So I just played S1 for the first time

So I just played Season 1 for the first time and I can't believe how good it is to actually have played it for myself, it's so much better than ANF and tbh I honestly wasn't hoping for that.

One thing I realized is how much care and emphasis is put on Clementine just for them to turn around and make her role so small now it just doesn't make sense

Lee is really cool too and I totally forgot about all the crap kenny went through

Makes you wonder why these characters are just all gone now I mean just so much potential, imagine javi and lee or Kenny or even luke for that matter

  • You played S1 after ANF and want to give your opinion?

    Okay then.

  • I don't see anything wrong with it.

  • There's three more episodes remaining though, so still time plenty of potential screen time left for her. I am worried about her given how expendable supporting characters have been throughout the series. But yea, season 1 was amazing. Lee was well done, and it was really easy to get behind him and his relationships because everything and everyone was pretty much as new to him as they were to you. The way they handled the relationship between him and Clem was always fantastic, they managed to make a her endearing enough to care about her wellbeing without her feeling like a burden.

I loved the characters too. There were things I liked and disliked about most of them, but I couldn't bring myself to hate them because I felt like I understood where they were coming from. Carly and Katjaa were the only ones I had zero problems with, they were sweethearts. And the ending, the whole final episode, I was all in for. I had the same no matter the cost attitude Lee had, and felt like it was something I had to do. Any complaints I had with the season were far outweighed by how great it was. Honestly, the first seasons were the first games I bought when I got a next console, and I went through both of them immediately so I could have my save ready for season 3.

  • Me neither.

  • She has practically just as much shine time in TNF as she does in Season 1.

Overall, actionwise, TNF is better. Longer and character built, Season 1 is better.

TNF just needs some down time to get to know the characters a little more.

  • ANF is great don't get me wrong but having never played Season 1 before I can see now why alot of people may be upset as far as content length and character development

  • Try and play season 2 as well. It may not have as good of writing as season 1, but it's still acceptable, the art style, the ambient feel of the menu and the first three episodes are my favorite in my opinion.
But, 400 days is kind of a rip off. You can play it if you want, but they only had three second cameos for each character you convinced to take with you. Rather instead they focus on Bonnie more than any of the others, which is pretty disappointing.

  • Hard to say, I like season 2 way more than A New Frontier so far, but its a pretty debated subject, there are quite a few people that like A New Frontier better as far as I can tell.

Anyways, season 2 is still really good, and helps you understand quite a bit more about Clementine, and why she is how she is

  • You should have played S1 before the newer ones.

  • Ah, the good old days back when Walking Dead was about story and character development!

  • I was in the minority that Loved Batman the series and I actually don't like DC at all. I thought that the story was consistent and the characters were well made. The sex scene was very well done and the next day at her apartment was just as good.

  • God what I wouldn't give to be able to erase my memory and do a blind run through season 1 again.

Yea same and when I even started I already knew how it was going to be, because I watched a few guys do a playthrough. So I knew what was going to happen for the first few episodes. Did make my own story though.

And btw, you double posted XD

  • RIP double post.

Also same, I only watched cryaotic's videos of it for years and have only recently been able to actually play the games myself, I only just got ANF so I spoiled the first two episodes for myself before I got to play it. The third episode of the season will be the first time I get to play it without knowing what will happen!

  • Yeah I've played S1 more times than any other TT game, mainly because Walking Dead The Game got me into Tell Tale. I've since played all of their games after Walking Dead and have 100%ed the two games shortly before Walking Dead which are Back to the Future (2010) and Jurassic Park (2011). I never get tired of how amazing S1 of Walking Dead is.

  • If there is anything I have learned from The Last of Us, its that I will never again watch a playthrough of something on youtube if there is even the slightest chance that I want to play it in the future, I never played The Last of Us before after watching it on youtube, because I thought I would never have a chance to play it.

Luckily, while I did watch the start of.. I think Pewdiepies, and Cry's playthrough of The Walking Dead, other videos came out that I was more interested in, so I only ever got like half an hour in to the first episode, so this December, I finally got around to buying these games on sale, and honestly, I wish I would have payed full price so long ago, such good games I dont even know

  • I usually can't afford them so I just watch them. I can now afford the games and have an Xbox one but alas I just moved away from home for college so I can't play it unless I go home :(

    Life can be so unfair

  • Same, Im curious about how Telltales "Clem new approach to players" really felt/worked.

  • It's actually good at giving a different perspective.

  • I can't wait for this blind lets player to finish season 1 and see ANF differently.

We don't have the complete product of ANF, so we can't say, but I predict season 2 will be vastly better than ANF for me. The way ANF has headed so far hasn't been exactly the best experience, and I honestly loved season 1 the best, season 2 was also really good too, now """season 3""" comes along and it's nowhere near as interesting for me. ANF feels like a mini-series rather than a continuation of the stories of 1 & 2, in fact, it has little to nothing to do with the previous seasons. It's all about the new players this time around because Telltale thinks a lot of people will buy the game, and won't play the previous two, it's just sad to see TWDG go this direction.

  • Agreed. I feel like I don't care about these characters at all because, even after 2 episodes, I still don't really know them yet.

  • It's all starting to make sense now, why she is the way she is now, I think I definitely understand her better, I liked her a lot even before I played S1 but now it's like 10x

  • I do feel close to Javier and Tripp is enjoyable.

Of course, Clementine and Javier are getting most of the shine haha.
