Wait wait wait....Y'all don't like Season 3?
Honestly I've enjoyed this season way more than Season 2. This season is Javier's story, which I find to be really fresh and interesting. Did you all seriously want another season of Clem running around, meeting a group, having them all die and then she ends up alone for a third time? I can understand why some people are mad about the season 2 endings in this season, but I don't really mind it because we all knew that they wouldn't spend an entire episode following up with season two, especially when they are trying to tell someone else's story. And I've seen people get mad about Clem being "shoehorned" into the season; but tell me, how many of you would freak out if Clem wasn't in the season? Overall I think it's a stronger season with a villain who isn't a one dimensional baddie (Carver) and I've had a ton of fun with the two episodes.
Comments
From what I can see, not having clem be the main protagonist isn't one of the major issues anyone has with season 3.
Ya I liked it more than season 2
Agreed
I didn't mean people would be mad with her not as the main protagonist, I meant that people would be mad if she wasn't in the game at all.
The season is not just Javier's story though, not completely. And it could never have been when TTG decided to include Clementine.
It was narrative suicide towards Javier to include her in the role she has, the season falls completely flat on a number of issues, the only thing it does really well is that Javier and his family is written well and beleiveably and they are well acted.
The way they have written everything just opens so many questions that they obviously won't ever answer so the story will never feel complete.
Wanting another story with Clementine isn't the same as wanting the same story with her, nor would the writers have to repeat it. Unfortunately, after 4 years in the apocalypse with his family, we've now taken control of Javier just before his niece gets killed, his sister-in-law/girlfriend gets shot, and a decent looking community is completely overrun and lost, leaving them forced to flee on the road again looking for another safe haven. Good timing for the dramas, less so for the not repeating similar scenarios thing. I mean, damn, after the flashback we knew his brother(?) was bitten, but he's suddenly lost one member of his original group with another possibly mortally wounded?
Comparatively between Season 2 and 3, what has fallen flat? You could say the exact same thing about Kenny in Season 2.
Uh, could you expand on this? what won't they answer?
You absolutely could, and many also did. There is a whole meme around "getting lucky, real lucky," you know. What does crap writing last season have to do with crap writing this season anyway?
For example, what in the world happened between the outbreak and these 4 years? Have Javier and fam just cruised around for all that time? Why haven't these issues with Gabe been solved yet, they have had to come up in those years. What about Kate and Javier? Have they just been uncomfortably flirting for 4 years without a climax(lol) that either established or ended their relationship for sure?
And Clementine, where has she been going? Why? How? When?
There are many more, and these questions form naturally in out heads as we play.
The setup leaves out extremely many details and what I have been show so far is that only a fraction of it will be answered.
See above, just examples.
If I recall correctly, most criticized season 2 for having this narrative and it being much weaker in general.
That was a major issue with season 2. Kenny took most of the story away from the cabin group as people were more invested in Kenny as he had a large role in the previous season.
I think we all know the answer to that
It's so stupid that people are already comparing him to Carver. He obviously has a lot more depth in his character and actually has a connection with most of the characters.
No I do not like season 3
Flashbacks are an indication that these questions are going to be answered
I doubt that really. Javier's flashbacks have been about David both times, I think there's a pattern to that. But let's hope.
They have been going back in time further and further, I think the next flashback will be directly about his gambling case and how David reacts to him asking to live with them.
Yes, so that all makes Season 3 a stronger season.
I am enjoying Season 3.
While I can understand why some people are disappointed and angry, that still doesn't change how I enjoyed these first two episodes.
It's okay, but season 2 started out okay also. At least Javier is a breath of fresh air and Clementine isn't the sole focus anymore.
only coo thing is u get to smoke for a minute wit k otherwise mediocre also a comic character shows up but yea kinda weak
Yeah, because we have opinions. Sheesh. Seems like people get triggered when people dislike what they like.
yall trippin', S3 is cool
It's alright if you ignore Kate throwing herself at us.
