Why Negativity Will Ruin Your Experience

    Unacceptable Telltale.

  • Is staff also able to read removed threads? I made one on what fans consider the most abundant problems this season, but it was flagged after someone complained that most of them were made up (a very "shoot the messenger" situation, I guess).

  • Ok. The episodes are too short. There's barely any playable clem. Clem's personality certainly does not seem to be that of the clem I built. It does not reflect the influence of lee's choices or the personality I made for her in 2.

  • Honestly, with episodic releases negativity will definitely increase anxiety about where the game is going, constructive criticism is great for identifying issues but last week got really toxic. That said it's never actually influenced or caused me to rethink my stance, my mind was made up about the episodes as I completed them. There's a good deal of people upset with various things, but overall this forum has had plenty of people who can put together posts that express their discontent in a very civil fashion. It's been bad here, but I was on the forums during the ME3 ending uproar. I've seen fan bases hit apocalypse levels and beyond before, save for a certain few this place has been pretty good despite the feelings people have.

  • People with depression score highest on tests of realism. People with high i.q.'s have a higher rate of suicide than the general pop. Reality is dark.

Staying negative makes the world darker, hateful and you will be impatient. Stay positive and you will find yourself happier and more patient. Wisdom gained through experience.

  • Seriously, it generally had the 95% great 5% absolutely, positively WTF did you just do? vibe. Each game is at least a 20 hour ride unless your speed rushing, I think the longest I got out of them on my completionist playthrough is close to 40 hours. Then the endings happen. Up on the Citadel. The catalyst is that kid from the beginning? Every choice kills me? Why the hell does Liaras face flash instead of my LI? Did my squad survive the end run, and why don't I seem to care if they did? Wait, the relays are gone? Ship looks pretty bad... Is my crew stranded on a planet with no supplies, ways off or relays to get home? ITS OVER? WATWATWATWAT

The EC, thankfully, added a good 10 or so minutes of content to answer some of the more pressing answers and provide closure on exactly what we accomplished and what was lost. Didn't fix everything that went wrong, but it was infinitely better than what we originally got. I'm hoping these next 3 episodes will be TWDs EC lol

You mean the Die with a red light versus Green or Blue...but DIE!!! Yeah and the fact people were on the ground and then they were on the Normandy...then the destruction of the relays should have killed everyone in the galaxy...stupid ending.

  • The games just seem to be getting worse and having less and less effort into them. Episodes are so short, choice doesnt matter whatsoever anymore and honestly the series is getting boring with the entire group being killed off every season.

  • Negativity won't help this game. And it most certainly won't help your enjoyment of the game. So look at the plus sides of things.

I tried to look at the plus sides but the bad sides is winning rights now and because of this It's relly hard for me to enjoy this "game"

  • I actually like the game quite a bit, but the fact that we still have no idea where its going, has me worried, because while I know some people are not gonna agree, I also know that quite alot of people agree with me, when I say that it would be a shame to fade out Clementines story like they might be doing in A New Frontier (or might not, who knows?). I also think there is still huge room for a good game playing as Clementine, season 2 was sort of going down the road of "will Clem become more like Lee or Carver?" because she definitely have traits of both Lee and Carver, while she is a good person at heart, I think the world can change people, and Clem is a natural survivor, but surviving doesnt always mean being a good person.

I want a game that explores that some more, will you be a good person and risk your own and AJ's health or even life? or will you do bad things? how bad? will you steal? kill? Depending on what we did in season 1, Lee taught Clem to not steal or kill, but at the same time, we see in season 2 that she cant always abide to those moral codes, because thats not how the world works anymore

    Hey, mostlypoptarts.

It's nice of you to pop by here. Not sure if I would, but yeah, it's nice.

While you're here, with there being a chance of you reading this, there is something I do think Telltale needs to work on beyond the subjective. It's something that's leaving me in two minds as to whether I should buy the Marvel game later.

Basically, I bought Batman for the PS4. I had to keep a save file just prior to the previous episode's end in preparation for the next episode launching, in order to get choices to import correctly. It was quite irritating really, especially given the lack of a rewind function now. I'd have to exit the game at a point where I think it's close to the end, copy it to another save slot and then carry on replaying bits I'd just played.

Now, I own every game from Telltale besides Jurassic Park and the CSI/Law & Order ones. This includes me owning the earlier titles such as Strong Bad. So, I really do like your products. Due to this, I rebought TWD S1 on PS4 in preparation for TWD S3, so I could get my save files ready in case choices weren't covered by the story generator, and partly because I prefer playing them on console with the big tele rather than on my laptop. Anyway, I spent the majority of 2 - 3 days playing S1 and S2 again on the PS4. When S3 launched, I imported my save and found that I received the wrong flashback, meaning that my choices had yet again failed to import correctly. I was left wondering why I'd bothered to rebuy TWD S1 with cash being short.

