for the episodes. So that's $50 dollars and randomly generating it will just really bother me. This just helped me feel better because I'm less interested now.
But this is also Clem story. She will be there, after all. Geez, you people sure know how to make a storm in a glass of water (this saying even exist in other countries?). Clementine will affect and be affected by the story, and we get to play with her. The only thing is that the drama is going to be based on Javier character, that doesn't mean Clem won't have her own drama, or be affected by Javier's drama. This is also her story guys, even though it's focused on Javier.
I don't think it's necessarily better to play as an adult than a child - I just think Season 2 handled the concept poorly. I actually think playing as a child is more novel a concept, since they're not as strong and can't be relied on to use their strength to save the day in typical video game fashion (something Lee could do, like fight zombies and fight Andy and Kenny and the stranger). Playing through the zombie apocalypse as a child opens up the game for more clever mechanics - eavesdropping, blackmailing ("whose baby is it?) stealth, exploiting underestimation and compassion ([Sad eyes] option) and so on. The Last of Us and its DLC showed it's possible to have a great experience playing as a young teen in a zombie apocoplypse. But after episode 2 of season 2 Telltale relied too heavily on "let's just dumb down the adults to justify giving Clem more action" and it screwed up that perception of truly playing as a child.
Not saying I don't want to play as Javier, I do, just saying playing him didn't have to be better this way if Clementine's gameplay was just improved upon.
All people are complaining about Javier, but it is going to be ok, it is better to play as adult in outbreak than a child, who had to do every hard decision, because adults were stupid af.
The overwhelming amount of emotions I feel is just... I can't put into words. I am so fucking excited to see Clementine again, and I am interested to see the introduction to this Javier's character. MY FUCKING HEART! !
I really, REALLY hope they don't kill AJ off, and have Clementine become part of Javier's group. I'm guessing that maybe there are some people who may have taken AJ and Javier's family? Leaving him and Clem to work together to get them back?? I don't know, I'm grasping at straws here, but I would love to see some AJ/Clem sibling moments. AND YES THE DYNAMIC PARALLELS BETWEEN LEE/CLEM AND CLEM/JAVI ARE GOING TO FUCK ME UP EMOTIONALLY, I CAN'T!!!!
I know! T.T I can't control my feels! And we're going to see the ZA from the beginning too with Javier's family!? I love 'seeing shit hit the fan' with zombie outbreaks. I hope they do things different than what we saw with Lee on that.

Yeah, no kidding! I am so glad this forum exists, because literally no one in my personal life gives a rat's ass about video games, and I'm literally bursting to fangirl to any and everyone I see lmao. I'm like, "HAVE YOU HEARD OF MY LAWD AND SAVIOR CLEMENTINE!?"

I'm compelled to say this. For the longest time I was thinking that no matter what they give us in S3, Clem will be my main focus. Keeping her safe and alive. I don't care about Javier or AJ or anyone else.
But, with the idea that Clem isn't the Main character, that kinda forces a change of mind and opens S3 to be more than just a focus on Clem. I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I want Clem, but i want a sensational story so maybe this will be it.

I'm hoping there will sometimes be choices where we get to choose to play as either Clementine or Javier like how we can choose to be either Bruce or Batman, it could be interesting to see how either one of them handle a certain situation depending on who you choose.

Agree.
Clem - the best.
High five.
No other is better. NONE.

That would be intriguing. Of course, I would always be playing as Clementine, but...

So Im a little confused on how the save files work.
I lost my Season 1 and Season 2 saves, so am I going to need to replay or will I just be able to check off options of what I did?

That would be pretty awesome.
I think that would be pretty hard to do. I'm expecting random character switches similar to Tales from the borderlands.

Clem/AJ moments, Clem/Javi partnership, all this stuff I'm so excited for!!!
I feel the SAME way!! I'm so overjoyed to see Clementine again, and very intrigued to see her interaction with Javier! The excitement is UNFATHOMABLE!

No matter WHAT happens, my main focus since Season 1 Episode 1 hasn't changed: Keep Clementine safe.
It's not sharing it that puts me off. It sounds like the major focus will be Javier.
Same here. Actually... probably everyone here thinks that..
Being able to choose who to play as would be interesting... Have they ever done that before? (I haven't played the full TFTBL or GOT)
Probably my most favorite fictional character.
I think I'm going to change my avatar...
Do you think choices will matter more in S3 then their other games?
The way they talked about it sort of made it sound like that.
& I'm a very brave pancake.
I'm here with you guys.
As Lee said:
I will protect her no matter what.
I agree with both of you.
I won't let anything happen to her... Hopefully.
I also agree with both of you.
So wait... You're agreeing with me agreeing with you...?
Kinda, yeah! xD

Clementine is my favorite fictional character EVER! I have never been so immersed and so passionate about a character like this!
Same here.
That sounds very intriguing. I would most likely be choosing to play as Clementine every time a choice like that would have to be made. xD
It's good to know that there are many other people that share my love for Clementine.
Oh great, looks like I didn't miss much.
Jee, you guys need to chill. Wait for the game to actually come out before complaining about Clementine not getting enough focus.
I've lost respect for a couple of people after reading all these pages after the panel.
