Surprised how many people did this
I just finished Episode 2 and i can't believe that 90% of people chose to kill Conrad. I mean are people really going to kill a member of the group for suggesting a plan that could help the girls? I always knew more would opt to kill him because of Clementine, but to see 90%? Wow. I actually chose not to shoot him because i didn't want to kill a member of the group.
What's everyones thoughts?

Boring whiny character holding another moody character hostage while threatening a character I used to like before she got plastic surgery so we can maybe save a druggy stoned mom and her "doctor" friend.
Pretty easy choice, shoot whiny character and continue. Even if I was invested what was the worse that could happen
Based on what clementine was telling me and from what ive seen from that group i didnt want to take the risk so i shot conrad
"Whiny"
Dude he just watched someone he cared very much about die less than a day ago.
The moment Conrad became determinant, his life became forfeit.
I dunno how should I feel about it.
Oh well at least he doesn't have to put up with the horror of walking dead fanfiction new frontier any more.
Seriously though, why in the hell would ANY players give a shit about this random guy and his wife dying or possibly consider siding with him over Clementine with a plan that sounds dumb even if you've just met both characters.
I don't see the New Frontier to be the type of guys to give medical help just because we return a rogue member.
With what telltale has done, i don't think anyone is safe, yes, even Clementine could be killed off. Because she's only being playable during flashbacks and if telltale invests in Javier, they could kill her off.
I mean, if you had the option to shoot him, it means he was probably going to die a few minutes later anyway (maybe during that same scene). Besides, no one threatens Clem and lives!!1!
edit: In all seriousness now, here's why I shot him: https://telltale.com/community/discussion/111155/spoilers-why-it-makes-sense-for-javier-to-side-with-clem go to the Conrad decision if you don't want to read the wall of text.
that's like the whole point of Twd
Yes, except my point was that the fans think that telltale won't kill off Clementine because of her age and how popular she is. I mean, did you think she was really going to be killed off in the first 2 seasons?
It's one of the tough choices I've EVER approached in Telltale games. I didn't want to kill him but I didn't want Clementine as hostage. This decision makes me look like an asshole.
The plan was to utilize Clementine's status as apart of the New Frontier to create a more amicable situation for the main cast.
Clementine was known for all of one day, lied to them, shot someone they knew in the face, was one to agitate decisions like suggesting to shoot when they had Francine, might've drawn enemies like the New Frontier toward them to begin with, and so on.
Using her as a bargaining chip to appease their enemies and not risk any further deaths, especially when Clem has chosen to be volatile at times, even if well-intending and a hardy survivor, isn't a bad thing. It's a plan that makes some sense, if the New Frontier is willing to compromise.
And this was all under emotional duress of the apocalypse, the attacks, constant danger, heading toward enemy territory, surviving recently just escaping zombies, and having lost someone he loved.
Conrad's flaw here was how illogically he presented himself due to this stress, and holding Javier's sibling hostage to force an agreement.
In a stance of logic? Conrad's not that bad.
In a stance of emotion? Yes, they really should've emphasized the mofo more if he was gonna be a big deal/choice, but he isn't. Inconsequential.
He didn't simply suggest a plan... he pulled a gun on Clementine and held Gabe hostage.
I tried remaining silent on my first playthrough because I thought Conrad was a decent guy and that he would calm down and lower the gun.
He ends up shooting Gabe in the head and then shooting Javi without a second thought.
The decision to shoot him was pretty easy after that.
It was a really tough call to make, especially since he was one of my favorite characters, but once he threatened Gabe, the decision was made for me.
Anything to keep my family safe.
If you're surprised by that, look at how many people didn't tell the truth when Clementine shot the guy who sold her bad bullets.
I disagreed with the plan and his sudden threat towards us wasn't a good idea, however, when he took Gabe hostage then he was a dead man in my eyes.
That's what he gets for being determinant, can't wait to watch a youtube vid of how pointless his death in the first 15 minutes of episode 3 will be.
Suggesting I turn over Clem, lol, nice try pal.
he was holding a gun to a kids head...and javier didnt know anything about him, so it makes sense to me to shoot him. kinda pissed me off though.
I don't know, Eli did try to stab Clem (which in turn injured Javier in the process) and then he sits down and acts like nothing happened? That part of the scene pulled me off because of how odd it played out. That being said, I lied for Clem because it was pretty much justified for the most part.
