What are some positive/good things about the character(s) you most dislike/hate?
I don't know if anyone has posted something like this but I thought it would be interesting to see. So recently i have seen a lot of polls and stuff about most hated character or have seen a lot of people express their hatred for a character etc. But i have not actually seen anyone say not one positive thing about the character they most dislike. I mostly see hatred from the same people for character like Kenny, Jane, Arvo, Bonnie, and Carver, yet have never seen them actually say something nice about the character. Unless you absolutely hate that character as if they are the devil of TWD than this post is not for you. But for people who do have some positive things to say about their most disliked character, I would like to know.
Mine are:
Rebecca: I didn't hate Rebecca but i did dislike her in the beginning. One good thing about her is that she shows kindness towards Clem in certain situations. She does seem to care for Alvin and her baby which I like about her character.
Carver: Jeez i hate Carver so much. I guess if had to say, one good thing is that he does seem like a good leader apart from the malicious things he does. I feel like if he wasn't so crazy than he would make a great leader of a community.
Bonnie: Ever since the Luke incident, I disliked Bonnie. She can be a good team member and somewhat resourceful but that's about it. She also can be nice to Clem sometimes.
Larry: Disliked Larry, but I can honestly say I admired the way he cared for Lily.
Ben: Disliked Ben ever since he indirectly got Carley killed. One good them about him is he can be a good team member and help you out if you need it. Again that's about it.
Troy and Arvo are complete trash to me and I can't find one good thing about them. Troy had no positive attributes or redeemable moments. Arvo was useless the entire time and did nothing really.
Comments
Everyone else I dislike has no good traits about them.
There is. To a point.
Eddie. The one genuinely good thing about him that I personally respect is that he clearly feels remorse for killing the guy(even if there was a chance he was a psycho as well) and even insists that either he or Wyatt risk themselves when they accidentally hit Officer Bennett in the fog, despite the fact that Nate may still be looking for them.
Kenny...in season one...he was one of my favorite characters. A man who is not perfect, trying to keep his family alive. He did things that pissed me off like killing Larry and thereby killing Carley or Doug. He could be cowardly. But there was also good things about him...when he was not being a dick he could be very logical. He did love his family. And in the end he died to save someone else like a boss.
Season 2. I would like to just imagine him as someone else.
Arvo seems to care about his sister
The stranger has good planning and commitment to a plan
Bonnie uh.... gave me a coat
Hard to say with Jane: I guess I like how she tried to teach Clementine stuff she already knew. And how she tried (and failed ) to save Sarah when pressured into it. Oh, and the fact that she wanted to learn to be a better person after she killed Vitali.
As for Carver? I like the way you die, boy!--nah I'm kidding. Mostly.
Nothing to really say with Justin.
Arvo: he's not dead yet, which means I can still be the one to kill him.
Jane: she obviously cares about Clementine, and while her methods may be the opposite of that of Kenny's, her overall goal was the same as his, keep her safe.
Mike: all he wanted to do was try and help and prove his worth
Ben: a screw up, but his intentions were always good
Carver: regardless of what some people say, I thought he was a great villain
Stranger: a family man driven to the edge of sanity after the tragic loss of his family, you feel bad for him, even though he was the one who took Clementine (doesn't mean I don't regret killing him)
Larry killed the teacher's walker who was going for Lee.
The St. Johns probably were normal people once, we hope.
Molly saved Lee, Clem, and Kenny from walkers and helped the group find the supplies for the boat.
Vernon took care of Omid's injury and helped the group scavenge Crawford.
"The Stranger" thought he was taking Clementine away from a dangerous situation, mistakenly.
Carver must have been at one point a decent, charismatic, and resourceful person to build a successful community around Howe's. His followers appeared to live in harmony and be well-provisioned.
Troy was loyal to his leader. I think there may have been other things but any continuation planned for his story was aborted.
Arvo wanted to help his sister and seemed to be against hurting out group. I don't think he would have bothered us if Jane hadn't stole from him and his group members hadn't been thugs.
Mike was helpful. It wasn't his fault he was a poorly written character.
Did he? Been a while since my first playthrough, if that's who I picked.
Seconded.
Mike did seem like a great guy. I actually liked him a lot during 3-4-and 5 until the end. He seemed like a man that wanted redemption and he showed some caring moments about Clementine.
Bonnie was very sympathetic and caring towards Clem, unless Clem covered Luke, and she seemed to only want the best for the group, until the end. She said it herself, "I don't think that boy's a bad person. I think good people do dumb things sometimes" or something like that. Can't remember the quote exactly. She made a mistake and seemed to realize it after Clem was shot (well in my game at least) but panicked and ran off after Kenny and Jane woke up.
Kenny is my bro. He is tied if not above Lee when it comes to my favorite video game character, but part of why I love him so much is his questionability. I have Clem go along with him for the story, but sometimes I wonder if it's a good idea. He is a rash person and has a small fuse, but he's always just looking after the people he loves. And to be fair, there are a lot of situations he was right on.
