Well Mari is definitely up there. I really liked her.
Clementine's death of being a main character.
It's gotta be Lee, seems like the most obvious answer
Doug.
Ok but I'm not a huge Douge fan but I respect what you think.
The death of good quality in future seasons.
Honestly, I think Ben's episode 5 death is one of the more tragic ones.
In episode 5, Ben shows a lot of signs of improvement, that he might just be able to get his act together and atone for his past mistakes... only for it to get cut short by a freak accident; a bad coin toss. His death wasn't caused by anyone, not even himself-- fate just screwed him over while he was on the redemptive path.
And that's what makes it stand out to me. It makes the death feel natural. Like they say, not everyone gets the heroic and appropriate send-off. Sometimes shit just happens, and people go out a lot less gracefully than they deserve to. Case in point with Ben.
They've tried to do other deaths in a similar vein-- like Kenny's S3 death... but that just doesn't work right in comparison to one like Ben's. It has the right amount of underlying tragedy to it, thanks to how his character was handled leading up to it, that made that death feel like a worthy conclusion to Ben's character arc. But we're not here to talk crap, so I'll leave it at that.
Duck is another one. Unlike quite a lot of people, I never hated the kid. And seeing him just slowly die like that was honestly tough to deal with. And I sympathized heavily with Kenny and Kat in that situation; their son is dying in front of them, and they can't do anything to stop it. All they can do is try to come to terms with the inevitable. And we see the two of them respond in very different ways-- Katjaa tries to keep Duck as comfortable as possible, while Kenny tries to run from it, too grief-stricken and guilt-riddled to accept that he can't do a damn thing about what's happening to Duck.
Point being: Duck's manner of death just by itself is already an incredibly tragic way to go-- but the fact that he's just a kid, and that his parents are there to see it every step of the way, powerless to do anything, just makes it even worse. All of the scenes with Duck in episode 3 are still quite tough for me to play through, even to this day. They still manage to shake me up.
Oh, and Kenny's S2 death. The first one, when you first get the option to shoot him. The reason being because it demonstrates how far he's fallen since S1. If he died back in the alley at S1, it would have been a respectable send-off. He could have passed on a high note, you know? But in S2, there's nothing heroic or honorable about the way he dies-- he's just put down like a rabid animal. And in his last few moments, laying there in the cold, he admits that he's afraid. His S1 'death' was going out with a bang, his S2 death is going out with a whimper. A man cheats death once... only for death to still get the last laugh in the end.
And hell, I suppose the second death where you shoot him in the head could also count, when you think about it; at that point, Kenny has lost his will to live-- his wife and son are dead, his new girlfriend is dead, the baby he has personally sworn to protect is assumed dead, and the last person in the world that he still cares about is holding a gun to his head, poised to kill him. And he doesn't argue, he doesn't fight... he just solemnly tells her to get it over with.
The death of a masterpiece.

Is this a joke? You're joking right?
Oh don't start. If you disagree then fine, you're allowed to, just please do not start with this crap.
Oh, you're entitled to your own opinion. I just simply cannot believe people think that Mari's episode 1 death was actually tragic. Yea she's a little girl but fuck she had no character development at all, like most of the new s3 characters. I only wish that Mari and Gabe traded places. TellTale wanted to go for an immediate SHOCKING death and it doesn't fucking work. With this new season it seems that TellTale thinks we are all retards that will get immediately attached to characters we know nothing about.
The most tragic death for me is the death of TellTale, their longtime fans and The Walking Dead franchise because they wanted to "appeal to a new audience" in the middle of a fucking series. Fuck them, and fuck season 3.
Lee, he's a bit above Kenny's in S2 if you shoot and Luke's(if you fall in the lake trying to save him, luke grabs a walker that's about to attack Clem, and it ends up dragging him down) for me.
There's been a fair share of deaths, thinking on them so many were wasted on shock value or because determinant. Carley/Doug by the RV, Nick on the fence. Imagine how powerful Maris death could have been if she was someone we talked to more three times? They've written some really good stuff, it sucks when a bad one pops up.
