They could have followed with what Tales from the borderlands and Game of thrones did and the flashbacks are really short , like 10 minutes max. That was more than likely going to be the case for the rest of the season.
Well there's the flashbacks which we haven't even seen all of yet. Plus Clementine is still a major character. (despite others claiming that she's a side character.) It seems like Telltale made the best compromise they could to me.
It can be done but that's the player's choice (or the viewer's choice in this case). You're still supposed to start with Season 1 Episode 1 to understand the story well chronologically (I'm not saying it's not possible to understand the story well if you start in the middle).
They advertise offers and always say "brand new customers only"
Regarding Telltale's effort to attract new players with Season 3, they get an F for the following reasons:
The first two episodes are a lot shorter than previous seasons
A new player starting with Season 3 will get the worst possible start. Bioware did the same thing with ME3 when anyone not importing saves from previous games was unable to Charm/Intimidate The Illusive Man on Mars
There was no reason for new players to be interested in playing as Javier. The description given was about him meeting Clementine. New player: "Who the hell is Clementine"
Then they should plan their story in advance (and if tweaks and changes have to be made, they can make them). Judging by the interview, there are far too many rewrites which reinforces how they didn't plan much for this season. They also know they shouldn't have split the Episode into two (they are really short).
A lot of people seem to forget this, but prior to A New Frontier's release a large number of people didn't want to play as Clementine anymor… moree. People are saying Telltale doesn't listen to their fans, but it seems pretty clear to me that their decision to introduce Javier was based on fan feedback.
I'm not sarcastic. Kenny is the main aspect of Season Two and was the connection with Season One, except for Clementine and her comments about Lee. I don't see how that can be seen as a bad thing.
Why do you think it isn't great? Sure, S2 isn't as good as S1 and most of the new characters were not really good, but Kenny and Clem were the main aspects of S2 and the story-progression about these two is fantastic.

I don't know why they are trying to appeal to new fans anyway. Point and click games are a niche market anyway. They were popular in the 90's, yet now, you will find some people that like these games and others that hate them. TT should go back to their indy roots.
Bethesda releases Special Edition for people to get where the story is coming from on an updated game. This is much like it, A New Frontier being released to appeal to newcomers because in the beginning, they make you 'Create-a-Clem' telling their story. Means probably that Telltale is probably going to implement a lot of ANF into Season 3. Hence the catch up.
Sometimes i check peoples profiles out just something i do, and i haven't seen anyone who has joined in 2012 when season 1 was out, i 've se… moreen only a a few in 2013 but that's very slim maybe 1 or 2 besides the moderators of course. It's mostly people who have joined 2014 to present who are still on here. Im sure they probably have played ANF, just don't post on here anymore i guess.
One thing i've noticed about these forums is you do get the standard trolls, but everyone on here can have conversations with each other in a respectful manner, after all, these are forums for us to connect with people who enjoy the same game and we can chat about the games and even general talk. It's good to share stuff you have in common with others.

I used to look at the forums to see the release dates and any leaked info, but never joined because i was only interested in the game, not so much socialising with other gamers until TNF came out i decided to join, bit late but better late then never.