My opinion on the situation was that I wasn't going to sacrifice a child to what could have been a horrible fate, who knows what they will do once they get their hands on her? I was also quite peeved that Conrad took another child hostage in that situation and I do get quite emotional which, as you pointed out, made me make such a decision. I'm fine with my outcome though so I don't mind.
Well Eli realised he was outnumbered and outgunned and so gave in to begging for his life, although I agree it seemed rather odd at first.
So Eli pretty grabs his knife, attempts to stab Clem and then when Javier takes the knife away, he sits down, and talking to Clem as if nothing happened. That was very odd and everytime I encounter that scene it just confuses me more and more. It doesn't make sense why he did what he did, because Clem's pointing a gun at him? Clem's the right here, he ripped her off of supplies she could've used for something else but Clem needed those bullets because like she said, it could have gotten her killed like how the walker near the gates of Prescott almost bit her.
Yeah in my opinion he should have just told her he would get her the bullets, rather than replacing the batteries, but we can choose to leave it up to awkward writing or Eli himself being frightened and irrational. I'd much rather think of it as the latter but who really knows...
Well what were you expecting? Like you said, we did it because of Clementine. Let's face it, the majority of us have a bias towards her and still want to protect her and choose her over everyone else, even as Javier. Not to mention he was holding Gabe hostage, that alone was enough to shoot and kill him, but when he throws Clem into it, then I know what the hell I'm doing.
What's funny is, I didn't do anything for that scene and he shoots Gabe then shoots Javier which resets the scene. After seeing that, there was no way this dickhead was going anywhere.
Just a heads up for everyone. I never said it was a good idea to side with Conrad, as what he did with Gabe was messed up, im saying that im surprised it was majorly one sided, only because so many people were willing to shoot a member of the group. Im just curious as to how many of those people would do it in real life. It's easy to say "yeah, i'd shoot him because he hurt my little clemmy" but actually doing it is a whole lot different.
Yes.
It's actually at 94.7% now.
I'd do it again.
I couldn't kill the guy. He already suffered enough. Seeing what happened in the end of ep 2, the plan might change.
I didn't kill him. This decision made Clem stay with group. Tbh she'd return somehow but I don't have to listen to her every time.
Hah. Wasn't even a consideration.
Conrad was already on my shit list after I gave Javier up for his wife at Prescott and he blamed Javier for the death. Then he not only holds Gabe hostage, but wants you to sell out Clementine?
It was never going to be a popular choice.
Yeah people are way to obsessed with Clem. I'd understand if it was to protect Gabe, but even then shooting him would have been such a huge risk. The smarter option was to follow through with plan. You aren't Clem anymore guys. She can take care of herself.
Of course she can take care of herself...it doesn't mean we have to let her take care of herself.
I think it's just hard to expect an unbiased action from people who've gotten to know Clem over the last few games. Ofcourse Jav & company don't know her, but we do. And I applaud the people who can make unbiased decisions from Javier's pov. (Same with the Jesus option though. Most people instantly trusted him because they knew him from the comics.)
I find it hard to make decisions that could possibily be harmful for Clem. (Mainly because she looked really anxious and terrified before going into the tunnel)
So I did shoot Conrad, but I didn't expect it to be an instant death lol. That's unfortunately something I'll just have to live with right now. (And given Telltale's illusion of choice he probably won't be around for long anymore anyways.)
I have 0 tolerance for pulling gun on family Members. You pull a gun on my nephew i will end you in a heart beat.
I'm one of the small percent who chose to make the deal with Conrad and traded off Clem. (Sorry Clem lol) Maybe he was still distraught over the death of his wife/girlfriend or whatever and was thinking irrationally idk but he's not a bad guy (I think) and it was a pretty smart plan or so I thought at the time..it didn't make sense for me to shoot him in that moment so I didn't. Plus clementine's attitude was starting to get on my nerves and but it was worth it to see her give those new frontier guys the middle finger.
I did not shot him because of Clementine. I shot him because he was threatening my nephew and pointing a gun at his head while using him as a human shield. I would not allow anyone in the group to threaten my family's safety. I get it, Conrad lost a lot in one day, but he wasn't being rational.
Yeah when I first saw Jesus I picked trust instantly. I was like "hey I know him, he's alright he's friendly!" Well hopefully he will be..
Clementine is finished. She isn't working as a side character. Damn right I betrayed her and let that Conrad guy have his revenge. Awful chemistry with this Luke 2.0 main character and I made sure they weren't gonna be pals.
Maybe. Don't really care though, he gets a bullet. People seem to really struggle to understand why so many older fans are attached to a character who was intended to provoke a protective attitude in the player lol
