What if Jane didn't do it
I know that this sounds like I'm trying to salvage Jane's flashback, but there are indeed reasons to believe that Jane didn't commit suicide. I believe that's possible that she got murdered. We didn't see her actually doing this and you would at least expect some kind of a note to be left for Clem. Jane had more than enough time for this, but all there was her hanging and pregnancy test.
You probably ask yourself, why would anyone hang Jane and not just kill her? Well, what if murderer didn't want Clem to know that Jane was murdered. Maybe Jane was forced to do it in order to keep Clem and AJ safe.
In flashback they're sitting outside, even though there is no particular reason to sit so far away from the building. What if Jane knew that someone was coming and that's why they were sitting there and then she asks Clem to sweep perimetere again even though she did it just a few days ago. Maybe her intent was to talk to someone inside Howes?
As of, who would have done that, I have multiply theories:
"Asshole family" could of come back again and they maybe they had some differences with Jane, so they wanted her death. So, the deal was for her to hang herself or they would go after Clem and AJ as well or something like that.
Jane talks about "Ghosts" to Clementine. What if Jane thought that she heard some sort of ghosts? Remember how in comic people thought that they're going insane and heard walkers talking? It could be that Whisperer/-s or someone who used that technique was there and murdered her, but still had a heart not to touch Clem & AJ, so he made it look like she hung herself.
What if that was not Luke's baby? It's also possible that someone came there and sexually abused Jane for some sort of a protection or promise not to touch Clem and AJ. Afterwards, that abuser found out that Jane was pregnant and saw no other choice, but to kill her.
So, what do you guys think? Could it be that writers intention was to mislead us and somehow reveal later on that she was actually murdered and didn't just commit suicide? That would explain "WHY?!" and would actually make some sense.

The fact of the matter is she did commit suicide, no other reasoning behind it provided to the players otherwise would say anything differently.
She was a selfish abhorrent "care taker" that was best left with a knife shoved firmly into her chest.
Umm... as much as I'd have liked for her to not commit suicide, I still happen to think that's how it went down, unfortunately. I don't think Clem would've been out doing a perimeter sweep for long, and with the way that Jane was basically crying as she was walking back to Howe's, I'm pretty sure she was planning it out beforehand.
The odds of Randy breaking in and hanging Jane in the office without anyone noticing, managing to plan it in such a way that everything looked like a suicide would be kinda low. Unless, y'know, his secret alter-ego was Jack the Ripper the entire time xD
Honestly, the whole thing could've been drawn out better so that we could understand why she killed herself and not have it feel like such a slap in the face, but yeah. That's how I think it happened.
No, I'm pretty sure she killed herself. As for why there was no note? I think Jane's decision to kill herself in the moment. Suicidal thoughts are always worse when you're on your own.
Flashbacks were so bad that is pointless to discuss their logic.
Beside the 'Alone' segment, they all pretty much exist to establish how Clementine's guardians died solely to push Clementine into the role and ideals she has now, and nothing more.
I hate when characters are wiped out like that. I don't even like Jane, yet I'm still angry how she died.
Yeah, no.

People talking about how Lee could still be alive was one thing
but this
ohohoh man, this is just something else
Why else would Telltale show the pregnancy test on the floor? She committed suicide.
Interesting theories. I'm willing to go with it...possibly. It still hurts, Jane being gone. This "murder" concept feels more plausible, as I believe she was above suicide. Or I could just be trying to continue to hold her character in moderate regard.
Helps some of the pain, but not all of it.
But...
Jane...
Although, I'm leaning towards Theory #2.
I find it's easier to look back on her season 2 counterpart than the other one. Hurts a lot less, too
If Jane didn't commit suicide then she would die in another ridiculous way.
From the bottom of my heart.
In before Kenny and Jane arnt dead, the flashbacks are semi flashbacks because Clem falls asleep when she has them, meaning that Kenny really only broke a leg and was left behind but he was able to crawl away into a ditch, Jane was in Carver's office about to kill herself, the family came back, somehow Jane slam dunks Patricia into the noose because she suddenly decides she doesnt want to die, then Randy takes her away as a hostage, meaning Clem really only found Patricia and not Jane but just assumes Jane is dead, followed by every flashback now being about Kenny and Jane, with Kenny who got his hand bit and will now have to cut his hand off with a really dull and rusty pocket knife and Jane will give birth.
You heard it here first.
Can you imagine if they tried to convince people that Clem just had major PTSD and made both of their deaths up?
I'd take that bet.
Sorry, you can't fix bad writing once it's been published :x
Hey, don't worry. I believe the flashbacks were just forced in there, I honestly don't believe in them and chose to personally think of my own versions. The only flashback I thought was acceptable is the Wellington flashback. Sure it was abrupt, but we all saw that coming - either corruption or destruction. I don't accept the Kenny car crash and Jane suicide as true flashbacks, just so I can start to get over it, and focus on enjoying this new season.
…or so we thought.
We haven't one bit of evidence that proves otherwise, so...
I'd honestly rather believe my favorite character went out like a coward and betrayed her entire character arc than believe she was murdered by some random asshole even though it makes zero sense. That'd be more badly written than Season 2.
You can, it's called the edit button/removing the old work and replacing it with a better one. The only issue is that there's always at least one asshole who saw the cringe worthy version of your now acceptable writing and taunts you with it constantly... fucking steve...
DUN DUN DUN!
…or so we thought.
If you have evidence, I'm all eyes.
Huh?
STOP READING MY MIND!!
Why would he do that?
The juxtaposition of Sarah and a Care Bear jumping in front of a fucking truck concerns me.
More like - shitty writing.
Prink was establishing a parallel between a bad forum post and A New Frontier.
...or so we thought.
As it turns out, the big secret is that YOU DON'T HAVE ANY EYES

"Because that doesn't make a lick of god damn sense."

If I had no eyes, I wouldn't be typing this right now.
