  • I've never said this about any game that TTG has put out, not even Minecraft: Story Mode, but I have to admit, I'm completely and utterly disappointed by Season Three's beginning, I love Javier, don't get me wrong, but it truly feels like TTG is just giving their fans the middle finger.

  • What happens if you let the family in?

  • edited December 2016

I'm reposting a comment of mine I made to RickWalk23 on page 6. I'd love to hear what people think

I thought up a bit of stuff for Jane's too. But it would either end in her death or her seperation from Clem. I'll write it up here if you care xD

The flashback is essentially the same in apperance but there is nothing about Jane's pregnancy or her suicide.

It starts out with a small cutscene where Clem and Jane walk together, if they let in the family then ginger Carlos is with them too. They talk about some task that needs doing. Carlos can't do it, he has to haul lumber and Jane can't do because she has to (haul lumber is Carlos is not with them) or fix a generator, so Clementine agrees to do it. She brings a small box with AJ with her, unless the family stayed with them. Then the black kid watches him. If black kid is present he seems sad, but Clementine doesn't question him.

Then there is a small hub where Clementine has to saw a plank and fix it to a barricade. While she does that she talks to herself (or AJ) about how Lee once fixed a swing for her and her friend Duck (or that she just remember the swing if Lee wasn't the one to fix it)
Anyway, in this hub she can talk to Jane and the family if they are there. There isn't any extensive dialogue with the others, Carlos busies himself with the wood and latina Molly tries to avoid having to talk with Clementine. If the family didn't join them, then the sound of a car can be heard in the background.

As Clementine continues to saw planks and add them to the barricade a shot suddenly sounds. The family is robbing them.

If the family was staying with them Jane is having a standoff with them where she has her gun pointed at the kid watching AJ. Clementine has to negotiate the kids life to get AJ back. She is unsuccesful and eventually Jane starts shooting at them. Molly jumps in to save the black kid and Clementine rushes to get AJ. She and Jane runs away together only able to bring the backpack that Clementine always keeps with her. As they run Carlos shoots at them to which Jane yells at Clementins that they should scatter.
That's the last time Clementine saw Jane.

If the family was turned away it is revealed that the car sounds were theirs. Jane is dead having been ambushed by Carlos, but Clementine obviously has AJ with her so doesn't have to negotiate. She grabs her backpack and runs, Carlos points his rifle in her direction but Molly stops him from firing at fleeing Clem.

    So there you have it.
Not extremely different I suppose, but a way to make the ending choice matter and Clementine still ends up alone. Not too hard to come up with and it essentially uses the same hub/cutscene elements.

Haven't had any thoughts about the other endings. I don't give a damn about the alone ending, and I'm waiting with seeing the Kenny car crash until I play the game myself, as that's my save.

  • Except anyone paying attention to Jane in Season 2 would realize that Kenny's evaluation of her was completely inaccurate. So the woman who decided to save Sarah on the observation deck without prompting, came back to save the group from the Russians, and rushed into the middle of a frozen lake to pull Clementine out "only cared about herself"?

People in the writing biz call this "character assassination".

if you ask me it was exactly like her character to go out like that. she had a habit of running away from her problems, like kenny said in s2 "running away again? what a shocker, in the end you still only care about yourself." so yeah.

I would say it gives S2 fans the middle finger which is fine by me because S2 is bovine fecal matter.

  • But that made all her character development practically pointless. I don't think I'll be getting Season Three until I hear some good from the forum.

  • The reason these flashbacks were so poorly done was that the writers had NO INTENTION of actually featuring these places and characters past season 2. Given the fact that every other choice at the end of season 2 was to end up alone with either one abandoned and Clem alone or both of them dead, it was quite clear this was the ending TTG wanted EVERYONE to pick.

And to combat the whole getting rid of them in the first 10 minutes like season 2, they waited until halfway through to show the flashbacks and them dying, so they could say "See your choices mattered"

  • I was honestly hoping that letting the family in would lead to Howe's becoming a stronger community - kinda encouraging Jane to let people in and then lead to a power struggle between Jane and Randy or if they were sent away, then Howe's would be a weaker community and they'd return with the 400 Days survivors to fight Clementine, AJ and Jane. I'm going to keep my expectations lowered for TTG now.

