Would you vote?
If Telltale came out and said they wanted the gamers to vote for the next protagonist of season 3 who would you had voted for between Javier and Clementine? Or would you vote neutral? Also would you be up for such a notion for season 4?
At least this type of choice could matter greatest for the walking dead games if the developers took the ballots seriously to heart.

I don't think now is the best time for this since we're only one double length in so far. But going off what we have so far, I don't care.
For Season 4; I'd vote for Clementine.
If Javier and Clementine both make it out of this season, (I'd guess alone/with AJ), they would be in a similar spot of loss. Considering Javier will NOT be a father figure in her life, I believe Javier will be a Brother figure for her. So, if they both make it out, I'd really like to play Season 4 as Clementine and get to play alongside Javier.
I want Javier to become a main protagonist, and Telltale needs to learn from the mistake of Season 1/2, they can't kill off every character, every season unless they want to do the exact same thing EVERY single Season.
I can understand feeling neutral. Also when I look at your avatar it makes me wish Michelle had been developed from bully to short term friend. Kind of like that character only existed to take out Omid for a cheap shock. season 2 had a load of wasted potential.
Yeah, I know feeling. Actually, I was kinda hoping she'd have been more of a personal recurring antagonist for Clementine but you're not the only one I've seen give the convenient friend idea.
I'm interested to see if Javier makes it out of the finale or not. But I think at this rate it looks like Telltale wants to keep on changing the playable character every season and for the related side games like 400 Days and Michonne (although playing as Michonne was a given).
Absolutely no on a S4 for the sake of the walking dead series and I would have voted for clementine as the playable character.
Recurring antogonist? Well I don't know about that one but not knocking your preference. I mean If she hadn't killed Omid I could of seen Omid disarming her then offering her a place in their group since she was a kid and didn't really come off as pure evil just maybe misguided and lost with being on her own. She showed some remorse for her actions after killing Omid right before Christa charged in and ended her life.
Instead of continuing to fire at Christa she apologized dropped the gun and surrendered making her vulnerable to attacks. To which she wasn't forgiven obviously, but I think a recurring antagonist might of not had the heart to feel regret for what they had done. Thus they'd keep coming back to bother the protagonist again and again, like Badger or Carver, even the Governor was a good example of a recurring antagonist because these people kill and don't show guilt for their wrongdoings.
IF Michelle was introduced in a different way and maybe acting akin to Troy, then I could see a recurring villain with her.
Javier
Yeah I agree the games are sinking a bit, but hopefully they can make some miracle comeback to green light a 4th season. I was hoping they'd make it to at least season 5 but who knows. They might not stop anyway just because of the money this franchise rakes in for them.
Clementine. Whether I'd want to see a new season really depends on the next three episodes, though.
I'm remaining optimistic that they will make a comeback with the next three.. hopefully since it isn't really a load of time to work with unless they make each episode 2 hours minimum long.
How'd you mean? Like, they'd suddenly ditch Javier and make us play as Clementine from episode 3 onwards?
Clementine.
I said this since the conclusion of Season 1.
The protagonist of Season 2 either had to be a brand new protagonist or had to be Clementine herself. But if it was Clementine, then she needed to stay protagonist. Because switching her after that in any future additions to the series would introduce a whole host of problems as it clearly has.
I vote for Lee. I want an alternate timeline where he cuts the arm early enough and lives on. I can dream, can't I?
For Season 3 Clementine would be best, most of us make every choice in her favor anyway.
But they've already started season 3 with Javier. They have to stick with it now, otherwise they'll look like pushovers and the transition from Javier to Clementine just wouldn't work.
Honestly, I would be fine with both. I was hoping they'd do it more like Borderlands here, where you play as both characters for a decent amount of time, and take control of both whenever they split up to go do something. Instead we're just playing as Javier 90% of the time.
If it becomes more like that in future episodes of season 3, I wouldn't hate it. If Javier and Clementine both survive this season, then I really hope that's what they do for season 4.
Well, yeah... But that wasn't what was asked. This was a hypothetical question that asked if there was a poll pre-Season 3, how would you vote.
Doesn't exactly clarify that it's pre-season, does it? You could interpret the question either way.
And of course, sure, 99% would pick Clementine. We don't even know Javier at that point.
Yes indeed it would of made much more sense to not switch up again for season 3. Season 3 is mostly a spin off that just so happens to conveniently feature Clementine..so far but at least. Perhaps Clementine will get more playability in the upcoming episodes and perhaps episodes one and two were intended to introduce Javier and his family matters. This would make New Frontier feel more like a legit season 3 when you bring the main character of the games back into focus front and center.
I also always thought " A New Frontier" was going to be some sort of unexplored territory and not an actual group called that. I'm hoping their leader David will explain clearly why he or they had came up with that name for their clan.
Nah just hypothetically speaking if this was a option during the times between season 2 and New Frontier. And if you think a voting system like that would be of interest to you with the future seasons.
Well, maybe more of a "rival" than an outright villain. You pointed out much of the sympathetic aspects of her character and that is why she'd be recurring: someone who is just doing what she can to get by on her own but doesn't have the heart to actually hurt people. With Omid's blood on her hands, accidental or not, her encounters with Clementine afterwards would be a bit tense given they were both somewhat traumatized by the event and likely feel uncomfortable around each other.
What I had in mind was more that she'd encounter her again potentially up to her old ways, possibly attempting to pickpocket the Cabin Group and it would be more of Clementine scaring her off with a personal disdain for her despite her forgiving nature; meanwhile, Michelle would be dealing with the source of that disasterous day at a bigger size, so she'd be facing her past mistakes and regrets again. However, what I ended up doing in my rewrites more or less inserted her into In Harm's Way to not only give Clementine some closure on the matter, but also did quite a bit of arc-welding and contextualization for numerous characters and plot points.
Also, on a side note, while killing her definitely didn't seem like his style, I would think Omid would simply intimidate her into leaving once he disarmed her with a mean look and/or a warning. I'm sure he'd also try to reason with her and maybe even make her feel somewhat welcome under certain conditions, but he had a kid on the way to take into consideration.
Well I really like Javier so I don't know. I'd love to play as both.
Thanks for clarifying.
I'd vote Clementine, but if I knew how Javier would turn out, then I'd definitely have a hard time voting. At the moment I'm really liking his story.
