I can't stop crying

I finally completed S1 about 30 mins ago and I can't stop crying

This game really provoked such a great deal of emotion and now I finally truly understand why most don't like ANF

All we want is for them to make us cry again lmao

Seriously tho I'm sad af

The pain never really goes away, but you'll find a way to put it in a place in your mind where you won't think about it.

  • :(

It still is a powerful moment after all of these years.

As a guy, I have to admit that I was crying at the end of S1.
Some tears also came in S2s ending with a certain ending...

Right now, I'm waiting to see how E3 of S3 is before I buy the game..

  • Yeah I was crying when Kenny gave his speech also. Kenny is my bro !

Given that the OP hasn't played S2 yet from the looks of it, I'm gonna edit out that comment about the S2 ending, if you don't mind. Even if you spoiler tag a comment, it still shows up in the person's feed, so they might still see it.

Better safe than sorry and all that

  • That part killed me on the inside almost as much as Lee's death. When they do a death right, they really nail it.

Yeah I was crying when Kenny gave his speech also. Kenny is my bro !

  • Thanks y'all, this is the only game community I ever actually been a part of and y'all are awesome

  • Yeah, when I finished it I cried as well. Hadn't cried for like a year before I finished it. I like crying, it never happens to me. I didn't even cry at my grandmother's funeral, and at the end of my high school football career, and I end up crying for this. Like wtf is wrong with me?

  • Sorry you had to go through that, we all were in your shoes at one point. It's now up to you to guide Clementine down a path that Lee would have wanted.

    Lee. Lives. On. ;(

I was so emotionally wrecked at the end of season 1, I had to take a nap. Sure I cried but certain books and movies have made me cry, nothing has ever made me have to shut down afterwards.

  • Season 1 can get dull at times on replays but its really engaging and makes you stop for a moment. Most of the other games do this as well however season 2 is much more fast paced and new frontier never stops

  • I cried too, man. It was just... God, it got to me.

Season 2, for all its faults, managed to hit me even harder than Season 1 did with its ending, though your mileage may vary with that.

  • I remember crying the shit out of my eyes when I got to the ending... Aah good times

  • I teared up when Lee's smiling at Clem for the last time. :'(

  • I can't stop crying now, and I completed it 5 years ago.

  • So... whatcha think of Season 1 as a whole?

  • You think that's bad?

Wait 'till you get to Season 2's "harrowing" finale and see how "distinct" they made Clementine in A New Frontier.

  • nothing has ever made me have to shut down afterwards.

I'd recommend Dancer in the Dark for much of the same "poetically tragic fate" type of thing Season 1 had.

    Just bring them Kleenexes.

  • You're not alone pal, I fought with myself not to burst out in tears at the end of S1 and S2 (with a specific person).
I recommend to import your save file into S2 and go for it. You'll enjoy. :)

Ordinarily, after replaying a game/rewatching a movie/whatever a few times, the emotional moments stop hitting me as hard as they used to. However, for The Walking Dead (both seasons) they hit me just as hard every time. I've replayed the game at least 5 times, and every time Lee says "I'll miss you" manly tears are shed.

  • I've never played any other telltale games not even demos lol

  • It's really amazing how everyone else reacts to the ending. The game has such an effective atmospheric quality to it that makes you feel isolated and involved. Honestly, if the game ended there, it would be hailed as a masterpiece. No offence to season 2, but it definitely dampened the quality and passion that was prevalent in the first season. It just feels commoditized like most things nowadays, which is okay, but it could have been something special if just left there, but of course they weren't going to.

And yeah, I get that that's an unpopular opinion.

  • Then you have something to look forward to!

I've never played any other telltale games not even demos lol

  • Season 1 is one of my favourite games and I usually get teary eyed whenever I play it <3

  • You can't just let the thread be about praising the season 1 ending? You just had to squeeze in some A New Frontier hate?

  • There's always room for a little ANF hate here and there lel

  • I don't want to be a buzz kill, but liking A New Frontier and being an active forum member is getting a little frustrating. It's becoming difficult to enjoy the forums now because no matter where I go I find hate for it. Threads that I used to love like the details thread somehow have ANF hate sneaked into it, then there's this thread. Heck, someone was even hating on it in a The Wolf Among Us thread the other day. I love these forums and don't want them to be ruined for me, so I would really appreciate it if people could actually keep comments hating on ANF in actual ANF threads.

  • Any advice on replaying it ? Does it get stale or what

  • edited January 2017

No, no it does not. I remember the first time I saw the ending (back in 2012), I didn't have the game at the time so I settled for a walkthrough, and I cried like a bitch. 4 years later and I still cry whenever I see the ending. It never really ends IMO; if you replay the whole thing, you'll cry even more than if you were to only watch the ending scene. Either way, it doesn't get stale in my experience, thus far. My advice for you would be a lot of tissues and a pillow to cry into.

  • When I first beat the game I didn't cry or anything, but I did feel kind of depressed that it was over. It was definitely the most fun I've ever had playing a video game though. Anf has let me down in a lot of ways, but maybe telltale will salvage what's left of s3.
