  • I agree.

A New Frontier is still quite shit though and no amount of differing standards will change objective quality.

Now perhaps you like some subjective qualities the season presents...

Having a different standard of storytelling is not the same as having zero storytelling standard at all. It is narrow-minded of you to think so.

Of course I don't "really" think his Mom needs to grow up... I mean, she can if she wants to, but she doesn't "have" to.

  • Yeah, I've seen some overwhelming negativity on twitter and youtube, is there any other social media telltale uses?

So where would we get a good sense of the majority? Because their social media pages are worse than it is here lol

I'm being an optimist about the game and I like it, the only cons were the poorly written deaths of our characters because "our choices matter" and that Clementine hasn't become the person I wanted her to become, I wanted her to be like Lee instead of being a mix between Kenny/Jane.

Note that episode 1 had slightly poor written scenes.

But I'm trying NOT to look at the bad things and enjoy the game as I do always, and I enjoy season 3.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the lies that TellTale gave us, 42 different personalities for Clementine? They worked hard to make an perfectly tailored story? My Clementine doesn't change at all, at least change her personality instead of her injury dammit. Never seen another developers to lie about their games that much. Or at all.

  • Ohhhh... I figured we live in 2016 so.... It didn't even consider that it'd be an issue.

    My bad?

After a series of games that were incredibly underwhelming with horrible technical, visual, and auditory problems, a completely lack of innovation in gameplay, shortened length and meaningless choice, lack of character development, progressively less engaging writing, and Telltales complete lack of response, I am not purchasing this product, and I will not be supporting Telltale unless they improve.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the original story that was praised and lauded, it is a completely separate plot with soap opera style drama and increasingly unrealistic interpretations of what people would do in an apocalypse.

Seeing Kenny's stunt double die was not a good thing at all, but it is far from my only frustration with Telltale, and it keeps happening.

This doesn't seem to be selling well thus far, I hope they understand community frustration and resentment.

  • I mean, she can if she wants to, but she doesn't "have" to.

Wait, you really meant that his mom needs to grow up? The way you said that you didn't think that and said that part it's like you say "I don't think his mom needs to grow up but his mom needs to grow up".

  • Yeah that happens sometimes.

Every time I've ever had tears it's that happening actually. Like at the end of season 1 I'm all calm and this damn Grasshopper just jumps and pokes me in both my eyes! Nobody believes me, but I believe you bro! :D

I'm not crying. There's just something in my eye when I start to complain a lot.

  • A thread basically saying you have no right to complain or dislike anything, you must like everything. Seriously kenny/jane dying isnt the only issue with this season, I feel like their deaths are pretty much the accumulation of the rest of the series problems at once

  • Again I'll say I'm sorry for opening so aggressively. I blame the... cider...

Things seem to have lightened up. When I made this post all I saw were posts that had people basically screaming bloody murder and I'm all like (WTF???? I love it so far! Oh yeah... I remember this now!)

I understand why some folks are disappointed. I don't think S3 is perfect, and it honestly makes me a bit sad to realize that so many are focusing on what they dislike so much. It means that they can't enjoy the game.

My original intention for coming here was to yack with other ppl that have finished S3, as I know very few ppl IRL that will play it before some time after the season completes. Only one other person I know has the season pass like me, though many ppl I know plan to buy the whole thing.

In any case, I hope you all have a Merry Xmas!

  • I miss that too, hopefully in the other episodes were get a chance

  • There's some truth to that I think.

Seeing so many ppl complaining had me reflecting. It is pretty short. I do wish it were longer. I'd have liked it much morr if they'd have gone with my "kidnapped" fanfic idea to keep Kenny/Jane alive but off screen over these intros.

But you know what? I still enjoyed it, especially on my first take. They're doing "something" right, at least for me. I still think that a lot of the complaints are overboard.

  • Im sure some people like it, I dont think these people are bullshitting however the walking dead has just become a joke. Its just gradually got worse for me with new problems being added to the existing ones that telltale doesnt even try to fix.

Choice never mattered but at least there was an illusion in the beginning. Graphics always looked a bit weird but season 1 and 2 at least had their own unique comic look, I dont know what the fuck this new look is but it bad by graphics standards but has lost all its charm. The episodes losing all their pacing and becoming very short is also becoming a pain. And the pretty much false advertising is getting irritating at this point, TWO episodes! not really one episode that was split in two so you could charge the full price of 5 episodes.

Season 1 was great and honestly while I liked season 2 less they both hold up to each other. They both had issues however they were generally well done with a few hold backs storywise. However season 2 just felt a bit all over the place and short, along with several issues however I still enjoyed it

Michonne was okay.... I didnt exactly enjoy it all that much as with the illusion gone the flaws were a lot more glaring with the short episodes and the sudden changes in characters. However while I wasnt that much of a fan I appreciated what it was and telltale still stuck to what worked with it, some moments were entertaining and it felt like the walking dead.

This new shit I just dont see it, everything is different but all the flaws are still there. It entire pace is faster with less focus on the characters and the somewhat interesting premise is undermined by crap dialogue, obvious and foreshadowed twists and completely dismissing the previous stories while still getting money out of them.

  • What aspects determine "objective quality?"

What aspects count as "subjective qualities?"

I agree. A New Frontier is still quite shit though and no amount of differing standards will change objective quality. Now perhaps you like some subjective qualities the season presents...

  • Objective, as in a comparable measure to the previous two seasons and the merits they heralded at least at the beginning. Slowly building a plot (however sloppy season 2 turned out, it at least had competent first few episodes) through finely tuned choices and constructing a strong start for both seasons. Hell, most choices are 90 to 10 in terms of ranking... Objectively, that's much less engaging because it means their somewhat rigged toward a specific narrative line.

Subjectively, I laughed like a sadistic hyena when dude's wife got shot and he quite unpersuasively cried her name in clichéd passion because not only were there no risks to us, but we know shit about the woman and the whole scenario was out-of-no-where.

Plus, I subjectively liked that Telltale had a pot smoking segment... cause 420?

Hell I am still not over the line Both of their deaths were meaningless... AND THAT'S GOD DAMN GOOD! That's depressing. It's SUPPOSED to be depressing.

  • I'm with you bud. I am peeved about kenny and Jane and the short episodes but I still loved the game and am not about to grab my torch and pitchfork. I just hope the rest of the season Is not 60 min episodes because that's rather insulting and not really worth my money.
