The LiS fan base is definitely huge but I think the Walking Dead has a bigger name. If it's your first time voting and you've never played any of these games, TWD TV show itself exuding anything about the game, would make people vote for the TWD just for names sake.
I don't know, I think the LiS fanbase is much bigger than you think. Maybe it's because many fans are always very vocal about the game, but … morewith the amount of money put into it by Square Enix, the huge amount of advertising that went on with it, and so on and so forth, I thought LiS was the way more popular game compared to TWD, a game that, while associated with TWD series, was made by Telltale, a relatively small gaming company and had little to no marketing behind it.
This guy is practically taking LiS losing as a personal offense
All of those posts seem like an attempt to prove that LiS is objectively better-- talking about the sales and everything like that
He's fishing for a reason to praise LiS, whilst putting down TWD, because he isn't comfortable with TWD winning over what he perceives to be the better game in his subjective opinion
This is what happens when you put too much stock in what other people say, instead of just valuing how you yourself feel about something
It's like whenever someone says something negative about LiS, his go to responses are either
* You just don't get it.
* LiS sold more … morethan TWD (in fact, he made a thread on that in the LiS forum on Steam shortly after it was revealed TWD won: On Steam, Life is Strange has "outsold" The Walking Dead Season 1, winning where it truly counts. He appears to think that, because it sold more, LiS is, therefore, the better game.
One of his main arguments is that LiS is more realistic than TWD, despite it's main character getting unexplained time powers and a bunch of supernatural disasters happening as a result of it. This is in response to someone saying how both games are both fantasy but rely on realistic elements:
Wrong
The Walking Dead finds its realism in its fantasy scenario. The drama stems from the zombie apocalypse, a sci fi and fantasy element.

Oh completely. He's looking at stuff like sales, but he almost never looks at the overall quality of the game, and when you do stuff like that, along with shit on its closest competition, it not only makes you look like a baby, but that the game isn't nearly as good as you think it is. You should let the game be able to speak for itself, not have to deride another one to prove a point. Yeah I may talk about the good things about TWD, but I wouldn't then talk about how awful LiS is in comparison to prove my point, I'd let the game do that for me.

Yes, but LiS also had a ton of wins and nominations as well, not to mention awards for best narrative or best original game, etc. And let's face it, with it being published by Square Enix, it had a lot more money put into the marketing of it compared to Telltale with TWD. And (while I hate to say that he is right), as that texasgoldrush guy pointed out, LiS has sold more than TWD.
I thought LiS was the way more popular game compared to TWD
Honestly, it's the other way around. And this is coming from someone who voted for LiS.
I mean, TWDS1 did win 80 GOTY awards, right? :P
Another thing is why bother attacking the opposing side, when you can just fall back on the fanbase you're already a part of?
What I mean is, why bother arguing with, let's say, one dude calling a game you like bad, when there's about a thousand other people that feel the same way you do? You don't have to prove anything to anyone. You can just fall back on the people that feel the way you do. Why get fired up over what one guy says when you could exit the thread and find 10 other people that feel the same way you do?
Similarly, this guy has the entire LiS fanbase to fall back on. Why bother attacking the people that like TWD? They feel the way they feel, you feel the way you feel. Instead of trying to change people's minds, or whatever the hell you're trying to accomplish here, just spare yourself the trouble and go talk with like-minded people instead. Because chances are, neither side is going to convince the other of anything.

I expected LiS to win so badly I didn't really care about the results because it was obvious LiS was going to win.
I'm happy TWD surprisingly won! Definitely unexpected! Take that LiS! :P
While I enjoyed Life is Strange, I dont understand why it was even a question whether or not The Walking Dead would beat it, Life is Strange was good in some areas, but it definitely wasnt very sad, at least that how I feel
As said by others, I was completely expecting Life is Strange to win due to it's rather vocal fanbase. Glad we were wrong
I went onto th… moree LiS Reddit page just to see their reaction and the fanbase is pretty split on the results. Half of them are praising The Walking Dead and the other half are salty and complaining that it was a popularity contest.
I don't understand why people would get so upset over a certain game not winning. I mean, I can understand being bummed out about a certain … moregame not winning. If LiS won, I would be a little bummed that TWD didn't, but I'd leave it at that. More people voted for TWD, so what? That doesn't change the simple fact that whatever game you voted for on that list was sadder for you than TWD was. TWD winning an award doesn't automatically make you wrong. It doesn't mean the game you voted for is no longer sad. It doesn't have to mean anything to you, unless you decide to take it personally and make it a bigger problem than it really is.
They WON? Who murdered like half of the Life is Strange fan base what the fuck
They give us shitty S3 flashbacks and we give them votes for steam awards. The shit I do for TT.

The ending to Life is Strange wasn't even sad, it was weird.
That guy is being big baby about it all.
Well deserved win, Telltale.

I've checked both the steam pages of LiS and TWD, and there's alot more who have voted for TWD. I already knew TWDS1 was a guaranteed win anyways.
That texasgoldrush guy is just salty af.

I actually thought LiS was going to win LOL But this is unexpected,
Well done to everyone that voted
I celebrated Chloe's death.

Will this win somehow inspire them to make the current season more emotionally invested and story rich like the first one?
I bet not.
Yeah, go Telltale!
Big question is: Why are overrated characters like Max Caulfield and Chloe Price beloved so much?
Congrats, I guess.
^This .Season 1 hit the heartstrings VERY well. No wonder why it won the Steam Awards
No big surprise, really. I almost had something in my eye after it was over. Glad I voted for it ; ) !
Yay!
I'd still prefer LiS over even TWD S1 to be honest xd
