I'm just imagining them walking down a street and Clementine finding a nice pristine empty wine bottle and turning toward Gabe with a villai… morenous smile and going "are you ready to get corked."

im sorry about typing show it was a spelling error I mean the game and I see you bypassed about what I said happend in episode 1 of season 3 . And all i m saying is it could happen and that people shouldn't bitch about it because their is worse shit that happens in the game
kid got shot in the fucking face in episode 1 of season 3
Did you see Duck get shoot in the face from Lee and Kenny's angle on scree… moren, no. Nobody did. We barely even see Duck's corpse when they are going back to the train, personaly I would've wanted to see it happened on screen.
there is alot of shit that happens on this show thats worse than two minors having sex.
Why are people comparing the show and this game? It's on a totally different level...
There were threads a long time ago when we talked about what kind of gory stuff there might be in the game (like underage Rape... Torture), because of the Mature rating of the game, but none of that stuff happened. And I highly doubt they would do that this season.
I don't hate Gabe, I'm just really disappointed that his character arc is travelling the "Learning to be useful"/"Learning not to be a screwup" road that other characters have done in the past (Ben, Sarah).
For me, rather than his evident character path being a path of learning/growing up, I would have preferred to see a desire for revenge for Marianna and Kate, with Javier deciding whether to promote this quest against The New Frontier or to try and tame it by saying that becoming obsessed with revenge can mess you up. I think if he was shown to be competent and possess a more 'investing' goal outside of "I want to be a man", a lot of the fanbase (not just in the TTG forums, but outside as well) would be more inclined to like him as he has a more personal, interesting and emotional journey to take.
This would have also coincided well with whatever relationship that is being planned between him and Clementine, since it's clear that she's adopted a vendetta or bloodlust against people like The New Frontier, and the reveal of her brand at the end of Episode 2 could have lead to conflict either between Gabe and Clementine or Gabe himself as he has to accept that either Clementine is with The New Frontier or that not everyone in The New Frontier is bad.
And I shouldn't even have to explain how much more interesting this would be after the reveal of David at the end.
For me the reason i don't like him is because he just seems like a generic edgy teenager with a mix of Ben and Nick with him. Another reason i think people don't like him is because of this whole "love interest" thing which personally i think people are overreacting WAY too much to. And lastly people don't like him is because he is the Ben and Nick for S3.

Yeah. He even helped out Javier pushing that garbage can to block off walkers that Javier was struggling with, so he's probably been more helpful than not.
While I agree he definitely isn't at Ben levels of screw-up, there have been moments that lead to this perception.
The fact that he argues to stay in the junkyard, despite the fact that it's abundantly obvious someone lives there and that a herd is going to arrive soon, shows he isn't exactly fitted with the mind of a survivor. Then there's the fact that he openly runs out into the middle of a gunfight despite the fact that Kate just got shot for doing the same thing. And then there's the fact that he abandons/messes up Kate's surgery, after which he acknowledges himself that he isn't doing as well as he should. After that, he pulls out his gun on Conrad as a massive overreaction to Conrad's grief. Finally, there's the fact that he can't handle a couple of walkers and requires Javi/Jesus to rescue him.
I get that there's justifications for all of these, but I honestly don't blame people for automatically seeing him as the 'screw-up' of the group.
He acts like a teenage boy. Teenage boys can be annoying.
Mostly it's the Clementine "crush" thing and the fact that any male character who is deemed overemotional is usually hated on no matter how good of a reason they have to be that way. Not everyone is destined to be the overly competent stoic badass in the face of difficult situations that Clem has become. He's still just a kid.
It's funny because most people don't like kids because they are whiny and annoying. If you ask me, Kenny and Nick were very whiny as well but the fans love them.
To be honest, I think Gabe is a better character than most kids or teens introduced in the game (besides Clementine and Mari)
In comparis… moreon to Duck, Gabe doesn't seem to be dumb or slow when it comes to serious issues and he knows when to stop talking and isn't overly hyper, so he is better than Duck in that regard.
In comparison to Ben, Gabe hasn't really messed anything up yet and he tries to help and is upfront about his issues, so he wins over Ben there.
In comparison to Becca, Gabe knows he has his short comings, but he doesn't try to make up for it by faking toughness and arrogance like Becca did when she backs out from shooting Stephanie, despite volunteering to do so moments before. So he is better than her in that sense.
In comparison to Sarah, Gabe isn't naive or overprotected like Sarah was. Sure he probably has been protected by Javi for most of the outbreak, but Javi didn't go overboard like Carlos did, so Gabe turned… [view original content]
I always had the theory that gamers hate characters that are a little too much like the way they are instead of the way they want to be. Like mopey teenagers, lol.

People here are so weird about Gabe and Clem getting together, it's getting to the point where it's sort of pathetic. Romance is never big in the walking dead and when it's used it's always a subplot. It'll be even more minor since it's a thirteen year old girl, but some of y'all need to chill.