I think it's good and i absolutely understand if people do not like this season since by no means is this a "exceptional" or "wonderful" season. With that said i do think there is a portion of people who are just over obsessed clementine fans who just hate it because clementine isn't the primary playable character
Oh it is for a few very vocal ppl.
This is where people are confused. The problem isn't what we are given, the problem is what we weren't given. There are so many missing elements to the game play and story that it's really dragging it down. The plot so far seems very interesting, and many of us like it, but when you weigh it against what it doesn't have, you have to force yourself to enjoy it. Barely any hubs, can't talk to characters for more than one sentence = no character development, episodes aren't long enough, choices don't matter and choices are too easy.
This is what people are complaining about. These things are what make a Telltale game and what made season 1 so great. Once telltale includes these *vital factors, fans wouldn't be complaining as much as they are. In fact they'd probably be thanking telltale for learning from their past(s2) mistakes. Also due to s2 having to same problems, it makes fans even more agitated that TTG didn't learn the first time.
I love it so much. I was so upset after playing it for the first time but I got over it so easy.
I love it so far. I think most ppl do. It's just that most ppl don't go to forums to praise. Most only come to rant.
I'm not enjoying season 3. I don't like Javier. I can't connect to him. I don't like his skank sister in law. And I don't like his niece or nephew. Even his brother, I could give to craps about. I got more attached to the blond guy with the pony tail who drove him back to the junkyard than him. Do I want another season of Clem meeting a group and watching everyone die? No. She's not with a group now. She's on her own, doing her own thing, and surviving. I would love that.
I also dislike how TTG lied to us. They could have come out and told us that Javier was the main character and that Clem has been pushed to the back, that we only play her in flashbacks. But they didn't do that. They lead us on. And they also wrote Jane and Kenny out of character just to force their deaths. Javier and his whole family could drop dead and I would care less.
I like Javier but I agree with you on not liking his sister in law as she just gets on my nerves and seems to constantly flirt
Yeah, we get it. You've stated that a 100 times whenever anyone mentions Kate.
Aren't you a bowl of sunshine! A game where Clem survives on her own without a group and does nothing but talk to herself would be amazing!
This is what happens on the internet
Yeah dude, it's just these forums are full of a vocal minority.

This is the second advert I've seen where there's almost nothing but praise.
Nobody really has to go out of their way to rant on social media, though. Checking it is a daily part of the routine for a lot of people, and TTs comments sections have been an absolute mess since Tuesday lol
Their Facebook has mostly praise, both their main page and their adverts.
Clementine isn't the main character and people are still dying. Mariana is dead, Kate is currently dying, Francine is dead, if you chose to shoot him, Conrad is dead, and Prescott community has fallen. All in 2 episodes. Clem's not the problem. The writers are.
People just like to complain for the smallest reason.
Because we're two episodes in, and we've only lost one member of the original group who's been together for 4 years while another one is decommissioned with a gunshot wound? At least with Carver, he was a stranger to us and we could only really judge by what we saw and what we were told. Javiers brother is the leader of an antagonistic group, and that's deep because his brother has a 4 year history with him? I've seen the guy in two flashbacks, I know he gets mad when people and cups die and that he can punch. That's it lol.
Episode 1 was good, but rushing into this by giving us a couple minute, barely interactive flashback then dropping us 4 years into the apocalypse with a premade group that almost immediately goes to war with another group is not leaving us with a lot of time to actually get to know our group. The way they act, they've been in suspended animation for 4 years, and we're just now exploring issues that would have arisen years ago.
We must be on the wrong page then, TTs official one has comments full of people complaining about last gen consoles being abandoned, mobile being abandoned, Clem not being around, the old seasons being meaningless, people hating the flashback deaths. It's interspersed with random people praising the game and complaining about complainers. This is on just about everything posted or shared by them since Tuesday.
Maybe Facebook is sorting the comments different for the two of us? I see some of that, but mostly I see praise.
That'd be pretty creepy if that's true.
My app sorts them weird, but using my phones browser displays it better. There's been quite a few replies that end up with reply threads of their own, and some of it gets really petty. This forum is so much more civil by comparison lol
