Well they better not put me to the test, because I'll pass everytime. I'll happily choose Clem over any person in this world, and as much as I liked Javi and the gang, I'll serve every single one of them up to save Clem.
Considering how much Clementine has changed in the past two years, just as she had changed in the exact same amount of years from between Se… moreason 1 and 2, she might not even be the same Clementine we knew and trusted anymore.
Perhaps Telltale's true goal in Season 3 is to test just how far we will go to give everything up for Clementine's well being, and then deconstruct the idea of sacrificing everything for the sake of one girl Javier barely even knows, to the point where the player pays dearly for it.
And I still don't get it why having Javier taking the blame and possibly having him be tortured, hurt or murdered can help Javier's family in any way. She can take him to de junkyard, but so can the people of the community, since it's obvious they know the region from the get go.
You keep saying that but Javier wasn't taking the blame. If you cover for Clem you are only saying she was justified to kill the guy. And what he says is not a complete lie because the guy was indeed crazy and tried to kill them in the first place. There's a difference between covering someone's ass or saying it was you who killed the guy. I guess you misinterpreted that scene and didn't understand the options. Tripp puts both in jail because he's not sure that's the whole truth and well, justified or not, a guy was just killed. So yeah. And you're just assuming the people there would be decent enough or would care to actually take you to the junkyard. Specially when Clem says the people there weren't her favorite. See, my Javier would never risk that.
I don't think Telltale did a great job making decisions envolving Clem. Almost everyone will side with her, even though doesn't make sense trusting her. You think it does, I think it doesn't. People have a hard time trusting each other after months in that universe. And yet is justfied trusting Clem, even when we have all the reasons for not trusting her.
You sure do like to miss the point. It's not about if people will always side with Clem or not. I know I will. What we are trying to say is that, even if we side with Clem, it doesn't make the story lose sense because Javi's family is always involved in those decisions as well. Like myself and the person above me mentioned. So it makes SENSE for Javi to go for those options as much as it makes sense to go for the other one. Which one do you choose is up to you and how you want your Javier to be. And not all people think the same way you do. There have been a number of cases where people just met and trust each other in this game. Kenny towards Lee (I mean Kenny would never invite Lee to come on the van with his family if he didn't think he was a decent guy and trust him not to murder them or something), Walter towards Clem's group, Luke and Pete towards Clem, etc. etc. You don't think you should trust her, fine, but don't judge people who think it's justified to do it, either it's Clem or not. If it was another 13 year old kid, I would most definitely do the same. In my playthroughs I always like to give people a chance and be nice to them, even if they weren't so nice to me (like Rebecca or Nick, or even David) so it's no different with Javier and Clem.
I assume people's reasons based on what I see in the forums. I made this thread after reading others.

Anyway, "I've said my piece" - Kenny

Really? I honestly thought that Javi would say he killed the guy.
I respect what you are saying, and I know Javi's family is involved in these choices. And obviously not everyone think like me (I'm a Stannis fan after all, lol) Like I said to Abeille, she/he think does make sense, I think it doesn't. I didn't disrespect that. I'm just trying to make my point, just like you people.
Me, on the other hand, like to not give a chance to people to see how they will react and how that will affect my playthrough.