Are teen boys that moody? Right now I'm on the fence with him. He shall be named Chris 2.0. I lost his mom when he was still young (I'm guessing she left David and left the kids behind). Then he watched his grandpa bite his grandma's face, and his uncle bash his head in. He then loses his dad. Most likely he watched as his uncle again, killed his great(?) uncle. (Do we know who is the guy who got scratched by Javier's dad? I assumed he was his dad's brother.) (And his sister) And for four years they haven't had a stable place, just on the road, living out of their van. And not to mention his hormones.
Yeah, coming of age when the dead want to eat you is hard. He wants to find himself. He's going through stuff n thangs. I think Clem will be a huge positive in his life. Someone who is his age, someone he can talk to and open up to. It would be good for them both. But do you think TT would even give Clem a true romance right now?
The fact that he argues to stay in the junkyard, despite the fact that it's abundantly obvious someone lives there and that a herd is going to arrive soon, shows he isn't exactly fitted with the mind of a survivor.
So did Mariana.
Then there's the fact that he openly runs out into the middle of a gunfight despite the fact that Kate just got shot for doing the same thing.
To save Kate. Why did she run out there again?
And then there's the fact that he abandons/messes up Kate's surgery, after which he acknowledges himself that he isn't doing as well as he should.
Understandable, but true.
After that, he pulls out his gun on Conrad as a massive overreaction to Conrad's grief.
Conrad was getting a little aggressive in his despair and Gabe did make me a little nervous, but at least he showed that he's ready to fight when necessary and won't shoot when it's not.
Finally, there's the fact that he can't handle a couple of walkers and requires Javi/Jesus to rescue him.
Pretty sure Javier had him and Marianna stay out of combat for years.
Don't mean to sound like I'm combating you on this; just pointing out the technicals.

He certainly does act like the stereotypical moody teenage boy who wants to "become a man". Wants to help desperately but ends up screwing up so I understand the Ben and Nick comparisons and I seem to have a soft spot for this kind of character because I want to help him too even if his personality is more grating than the other two.
It's really hard to make likable child characters to be honest. Most of the times they are trouble. For example, I wasn't too fond of Ellie from the last of us, but she is one of the best characters ever if you ask most people.
It's why so many people so vitriolically hated Ben too. They're mad because most people know that out of all the Walking Dead characters, they'd probably be the most like a Ben or Gabe. If they even survived that long.
I always had the theory that gamers hate characters that are a little too much like the way they are instead of the way they want to be. Like mopey teenagers, lol.
Why do you think so? If you have played the gameplay you will find that gabe sees Clem as a very cool person they are both teenagers so they both would have more clear understanding b/w each other
No, I'm talking about Gabe. No offense, but it sounds like you're blaming him for his dad's bad behavior.
Unless I'm seriously missing something, the bulk of Gabe's screentime has him wanting to be of help to the others, right down to risking his life to do so for Kate, and even taking Clementine's side when Conrad learns her secret. Heck, his introduction is him showing up and questioning his dad's mistreatment of his uncle. I think it's safe to say that that's not gonna be the case.
I do not dislike Gabe, but I can't say that I really care for him as a character. I understand that he has good reasons to be so annoying - the situation they are in, his age, and people deal with grief in different ways - but he is still annoying all the same.
BUT... He is the only family Javier has (David is going to be a villain, he doesn't count) so I will do whatever it takes to protect him.
And I said he's becoming like his dad. I never said he was a bully yet, but the signs are there. Pulling a gun on a grieving man whose venting is typical bully behaviour. And he flat out said he wants to be more like his dad who "knows how to act like man".

I dont hate him. He ran to help Kate and stood up for Javier and Clementine when Conrad went crazy. He only needs to work a little more on his tactics and he would be an awesome survivor. Jesus should teach him a lot of his moves.

I suddenly feel the urge to start an art request thread... characters in dumb/impossible/unlikely scenarios

Even though he has yet to significantly screw-up anything and has been pretty battle ready ever since his sister died.
Yeah. He even helped out Javier pushing that garbage can to block off walkers that Javier was struggling with, so he's probably been more helpful than not.

This is the most accurate answer anyone could give
Just wait till he gets boners, then the whole world will be darker for him

Just like I said, he'll be the main character in the next season. :P
The lines you don't think about.
I can't believe I'm about to do this but...

Yeah. Ironically enough, I'm pretty sure the game series got popular because it portrayed everyone as real people.
He certainly does act like the stereotypical moody teenage boy who wants to "become a man". His mimic and behaviour reminds me of Ben.
I hate Ben.
Gabe is pretty clearly turning into his dad, a giant bully.
You wonder why gamers might have a problem with bullies?
Because he's not good for our clem -_-
Why do you think so? If you have played the gameplay you will find that gabe sees Clem as a very cool person they are both teenagers so they both would have more clear understanding b/w each other
A bully?
Are you kidding? He pushes his brother around, his wife around, his kids around.
He's a giant douche.
I do think Javier can influence him to not be like his dad, hopefully.
No, I'm talking about Gabe. No offense, but it sounds like you're blaming him for his dad's bad behavior.

Wow, you had some sucky teachers then.
Perhaps you meant "he acts how teenage boys are stereotypically depicted."
Stereotypes exist for a reason. I've seen plenty of teenagers that act like him.
I dont hate him. He ran to help Kate and stood up for Javier and Clementine when Conrad went crazy. He only needs to work a little more on his tactics and he would be an awesome survivor. Jesus should teach him a lot of his moves.
You can't assume that male teenagers act a certain way from your personal experience. There are bound to be inaccurate generalizations.
Yes; they're mental shortcuts that allow people to avoid acknowledging that there is diversity inside demographic groups.