Point being is this: I really do like TTG's products. But as your products are heavily story based, I think it's a poor showing if you cannot get the choices to import correctly. I know the entire story doesn't alter, but it still matters to give it that personalisation and it can take you out of the experience when the product assumes you did something else. For a story-based product, it's essential that you're not taken out of the experience, and this is putting aside the actual technical side of things. If I've bought the vast majority of your titles and I'm wondering if I should continue purchasing other titles, I think it is something that really needs to be sorted out.

To be clear, I rarely, if ever, complain. I normally don't bother, and instead say nothing if there is something I've found to my dislike (which is rare). I only say this, because I like your stuff. I also constantly tell people not to call TTG's staff lazy as it is, quite frankly, disrespectful and they have no knowledge of what's going on behind the scenes. I don't either, obviously, but I do write and I have recently been dabbling in game development/interactive stories, so I do have an inkling of what 'might' be going on and I have too much respect for the work of others to continually be negative and insult creators. As disrespectful as this now sounds though and it is, nor is it the same as going through the story myself, I'm left wondering if I should not buy future titles and just watch them on Youtube or something. So, I guess I'm agreeing with something I rather dislike, which is 'just go watch them on Youtube', but not for the reasons people usually state and despite knowing that TTGs deserves to get paid for the work if I'm enjoying their product (speaking as someone who had their very first story pirated here and sales pretty much non-existent). Essentially, if my choices can't carry over correctly (despite still being put on the spot with regard to being forced to make choices), I see little point in continuing to purchase future titles. I think the choice aspect is core and it is something that needs to carry over correctly between episodes.

Sorry for the long post as well, and I've probably repeated myself multiple times. It's rare I make long posts these days as well, or even post at all as I find myself deleting them more often than not. Too much negativity and I'm sorry to be adding more. I hope there's not many typos here either.

That's one of the nicest things I've read on here!

I'm so angry because I'm disappointed of Telltale.

Telltale can actually make better games. But season 3 looks currently very lazy in story and game length. But the price is twice (compared to previous seasons.) This is not acceptable! It's looks like lazy money making...

  • Maybe that exact same comment isn't productive, but replace the "bc reasons" with an actual reason and you have constructive criticism.

We definitely read and report up. Constructive criticism is the best to read; I live for that stuff. Things like "i didn't like this episode bc reasons" aren't productive.

  • I liked A New Frontier's premiere but I found plenty of shit wrong with it.

Example: In my canon playthrough of Season 2, I went with Kenny, so when his model came on the screen my smile slowly faded and I paused the game. I just sat there and rubbed my head for about two minutes because of how horrid it looked.

  • The issues by far outweigh what little the episodes have done well, not great mind you, just well.

Thus far, we have two very short episodes, which is fine in-and-of itself if the pacing was done with any kind of natural flow or progression. It feels so loosely jointed, I can say I still don't remember a whole lot.

Egregious writing mixed with sub-par voice acting makes the characters so bland and indistinguishable, I'm still not sure all of their names or what they serve in the plot other then razor-thin characterization.

Clementine being transformed into a background piece with no agency on the story (at this point, after NGB and this, I'm certain she'll never have anything interesting to add to the story again). And the flashbacks treating the choice at the end of season 2 with as little care and compassion as possible.

The game assaulting the audience with action set-pieces with almost every scene, making the game's pacing not only forgettable, but also flagrantly blasé and numbing.

Plus that's not even addressing the myriad of smaller things this season has already fumbled like my care for Gabe, the worlds most annoying shitty teen and all the half-baked romantic subplots.

  • WHY DIDN'T HE JUST GO AROOOOUND!?

  • I am so pessimistic when it comes to new games now that I don't end up being upset. However that still doesn't help at all when it comes with this game series.

It's just that... there's nothing new and refreshing about it, "family matters" trope comes for the 4th time in this series (even how this one just throws them at you and you are expected to care about them), same gameplay; no new ideas when it comes to choices (Like make one protagonist die because of a few choices and force us to continue the story with the 2nd one or something; use it to your advantage), and no continuing/surviving cast from the previous seasons (how people hoped that Luke and Nick would survive 'till S3, or Lilly or Christa or Molly!) and it just driven the audience to not care about the current cast at all because of the previous treatment of the last group... it's just sad.

  • The bad experience lead to my negative attitude. I can't really think of anything positive about this game that I would be proud to post, sadly. Anything nice that would come to mind would be followed by a huge stinky BUT. Maybe things will change.

  • This is What I Do, but there are people who look only on the negative points of the game and they don't enjoy the game for what it is. :/
