Any chance this girl in the front could be Stephanie

enter image description here

I havn't been keeping up on releases of character info for the game (pretty much the only two I really know about are Javier and Clementine.

But any chance at all the girl pictured in fromt could be Stephanie? I looked at the walking dead wiki site and they had a person named Kate listed but didn't have an image for her. Not sure if that is her or not. So any chance at all that that could be our first glimpse of Stephanie or is that most likely the Kate girl that was listed.

That said if it was Stephanie she would likely only be in flashback scenes and I wouldn't think they would put a character relegated to flashbacks on the cover.

  • I'd imagine its Kate. Stephanie was a determinant character and whether or not you decide to have Shel shoot her or not, there's always the possibility that Roman shot her after she left. So there's always the possibility that she's dead regardless. (That and she looks nothing like Stephanie.)

  • My username is my answer.

  • No no. Referring to Stephanie from the comic. Not Stephanie from 400 Days. Stephanie is the one talking to Eugene on the radio who is possibly part of Wellington.

  • If we're referring to the comic Stephanie it wouldn't be such a ridiculous question. If I was talking about Stephanie from 400 days I agree that would be a laughable comparison.

  • We don't know, really. But since I guess that the voice actors on the IMDB page are the main cast, I'd say she's probably Kate. Hector might be Javier's brother (flashlight guy) and Eleanor his sister (girl from the junkyard screenshot).

Would be funny if they named her Ellie. Does she look similar enough to where they could get into some legal trouble if they did name that particular character Ellie? She is kind of even wearing a similar looking shirt that Ellie was wearing in the final scene of TLOU.

  • Whoops. My bad. In that case, I dunno. Possibly. I'm not that far into the comic.

  • Wouldn't be surprised.

First they parallel Joel's character with Kenny in season 2 minus the compelling intrigue of Joel's layered performance, now they have paralleled a big part of Ellie's character design.

    Kind of sad, really.

unless Ellie wearing a flannel jacket for about 5 total minutes at the very end of the game was a gigantic component of her character design that carried some metaphysical meaning that I missed

No, just that it's convenient that Kenny has had the whole "rough-southerner-lost-violent-survivor" character Joel had with similar characteristics and now I'm seeing that bland chick has very similar hair with similar plaid and a similar facial structure.

And make no mistake, I have no high hopes for this game at all. So you'll excuse me for not exactly jumping on the same pole everyone else is jumping on and being penetrated by a so-far sub-par first impression.

Okay, I'm not trying to start shit and I apologize if it comes off that way at all, but this sounds a little bit like straw grasping to me. The Ellie part, at least. We could argue about the Kenny/Joel shit for two whole fortnights, but I doubt either of us are in the mood for opening that can of worms

The only thing that stands out as similar to me is that they're wearing a same type of shirt. But quite frankly, that style of shirt isn't something exclusive; I swear like 90% of all plaid shirts are that same black/red pattern

But whatever, I can't be fucked discussing shirts today

I'll save that for when I'm shopping at Kohl's

You have no ideal how drunk I am right now. I could argue a fortnight about forts.

The point still stands, the design is brazenly ripped from a much more popular game and my hopes are diminishing the more people argue about how I'm wrong that Telltale is copying The Last of Us.

But I hear another round coming, so I'll just drink instead of further disrupting the forums' blind hype for this so far bland looking promo material with blander looking characters.

    You see, that's the problem; I don't think it's a rip-off

  • Only time will tell if she's going to be a carbon copy of Ellie just like how Kenny was trying to be with Joel what with him being the morally repugnant character, minus the flavor Joel exuded.

But I'm not impressed by her simultaneous bland and inherently-similar-to-Ellie character design.

  • Well considering Kenny was created a whole year before Joel was I don't see how you could say that TellTale was copying Kenny off of Joel. Season 2 Kenny was merely expanding upon the character they had already created.

As far as that one new girl looking a bit like Ellie. Yes she does and that very well may have been intentional however I don't see that as a bad thing unless it was something that naughtydog would get upset about. I don't think they should call a girl that looked somewhat similar to the main female lead in Last of Us by the same name but creating a character that looked somewhat similar and potentially has some of the same traits as she does would probably be a bit flattering.

After all most people who played Walking Dead played Last of Us as well and who wouldn't want a character in TWD that somewhat resembled Ellie.

  • First they parallel Joel's character with Kenny in season 2

Season 2 Kenny seemed very mirrored to Joel, more so than in season 1. His crude attitude, violent outbursts, overprotective nature (although he still sucked at keeping his loved ones alive cause he also has to have loss much like Joel), and him being a very awful judge of character made him immediately resemble elements of Joel without complexities.

And his design was also very alike to Joel, much like whatsherface up there.

  • That still doesn't change the fact that Kenny was created before Joel was. Kenny's season 2 behavior was just adding on to the character they already created in season 1. Not trying to copy off of a character from an entirely different game.

  • His character arc should've ended in season 1, they brought him back to further mirror Joel's suffered character.

He was nothing in season 2, just with more similarities to a far better character.

  • Rather or not you liked Kenny in season 2 doesn't mean at all that he was strictly there to resemble Joel. If anything he was added into season 2 so the player (as well as Clementine) could have someone other than Clementine they were extremely attached to. His behavior in season 2 was just an extension of his season 1 character after adding another couple years of living in the apocalypse.

What is it with teenage girls wearing flannel shirts *in Telltale's TWD?

First we had Sam, now we have this Jane carbon copy? The last thing I wanna see is Clementine with a flannel shirt.

  • He was brought back to further develop Clementine's character, for example, having her character making the hard decision of "who will your Clem become" choice. But due to the bad writing of season 2 i felt they failed at this as i felt they could have done so much more

Between three seasons and 2 DLCs, two characters were wearing a flannel.

Clearly that's too many characters so clearly Telltale has gotten out of hand. It's almost as if flannels are common attire.

  • Agreed. I could understand the comparison if say Last of Us came out before season 1 of this series. But it didn't. Season 1 came out an entire year before Last of Us did. It's a little silly to say one character was a copy off of another character when the character being accused of being a copy came out first.
