Does Clementine even understand the concept of sex?

Clementine seemed pretty shocked when she saw Luke and Jane having sex with each other... But does that really mean that she gets what they were doing? Has anyone actually explained the concept of sex to her? If so, who?

Here's a poll about whether she knows or not: http://strawpoll.me/2238084

Here's a poll about who taught her: http://strawpoll.me/2238099

I'm pretty sure she does, she's not an idiot.

  • I'm sure she knows, probably Christa taught her.

  • She knows trust me. You don't think she didn't hear omid and christa shacking up from time to time those months she was with them.

  • I think Christa might have taught her somewhere along the 16 months. Probably because Clem asked where Christa's child came from and she had to explain it to her. As for the first poll, I just voted that she knew that they were fucking but she didn't know why.

    You tell me...

  • "Christa and I are gonna go hunting. Stay here and, uh, guard the campfire."

  • Yeah by the way she reacted I think she does. Christa also probably explained it when she was prego since they had a lot of time together.

I think it's kinda funny that people are voting for Lee. I doubt Lee explained the concept of sex to an 8-year-old.

  • I's say she totally does... the talk she had with Jane about Luke... right before Jane left, it seemed like she knew.

  • Well she did hang out with Christa for what like 2 years, so it possibly rubbed off on her.

The way she worded it, it didn't seem like she understood the concept of casual sex, at least. It seemed more like she thought the two were lovers, or that they were going to have a child.

"What about Luke? Aren't you two..."

  • I think Christa said the old lie "When 2 people love each other very much...." I don't think she explained the sex concept at all. She is a little young for the exact details of sex anyways, hasn't even hit puberty yet.

  • Whyyyy. Why does this need to be discussedddd

  • The way she asked Rebecca whose baby it was...Clementine knows how babies are made.

  • Like what Piggs said I think that she has an idea of what sex is but she doesn't understand the concept of casual sex

  • Haha i could imagine christa teaching her. She was probably like "it all started during vegas weekend..."

  • Well, it's not like anything here NEEDS to be discussed. It's just interesting to think about.

She most likely does, and for who taught her? It would've been Christa... I mean, Clementine would've asked her the age old question - "Where do babies come from?"

I recall multiple times where Lee had to point out to the other characters that Clem isn't an idiot, or how she's smart for her age.

If Lee keeps lying and trying to sugarcoat things for her, I recall she says in one occasion "I'm not stupid, Lee. I know that's not true."

I think she most likely knows. She's very perceptive and catches onto things rather fast.

  • What do you think they were doing at the beginning of S2E1 at the rest stop? It's totally hinted at. "Vegas weekend"? ;-)

  • I'm guessing that Christa probably had to do a sex-ed type talk with Clementine, especially given the fact that Clem is on the cusp of puberty (I started puberty at her age, 11/12 yrs. old). Poor Clem would've been clueless about all the information because she was only 8(?) when she last saw her mom, so it's unlikely her mom had that talk with her. Little girls around Clem's age need to talk with an older woman about those things. Boys too, but girls especially because female puberty can be a bit more complicated.

  • Lol. I agree. He probably would have been very uncomfortable having such a talk with Clem. My bet is on Christa, especially because Clem is a bit older (more age appropriate for the sex-ed talk) when she's with Christa. She's right at the age that kids start having those talks with parents and sex-ed classes at school. We did sex-ed in 5th and 6th grade, if I recall correctly. 8 years old is like 3rd grade (even though Telltale wrote Clem as being an 8 yr. old 1st grader, which is kind of old for that grade) and 3rd grade is a bit early for sex-ed.

  • True. She could have just thought they were kissing or something. Kids can be naive about that type of stuff. Personally, I think I knew about sex at that age, although my knowledge was obviously very limited. lol

  • Whether she knows or doesn't, why does it matter? I doubt she'll be having sex, even when she's of age. Clem ain't got time for that. Besides, condoms will eventually expire(if you ever come across them), so eventually it's going to be too much of a risk to have sex and end up having a baby. As we can see from Rebecca's situation, having a baby in the middle of the apocalypse is not a good idea.

Not season 1 i don't think. She was 8 and I don't think her parents would have given her "the talk" yet. Perhaps Christa told her during that 16 month skip? Like a really awkward talk, but she probably didn't need to explain a lot since they were mostly focused on survival. I don't think she really understands tbh, she looked pretty confused to what Jane and Luke were doing.

  • You bet me to it.

I know, right? Like, does that face not tell you that she knows?

    You tell me...

  • I think she just looks confused...

  • I'm sure she does at this point...

  • That's clear disgust.

    Don't play poker.

  • Nobody forced you to enter the thread.

Whyyyy. Why does this need to be discussedddd

  • Did no one else pick the Why? Because you made it with luke option when trying to convince jane to join the campfire?

  • Didn't someone else make a thread about this not too long ago? :p

  • Well this is from 2014, someone just bumped it .-.

Didn't someone else make a thread about this not too long ago?

  • Then shouldn't it be closed? Since there's already a new one?

There's actually a decent chance that she still doesn't. She's been basically alone since the events of Season 2, who would teach her anything?

I'm sure she does at this point...

  • I made this thread two years ago, and looking back, it's pretty shitty and there isn't much more to discuss. I'm just gonna get it locked.