There are probably a hell of a lot of things we have in common KCohere, just not about Kenny lol. I've said this to @Everyone'sClemInTime as well. We should start a community outside of the forums.
No i didn't hear about a reboot but like with most film remakes or revamped shows, they'll never be as good as the original. But thanks for letting me know
The flashbacks we didn't even "play" as Clem. We chose a few dialogue options and a couple of stupid Q&E's and that's it! That wasn't playing as Clem and if that is what Telltale think is acceptable then their ship may as well sink now
Well there's the flashbacks which we haven't even seen all of yet. Plus Clementine is still a major character. (despite others claiming that she's a side character.) It seems like Telltale made the best compromise they could to me.
This. They seem to think that the current fanbase is dwindling and leaving, therefore they need to acquire a new fanbase which as you say do… moreesn't exist.
But the reason people are leaving is because of the streamlined features of the series' and the declining quality of the games that they are making. Why bother forking out $20 or whatever for a game when virtually every playthrough is the same with little to no variation in choices and you can just watch your favourite YouTuber play it for you?
2012 (The Walking Dead) - 2,204,250 copies
2013 (The Walking Dead Season 2) - 1,187,793 copies
2013 (The Wolf Among Us) - 991,554 copies
2014 (Tales from the Borderlands) - 638,922 copies
2014 (Game of Thrones) - 563,614 copies
2015 (Minecraft: Story Mode) - 208,392 copies
2016 (The Walking Dead Michonne) - 164,163 copies
2016 (Batman - The TellTale Series) - 124,716 copies
2016 (The Walking Dead - A New Frontier) - 113,958 copies
ANF is likely to outsell a few of those lesser titles due to its status as a returning series, but I hope you get the picture.
EDIT: I'd also like to point out that all of these, save Game of Thrones ($29.99) and TWD Michonne ($14.99) are all priced at $24.99.
It really, really doesn't. Anyone who is remotely interested in narrative-driven games will have heard of or know about TellTale by now - especially their flagship TWD.
Why do you think it is that there are so few games that are driven by story or the effect of 'choices' in games? Because it is currently a very niche market with very special parameters as far as games go. I can think of TellTale, Dontnod for Life is Strange, Until Dawn and the David Cage games (Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls etc).
And many of the fans of these games don't even purchase them because they recognise the thin veil of gameplay and the illusion of choice, so they resign themselves to watching their favourite YouTube or Twitch streamer to play it.
Sure, they need to grow their consumer base, but you're not going to do that by trying to advertise to new people... While keeping the games themselves the same and not appealing to people who weren't interested in the first place. All you do in that regard is waste time and money doing so and alienating your current consumer base.
All the while, the things that are actually keeping sales down and even driving away their current consumer base are TellTale's refusal to learn from the things that made their previous titles flawed.
therefore they need to acquire a new fanbase which as you say doesn't exist.
Lol. Of course it exists. This is how all businesses work. You don't stay in business if you don't grow your consumer base.
While they haven't explicitly come out and made it obvious, it isn't too far a stretch to say they are putting more effort in courting new players rather than reassuring the current fanbase and have put a large emphasis and focus for new players:
"This third new season will serve as both a continuation of what's come before in our story, as well as an all-new beginning set nearly four years after the outbreak events of Season One," said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games.
"We also confirmed today that The Walking Dead: A New Frontier will act as a new beginning for players fresh to the series and unfamiliar with Clementine, as well as a continuation for players who have experienced Seasons One and Two. If you're new to the series, you'll be able to start a story that's tailored to this new beginning."
There's also the infamous "This is Javier's story" quote, which I can't find right now, but this was arguably the opening shot that made people question the continuity and loyalty of TellTale to the series.
I'm not going to go around gathering more quotes and evidence but trust me when I say there's enough sentiment here for people to at least question how much TellTale care about its previous works and fans.
It's really a dumb move I don't know why are they trying to do doing this now... in the process they're losing the old fans, and I don't really see how they are "appealing" it to the new fans at all, they pushed Clementine on the side and that's it, there's nothing new or interesting that we haven't seen before,no original story-wise or character-wise, in this series...
Mamma mia, looks like some of you guys need a game called The Walking Clementine. Get a tamagotchi or something, you can see your little baby grow up from the beginning till the end, 24/7.

It is just my opinion. No need to be condescending because you don't agree with it.
Stop being passive aggressive and belittling everyone for disagreeing with you

I'm not. It seems to me that's what you're doing. I simply stated my opinion, you're the one fishing for an argument.
How can you say that given the fact that season 3 isn't even finished?
Not all people liked Kenny and the way everybody is forced to interact with him.
I mean, they overlyfuckedup, so.....

When I finished S1, S2 ep2 was just being released. I got on the forums after S2 wrapped up b/c I was so obsessed with the game.
Well, if they had, then it wouldn't be overreacting, just reacting.
Hi
Hi still going strong (- :
I used to look at the forums to see the release dates and any leaked info, but never joined because i was only interested in the game, not so much socialising with other gamers until TNF came out i decided to join, bit late but better late then never.
Im basiclly just a limping smartass at this point.
Skyrim was an amazing game though. It actually got me into Oblivion.
I think we're not. Don't worry about it Cappy