I'm not really one to defend season 3 but looking at the situation of Mari's death it actually was tragic. Little kid dies only because she's caught in the crossfire of a battle that she had really nothing to do with other than be related to the people who were actually apart of it. And on top of all of that they come in contact with her father again (I'm assuming they had a good relationship) very quickly after her death. So yeah, to be honest I don't really see how you can call it anything but tragic. (Tragic also doesn't have to mean incredibly emotional for the player, I consider it for the characters as well.)
It wasn't because she was a kid. She was really just really likable and I grew attached to her fairly quickly. And it was more than just a "shocking" death to me.
That is what tragic means though. Yes, it's a bummer she died. I liked her too(as much as you could like someone in the 40 mins you know them.) but honestly was a facepalm when she did die. It's just TellTale being fucking lazy again and offing one more character so they don't have to worry about them, just like they did with Kenny and Jane in a pathetic fucking flashback that lasted like 5 mins. Like I said, TellTale thinks that since we know a minuscule amount of Javi's backstory we are immediately in love with his whole family, which isn't the case at all. Most of Javi's family are completely disposable(ex. MARI) because we don't know JACK SHIT about them.
This is a good assessment. She really was a pretty sweet girl, dying like that was terrible. It's just a shame we barely knew her, her dying left as minimal impact on me as Dougs because she was still pretty much a stranger, despite my sympathy for their passing. I think some people tend to view characters they're attached to passing as being more tragic because of the personal relationship.
Is calling Telltale lazy whenever anyone doesn't like what they do with a character just a cop-out argument for everyone right now? I was talking about the situation and about the tragic nature of it in the characters eyes. I can definitely see how you don't feel that way about it, but to say you don't understand how others can feel that way just shows to me that you aren't looking that deep into the subject.
She was the one out of the three of Javi's family members that I did like. I fucking hate Gabe with every ounce of my being, and Kate I couldn't give one less shit about. Mari was a nice little girl, she was, but TellTale always likes to kill off the good characters first. LUKE, CARLEY, MARK, ALVIN.
Edit: Doesn't matter what TellTale game, all episode one deaths don't phase me a bit. Like they're not even real characters in the game. A full TellTale episode isn't enough to get me attached to a character, and since the episodes are shortened by 50% in this stupid fucking excuse for a TellTale game, it's definitely not enough.
TellTale is lazy as fuck with this season. The short ass episodes, the unlikable characters that we got hardly a backstory on, the COMPLETELY NEW SET OF CHARACTERS TO TAKE OUR MINDS OFF OF THE MULTIPLE ENDINGS OF S2 THAT DON'T MATTER A DAMN EVEN THOUGH TELLTALE CLEARLY STATES THAT THEY DO, the fact that not only just the endings, but any choices that you made in s1 and 2 are completely irrelevant in this season except for the flashbacks, oh yea and the flashbacks too. Fucking pathetic excuses to list Clem as a "co playable character" when she is not at all.
But Luke died in episode 5?
Anyway personally I disagree, I really like Gabe and Kate. Gabe's currently my favorite believe it or not.
Yes he died in episode 5. But Bonnie, Mike, or Arvo could have taken his place.
Not really disagreeing with that but I don't see how that's related to what I said.
You questioned why I called them lazy, and I answered. lol
I questioned why everyone calls Telltale lazy when they disagree with their decisions regarding character deaths.
Whatever, it's no biggie anyway
Seems to me that most people see it as lazy when a character's arc doesn't go the way they want.
hery mann, i cracked up laughing when that little girl got blasted in the face
yuo look really pretty mann, mind if i lick your lush face?

I agree with Noodles, but everybody's entitled to their own opinion.
The death was predictable and there wasn't enough character development for me to go, "NO. MARI. NOOOO."
I was just like, "oh.... shit..."
The forums in a nutshell.
For me, the definite answer is Norma.
u luv it
"her dying left as minimal impact on me as Dougs"
adds another name to the to-doom list
Most violent maybe or gruesome but tragic... nah