What I like is that it seems like a very important decision(the one where you let the family in or not),but actually there is literally no difference.

  • They did. That's why there was so many options to do it in Episode 5 season 2.

Jane's model is scary. Not a fan of how both her and Kenny were handled. I'm glad I went with the alone ending. I don't know, it was just handled so poorly. They really couldn't think of other ways to kill Kenny and Jane off?

  • I guess we'll be expecting everyone to die at the end of Season Three then?

This game and it's WRITING makes season 2 look like oscar material , same old tired formula , same old tired communities , cheap deaths to shock , garbage , sorry telltale

  • Who wrote this? The office janitor? Keep your game, I'll keep my money thanks.

(?) The office janitor will remember that.

So happy to see Telltale's joined the latest trend of sacrificing story for graphics. Nice going. I really would rather see every crease in

  • At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the characters dies by tripping over an ant and falling into a cushion.

She was probably crushed by a piano or something. Would make more sense than Kenny's and Jane's deaths. You can't make this shit up.

  • who heres gonna change their file cause iam kenny doesnt desreve to be crippled and left to be eaten so im gonna either abandon him or stay in wellington cause at least then kennys still alive in a new frontier just offscreen and he will stay that way as telltale is now done with his character

  • I am more upset by David's return than by the handling of the flashbacks.

Clementine's segments were not extremely dissapointing, and I could just ignore that they happened if I wished. With David's return, I am bugged out by the core narrative, which had been decent thus far.

Can I replay the first two Seasons and just ignore A New Frontier?

  • Remember Carley and doug? They may have died in the same way but they had Character Development and Good dialogue. now we have this Bullshit of: either we kill them in the first episode after their determinant status or we give them no character development and keep them around for 2 episodes.

They ruined it by having all the multiple endings. I knew as soon as they did it, that we would get something like this. They made way too m

  • That's probably where they got all these ending ideas from...

"I think we should have a really nice, in-depth story exploring each of the endings in Season Three and prove to our fans that we're listening to their complaints!"

"Nah, let's just use these fanfics I found on the internet and hope the name alone sells."

  • I'm switching my ending to alone now, hopefully Jane is alive if Clementine leaves her behind...

Hopes they don't have Jane and Kenny die weirdly and uncharacteristically even if you leave them behind alive

    I'll take it then lol

I feel like A New Frontier makes Michonne look allot better and tbh, it probably is!

You'd think they'd have learnt from Michonne, we don't want a movie. We want an interactive game

  • So aside from the terrible deaths, how good and realistic is the story? Please don't tell me that Javier is a Mr. Perfect that everyone falls for, has cool skills and plot armor. I'm at least hoping that AJ is adorable.

  • I know, right? Him being alive and leading The New Frontier is actually kind of silly to me.

  • Edith has the most decently Written death from the 3.
a group attacks Wellington and Edith comes to warn you.
While she goes to talk to that group you get an event where you have to Grab supplies ((And also Kenny s Hat))
after that Edith comes back and Clem and Edith start running . Edith carries AJ and they go thought the Door of Wellington then while Edith and Clem desperately Run some random freaking jackass sees them and Shoots Edith. Still a better death than Changing Characters and Making people forget Seatbelts exist.

Did something happen to Edith in the Wellington ending? Someone mentioned her.

i envy the people who didn't care for kenny or jane at all. i really really do.

  • Honestly out of all the endings we get with Kenny, staying at Wellington is the best. I originally chose to stay with Kenny but after seeing how things turn out I also think I might just change what happens.

is it ever explained why you only get the tattoo with jane or why you're missing a finger when your're by yourself? or are those things that just kinda happened?

  • It's the return of Kenny but worse.

  • Haha, my thoughts exactly!

Both events happen in Episode 2 as well, coincidentally.

It's the return of Kenny but worse.

  • Have you noticed that "Previously On The Walking Dead" and "Next Time On The Walking Dead" segments have both been scrapped?

This keeps getting better and better.

  • oh my god, and I thought season 2 was bad but at least that one was a little more like season 1 in comparison to new frontier. smh. I won't complain about S2 anymore.

  • I'm going to catch shit for this but Omid's death is worse than Kenny/Jane's in season three...

I find it ironic Telltale put Jesus in the game because not even Jesus himself could save this franchise now. - Some random guy on the internet