Snooping around the dairy. If Kenny hadn't talked Lee into it, we all would've eaten Mark.
The Larry situation is questionable but I still agree with him. Larry would've been an ass kicking, flesh eating machine had he turned and with Clementine in the room, I didn't want to take any risk, especially when all there was to defend ourselves was a fucking saltlick.
Not shooting the girl gave us more time to gather all the supplies from the drugstore.
Getting the RV running in case we had to leave the Motor Inn fast, which we did.
Leaving the Motor Inn.
Using the heard to escape Howe's.
Finding Wellington.
Pretty sure this is supposed to be about character(s) you most dislike/hate.
Did you know he was an abusive father?
Kenny excels at neglecting his responsibilities as a guardian of others that count on him and passively allowing his loved ones to suffer heinous, albeit hilarious deaths constantly.
Only if you saved Doug in Episode 1 and you gave the axe to Larry instead of Mark. Otherwise, Mark will save you with the axe or Carley will shoot it.
Did you know that that content was cut and is therefore not canon any longer? In the finalised game, he is clearly shown to care a lot about his daughter. Lilly's the only one who can reason with him somewhat and get him to back off. It is never implied in the actual game that Larry was abusive, only in cut content.
Okay, I thought so. Like I said, been a while since my first playthrough.
Ok, if you say so.
But do you remember one time he acted as a "loving" father?
Ok, if you say so.
But do you remember one time he acted as a "loving" father?
Edit: oh shit no again.
Shhhh
Dang why do you hate Carley?
"I don't see any of you stepping up to make the hard decisions. My girl's got more balls than all of you combined!"
I don't know why, but Lilly's little smile during this scene always made me wanna follow suit.
God knows why anyone would care about Larry dying (unless you were annoyed for Lilly's sake?) seriously but lets not get into that.
I have said this numerous times, i will never accept you or anyone saying Kenny was to blame for their deaths just because of Lilly's own actions. I say this for a number of reasons:
Ben or even Lee were indirectly responsible for their deaths, not Kenny. If Ben had not stolen supplies or if Lee had not discovered them, the bandits would not have attacked, they would have ran out of supplies and Lilly may have still went out and did what she did even before the bandits showed up. If you want to blame someone it should be them.
Lilly's actions were not based on what Kenny or Lee did (noticed how people always ignore that Lee can determinantly be blamed?) and i say that because people have blamed Kenny for her being paranoid and yet how do we know Lilly didn't suffer from paranoia before in her life? I believe Lilly was already paranoid on the St John's farm before the meat locker scene, how she wanted everyone to leave and not overstay their welcome due to a bad feeling which she was ultimately right about which then makes me also look at the supplies missing scenario. She acted paranoid but was also right that someone had been stealing them. A person who is paranoid but can still think rationally as she had done, tells me that what she did to Carley/Doug was not done out of paranoia. She knew what she was doing and once again, she was right about blaming Ben. She shot Doug by accident and shot Carley out of anger from what her last words were. It had nothing to do with Kenny at all.
Another reason to not blame Kenny for their deaths is because Lilly herself even shows forgiveness for what Kenny/Lee had done when she says this:
"You both know we do what has to be done" is the line she says that is cut off from the picture by the way. It shows that despite what Kenny/Lee did, she was willing to forgive them for it.
If you sided with Kenny in the meat locker and kept Lilly in the RV with you she even says this to Lee:
part of me understands what you did, she was willing to forgive them. That to me changes my opinion of Lilly.
My point is, Lilly's actions were her own and should not be the fault of what someone else did. I highly disagree with this. Anyway sorry for the long post
I dunno, I just do.
She just seemed like an extremely dull character. And she was also nosy.
Yeah, say what you want about Larry, but he definitely cared about Lilly.
People hate it because Bonnie gave it us.
Carley: She has hair?
Nah, people hate it because it's a seriously hideous jacket.
Well, I personally don't give a crap how my clothes look.
Troy apparently had some limited reservations with Carver's behavior if his expression while Kenny is getting his face beaten. He also seemed to have a genuine soft spot for Jane that showed for about 3 seconds.
Arvo, whatever your interpretation of his introduction may be, definitely cared enough about his sister to spend the rest of that day mourning her. It's also the primary assumed motivation for his grudge against Clementine(and not Jane). Also, he clearly had standards if his initial reactions to Clementine and AJ, as well as some of his behavior during the ambush is any indication
Just saying.
.
Because they liked him despite or even because of his antagonism? Because he was a member of the group? Because asshole or not, he was a somewhat decent human being?
Your clothes are transparent.
Good. I like them that way. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Probably. Strange if so but probably...
Kenny clearly cares about his family, both real and otherwise, enough to do everything he can to keep them safe and get them to a better state of living, even if it is sometimes to the detriment of others. And that he believes/believed in doing whatever you can to keep yourself going when times are tough. He also occasionally admits to his faults/shortcomings and takes responsibility for his dickmoves.