I totally agree with the original post. I was in the 5% minority at the time when I stayed with my family and not fight back with Clem.
The whole backstory of Javier is around him not being there for his family when his father dies! So now in a zombie apocolypse, he's doing everything he can to redeem himself and prove he will never leave his family again.
This is exactly why I sided with Clem in the bar, purely because we agreed before hand to help rescue Javi's family, so if I broke her bond and trust, she might not want to agree to help me find my family. That's why I sided with her, not because it's Clem and we love her, but because for Javi - he needs his family more than anything and will do anything to get them back at that point.
Hence why I also stayed with my family. Why would I leave my grieving family and dying partner to shoot some bandits that severely outnumber us? I think the choices are being clouded by Clem just because some people want to stick with her, even if it doesn't fit the narrative of Javier's backstory.
I also think the same thing happened with Kenny is Season Two, we are so fond of Season One that any remnants of it, we stick by it, regardless of whether it's morally right or wrong. Saying that, I certainly did not side with Kenny in Season Two and won't side with Clem in this one either.
There's no reason not to lie for Clementine when the guy sold her fake bullets and she didn't mean to kill him, especially after he just tried to stab with me a knife, Clementine trusted me, and also when she knows where the junkyard is and led us to Prescott after the truck crashed. Whereas we could have ended up with New Frontier otherwise and then definitely have very little chance of seeing the family again.
Other choices like staying with the family. I am so absolutely baffled as to why nobody chooses the family. Clementine is 13, she is plenty capable of looking after herself as demonstrated, a family member just died and another is shot. WHY on earth am I the one who is staying behind when we just reunited? I've never understood why 95% of people just go and shoot it out with Clementine
As well as when it comes to betraying her. Yeah, Conrad, Clementine is still a kid and you are holding a gun to my nephew's head. I am in literally no way inclined to trust you when you do such a thing even if your idea (which is half-baked at best), could work, and even if I am angry Clementine is part of ANF.
If they going to kill her, I am done with the Walking Dead. It's as easy as that.
I don't give a fuck about the new characters. Javier bores me, Gabe annoys me (because he seems to be the new Ben/Nick). The only new character I kind of like is Eleanor.
Honestly I was with Clem the whole time. No matter what she did I still backed her.Even though thats not really fair but i cant let anything… more happen to her.
What if Clem is killed off in Episode 4 or 5?I wouldnt be able to take it and now I have the fear that they are going to kill her off since in the picture for Episode 5 it's only Javier and no sign of Clem.
What does everyone else think on this matter? Is Clem going to be killed off?
I've never understood why 95% of people just go and shoot it out with Clementine
I'm one of those people who isn't pro "Everything should revolve around Clem" people (I told the truth about the death of the bullet selling guy and didn't shoot Conrad), I stayed at the shoot out because I thought someone else could get shot if I wasn't able to distract them.
Well so far the decisions are okay.

...I think you kinda missed my point. You don't pass the test if you've already admitted that you'll consistently choose Clementine at the expense of Javier and his family.
Well they better not put me to the test, because I'll pass everytime. I'll happily choose Clem over any person in this world, and as much as I liked Javi and the gang, I'll serve every single one of them up to save Clem.

You say that like it's a bad thing. And I didn't say I didn't go for those choices because of Clem, because that was certainly the main reason. Lol Like I said, I will always side with Clem and protect her no matter what. What bothers me about your post is that you're basically saying "how can you side with Clem when it doesn't make sense for Javier?". Because in my mind, it does. At least so far. Which is why I'm glad Telltale at least made the Clem choices make sense for someone who just met her because they are always tied to Javier's family and their safety too. But like I said, if you want your Javier to be distrusting of strangers, that's your choice and it's fine, I get it. It's not better or worse than those who like to trust everyone (not just Clem) around them. If you don't agree with it, fine, but try at least to understand that it's not always about siding with Clem because it's Clem, because even if that's the reason people are doing it, it's still justified for someone like Javier to do so. So it's not about making sense or not, it's about shaping your own Javier just like you did with your Clementine in season 2 (you also had the options to trust Jane, Arvo, etc. when you just met them). I don't know why you find this so hard to understand.
You keep saying that but Javier wasn't taking the blame. If you cover for Clem you are only saying she was justified to kill the guy.

No matter what Clementine does, her fans will always stick by her. She can lie, kill people, Making stupid choices, indirectly cause deaths… more of characters and she will still get support. Truth is she's telltales golden child. The little girl who can't do anything wrong and if any characters is mean to her or tries to kill her, the fans want that characters head. I think some overreact too much and take the alliance with her WAY to far. Clementine is like any other character, if she does something bad, people shouldn't let her get away with it. Im sorry if im coming off as a asshole, but that's the truth. Even when Lee was in season 1, the focus was manly on her. Sh'es been telltales chosen one from day 1 and anyone who says anything negative about her gets abused because you can't have a different opinion, you have to love her and think she's the best. She's good, but she doesn't deserve the accolades she gets, more so with how she's acted in ANF.

I think I've found a way to satisfy my urge to protect Clem while protecting Javiers identity. Upon seeing the traumatic murder of his beloved niece, Javier has a mental break, and in his insanity now views Clementine in a similar fashion. Everyone wins!

I treat her like a stranger and that works wonderfully for me.
