I don't think the developers will ever let Clem's survival be a optional variable, even people that dislike her would still save her just to not let Lee's sacrifice be in vain.
Lol, then Clem lives in 90% of playthroughs.

Well I wasn't exclusively thinking of a life or death scenario. What if the narrative draws a line between Clem, and Javier's own people?
… more For instance what if Clem thinks one thing is best, and your family thinks another? Say, will Javier help smash his dad's skull in with a saltlick?
Its going to be really hard to make players put any new characters ahead of a beloved child protagonist that has been in the series since the beginning, and I think Telltale knows it too. Hopefully any decisions like that have quite a bit of nuance to them, and aren't just straightforward "save A or B".
I have a feeling that this is going to be a harrowing season, even more so than past seasons. Not only do we have Clementine to worry about, not only do we have Javier's family to worry about, we also have AJ and being in charge of protecting a young child is a huge fucking deal. We're set up to lose a lot of people already, and we haven't even met the new group.
I hadn't though about AJ... okay so for another hypothetical: AJ or Javier's family? I feel like I can already guess how people will be drawn based on the Kenny/Jane decision though.

Honestly would have to go with AJ. He's the youngest and most vulnerable and unlike Javier's family he is alone in the world except for Clem and whoever you stayed with at the end of s2.

No right thinking person would choose Javiers brother, especially because Javiers brother if found would be such a minor character
If the player controls Javier, then yes.

99.9% of players chose to save Clementine.
00.1% of players just pressed the wrong button.
