Hope the game doesn't have Batman's fps problem, it looks a lot better than Batman.

  • For some reason the character movement just fell off to me, and it feels like this would take a lot of taking used to for me. It felt like I was watching a drama instead of being involved in a classic, tense Tellale scene. I know it's to do with the new engine, but I just don't like it. I'm still not used to the new plastic graphics. If this is the cost for having less robotic movement, then I'm not really sure this is good enough of a price to pay.

They didn't show us the gameplay, that was just a trailer, of course you are going to be involved, you need to walk, need to choose the responses, you need to feel and create YOUR Javier, that scene with your dad is going to have a lot of "Press Q" "Shift + E" and that sort of things.

Clem saying "same thing that happens to everyone" pretty much confirms Kenny and Jane were killed within the time skip, which is what most of us were expecting, but was still disappointing as I had a small hope that they would be creative. For example, have Kenny and Jane captured and turn up in the last episode of the Season, or have them mentally break down and we have to look after them for the rest of the season, making players reflect on their morals and philisohpy etc. This way, they don't die, but still don't change the plot too much.

Maybe she just thinks they are dead?, though Kenny is really avoiding death a lot, but Jane maybe they got separated and she just think she died, a good way of getting rid of a character, just like they did with Lily

Furthermore, why does Clem suddenly look black at the end of the vid? I understand some children get darker as they grow older, but in all the screenshots and even on the cover of the game Clem has a white skin tone, so I don't know where they're going with this.

Is night, even I look black in the night, and I am as white as milk.

  • Hopefully he asks Clem about her hat

So, Javier is a current/former baseball player at the time of the outbreak.

  • I don't think you understand what I mean. By involved, I don't mean playing the game, but being part of the scene. I know it's sound cheesy, but one thing I loved about Season 1, and what they did even better about Season 2, was the atmosphere and how you felt like you were part of the experience. I ducking loved this (intended?). One thing this game had better than TV shows was its immersiveness. We aren't watching it, we are in it! I just got the vibe from the first few minutes that I was watching a TV show. Did I explain myself properly (sorry if that sounds passiv agresssive).

It happens with every trailer I guess, maybe when you actually play the game you'll feel more involved, though now that you know everything that's going to happen (Thanks Telltale, I wasn't expecting that amount of spoilers) maybe the experience in that scene is ruined for you, I know it is for me.

"The same that happens to everybody". I'm pretty sure she meant the walkers got them.

If they make another Christa's baby situation I'm off, at least if they die they have to show us how they died.

I am referring to the actual colour of her skin. Nothing to do with the lighting; Clem's skin genuinely is darker. The only way I can see this happening is if there is another time skip in Season 3.

Well from S2 to S3 are supposed to pass 2 years, Clem is 13/14 now.

  • i don't really like the new engine very much... the old engine really did worked better and even the games looked better... Hopefully the game will run better optimized and on an higher resolution than Batman at least

  • I feel the same way about the new engine, but if I could accept Minecraft Story Mode as a telltale game despise it looking nothing like a telltale game, I can manage with those beautiful graphics.

  • Javier's family gave me some FearTWD vibes to be honest. XD

  • Clem saying "same thing that happens to everyone" pretty much confirms Kenny and Jane were killed within the time skip

I'm not too sure about that.

I think they just picked dialogue from the Alone ending, as it was more appropriate for a trailer.

  • Nice Lengthy double episode premiere, just what I was hoping for, should be around 3 - 3.5 hours.Plenty of time to introduce Javier and meet Clem.

  • 2 Episodes at launch, Great trailer, Good graphics engine, Mouths are well in sync with the acting and Clem's voice kicks serious ass. Not bad, Telltale. Not bad at all. I applaud you.

  • All of the sudden I'm getting Signs flashbacks.

  • Well that joke right there is the best thing about this trailer.

(Record Scratch) Yeah, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.

  • Because they are mexicans?

  • Aren't they Cuban though? It's because of their latin accent. Also the mother reminds me of Griselda Salazar.

I don't think David is related to Javier as a sibling. The way, Javier called out to David when he met him was , "David! Is it David? Hey!". Possibly a family friend or a relative Javier isn't close to, because how would you not know the name of your own sibling?

Also, the young girl calls the elderly woman 'Yaya' which means grandma in Greek and 'Pappoús' which means grandfather. The guy you identified as 'Hector' might be Javier's dad as he called the young girl 'Baby', which I'm guessing isn't her actual name and calls the grandfather 'Rafa" which may be the grandfather's name.

This would mean Javier would be the oldest with the boy in the beanie and young girl to be his siblings. I'm not sure about the other girl though, might be his cousin or another sibling as 'Mama' can mean grandma.

EDIT: Actually, after analyzing it again, I'm stumped as I'm pretty sure Javier say's, "You'll be okay, Mom" after the grandmother is bit which makes things complicated. So maybe she is the mother?

  • Episodes 1 AND 2 release on the same day

    fuck the what

  • Is xbox going to get to preorder, and if so, are we going to get a bonus, or are we getting screwed?

  • Bloody looks awesome. He's got a good voice, and I like how clem sounds and looks. And sweet walker kill by her

  • Watching that gameplay footage made me realize that I love angry Spanish shouting.

  • Fair point about David, he could just be the daughter's boyfriend.

And yes, the old woman is Javier's mother, and probably Hector's too, seeing as Hector's daughter calls her grandma.

  • Might be. Kenny is a major character in the series though, and can even be equated in importance to Lee or Clementine. Killing him off behind the camera is the worst possible thing to do. I think the speculation of them dying is because they weren't avaliable in the trailers. Well, 18 more days, papa bless.

Well since he is a determinant character he's going to be included, but I don't think it will have any major effect on the plot. Probably just lines, a scene of Jane/Kenny falling victim to similar situations.

  • Ah, that would make sense. That means Javier is their uncle and the two young kids are the children of 'Hector'. The unknown girl might be Javier's younger sister than.

  • In an interview afterwards they mentioned that Javier was/is a baseball player.

Or maybe he went to watch a baseball game and that's why he was late? Edit: Nevermind you must be right, he uses the piece of the bed like a bat of baseball

  • Wait TWO episodes?! My hype level has gone from 0 to 100 SO fast!!~

  • Great, I don't even understand what my own family is saying and I am supposed to be Spaniard. :D

Calling it now: < speaking Spanish >

  • Wooh! Poor Javier, but he looks like an interesting character with a tragic start. And my Clem, you got all cynical and stuff, awwww. ;)

  • Same here not because of that reason but because of the strong family theme and i'm all for it.

  • I'm sorry if someone already explained this, but are we going to have 5 or 6 episodes in total then?

  • Um. They're resolved BEFORE we play. As we start off as Javier and meet Clem after Jane and Kenny have died, after the time skip

Optimistic towards Javier, hoping we get to play some time prior to the point of the story shown in the trailer. Hopeful about Clementine

  • EP1 and 2 release on the same day well that doesn't mean we have to wait 4 months for EP2.. Or do we have to wait 4 months for EP3?

  • Double episode means twice as long waiting time. 8 months. :D

In all seriousness, I think Telltale is aiming for monthly releases. They did a good job with Minecraft, Michonne and Batman. I think they will try and do the same with Season 3.
