The Walking Dead - A New Frontier xbox 360

Is it really true that The Walking Dead - A New Frontier will not be released for Xbox 360 for download :( :O

  • Yes unfortunately it's true, they just dropped it entirely.

  • It was initially planned for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but cancelled shortly before launch. I assume that the engine update for newer titles starting with Batman and New Frontier did not allow for the game to run as well on older consoles without requiring extensive modifications.

  • Yeah I was very angry and disappointed Telltale dropped TWD Season 3 from last gen after originally promising us the game, I've played everything from season 1 to Michonne's story, invested in these characters and after following Clementine's story I now never get to play out the next part! Well thanks a bunch Telltale, you were one company I thought would support last gen but now you've shafted us too! I sincerely doubt I'll be spending anymore money on your products

  • I just found out (I have a PS3), and am furious.

I can afford a $25 game every six months or so.

I can't afford another system, and then not be able to play them all on the same system (TVs only have so many HDMI ports) makes it even more aggravating even if I could get another system.

This is total garbage. I am beyond livid right now. I was looking forward to this so much. I ended up loving the game more than the comic, and it was because of this game that I got into their other titles throughout the years.

I hope they read these threads and reconsider.

  • The console is old already. New stuff can't support older hardware. They tried it with Batman and as I heard, It was a disaster...

  • just another disappointment. wonder many more they've got in store for us.

  • Not really a disappointment. Quite the contrary actually. I mean, they supported last gen with batman and it ran horrible on current gen consoles. They ditched last gen for A New Frontier and it ran pretty good on current gen consoles.

    See the connection?

It just requires the time they don't want to spare.

  • Well, they did promise last gen season three then just went back on their word and dropped it at the last minute leaving us unable to carry on a journey we'd been travelling on since season one, I bought Batman and it seemed ok on my PS3, admittedly episode 5 was a bit laggy with quite a few automatic saves during fight scenes but it played perfectly fine otherwise, I loved TWD season 1 and 2 and 400 days and Michonne's game now I never get to play a game I've invested financially and personally in since episode 1of season 1, I've lost any respect I had for Telltale

  • Yep, hardware limitations.

  • You can't really blame Telltale. It had reached the point where it just wasn't worth it anymore.

  • Exactly. And the extra men-power, that would've been wasted for the Last Gen versions, got used, to make the game overall smoother.

If they now ditched the mobile versions, it would help too, but I think the player base on these plattforms is still big enough, where the effort on porting the game to these plattforms is worth the extra money.

  • So you want them to spend time to manage to bring the game to the old console that will probably run it at 15 FPS max?

  • And I don't blame them. They're a company and they have to think money first. It probably wasn't worth the development time or money needed to release on 360 or PS3 to likely receive minimal sales. Sure it's shitty you cant play the game, but you can't seriously blame Telltale.

  • Believe it or not, they probably won't ditch the mobile ports, since current models are faster than the last-gen consoles if you compare the specs.

  • it's a disappointment for those who bought and played the first two seasons on the xbox 360. many simply cannot afford the current gaming systems. the walking dead never was a big game with stunning graphics, so i can't understand why they couldn't run it for the 360. it was most popular on the 360, and now that they've ditched it, sales have gone down, so let's not pretend that it was a wise marketing decision.

  • Well said.

  • It WAS a good Move. The majority of players from the last gen moved on to current gen. The current player base on Last gen is simply to small to be considered in ANY way. Hell, it's probably so small, that every Telltale Fan on Last gen knows each other by Name. Like WiiU or PlayStation Vita owners.

  • You do realize, that it's not a secret, Right? The Ps4 and Xbox One are Selling better in it's 4th year, than The ps3/xbox 360 did in it's 4th year. Console sales are going up and there was a statement from Sony, where they announced, that the ps4 crossed 50 million sold consoles.

Last gen is dead. There is a reason, why no one is producing games for these systems anymore. The Gaming industry is always in motion and if you can't keep up, which is ok, since not everybody can afford a new console, you can't expect a developer to look out for you.

Last gen got left behind and it's good, that Telltale freed themselves from it's shackles to produce higher quality content. At least from a techicle standpoint.

  • No, no, no.
    You said,

I assumed you were talking about The Walking Dead players, but supposedly you now mean general players/buyers of the consoles? If you mean the latter, then fine, there's no debate, but the former is arguable.

  • I would understand if this was 2013, but it's now more than three years after the introduction of the current gen consoles. Sony also didn't really support the PS2 anymore in 2009-2010, Microsoft stopped supporting the original XBox even sooner.

  • We don't have specific numbers, so it's a possibility, but the mobile gaming market is insanely huge. That's, of course, thanks to games like clash of clans or other games like this, but I actually think, that the Telltale Games do have a fairly big userbase on mobile. But again, we don't have the numbers to check this.
