I would like to see Clementine emotionally break down.

One scene that I would like to see in A New Frontier is where Clementine would emotionally break down. She has suffered so much during her 4-5 years surviving in the apocalypse, and she has repressed her emotions most of the time, but now might be the point where she cracks. Her personality is very similar to Jane now, but I would love to see that vulnerable, frightened little girl that we knew and loved from S1 and 2 reemerge from within her, and she confesses the darkest moments of her past to Javier, or anyone else that she is close to in S3.

  • Ahhhh my heart wouldn't be able to cope with that :'(

I want this to happen though...

  • If clem looses aj this season your wish will become true :/

Her breakdown wouldn't make sense? So all of the mayhem she went through in Season 1 & 2 isn't worth getting emotional? I would like to see you go through all of that without shedding a tear then.

Plus, there is a thing called events gradually adding up together to the point where you can no longer handle keeping it in and collapse

  • I'd like to, but I don't see it happening until she develops a strong emotional attachment to someone and feels comfortable around them.

  • Remember how some people thought she might get almost raped last season, because of that disturbing EP4 banner?

I want this game to be gory, it's a M-rated game, they can get away with so much and they are not using it to their advantage.

  • I agree the time skips are annoying, but I don't think it's too surprising she turned out the way she did. Christa didn't seem to be the most emotionally available person after the first one, considering they've apparently been alone since Omid died and she lost the baby somehow. Wouldn't imagine traveling with someone like that would have the best effect on an impressionable child. Same with the the S2 flashbacks. She either immediately starts with the loner mindset or ends up losing the only people she's got left to rely on taking over the role they had for her to help AJ.

A real jerk would have made Javier watch them eat his nieces candy bar before leaving him cuffed and unarmed on the side of the road to fend for himself. She doesn't leave until finding out they're heading straight into the wolfs den. The flashbacks were overall way too short and leave too many questions about her time alone, which really sucks considering it seems they recorded scenes that sounded like they would explain more of the trauma she experienced during her time alone, especially considering its not like the first two episodes were overly long to begin with.

  • I would be in the same boat.

  • Oh God yess.

I once read something about people being like geodes, because if you want to see what's inside you muts break them. Characters work the same. I feel like I don't truly know a character until I ser them cry. Even Negan, Alpha and the Governor get to cry! Man, I want to see my baby cry. Maybe she can release some of her pain like that.

  • I wish see her strong, because good people die in the apocalypse. Like Carver say : " ...This part of surviving... ".
You need watch "Santa Barbara" if you wanna cry.

  • I want this to happen too because I love it when games make me a complete emotional wreck that makes me completely numb and unable to function for days.

    Please telltale, fuck me up.

  • You know...I love that too, hey...you don't suppose that is why the Walking dead is so popular....because secretly we all love having our hearts wrecked?

  • If you want to see a 13 year old girl break down emotionally, there;s something wrong with you...

  • I doubt she will. If seeing the deaths of her parents, her father figure, and over 15 of her closest friends, I seriously doubt anything will.

  • Isn't she just a character with obsessive fans, though?

  • I don't think it's so much the breakdown that people really want to see as much as people just want to see her grieve for everything that's happened - and more importantly, for someone else to actually be there to help get her through it since everyone around her keeps dying and keeping her tied down.

We get blind-sided in regards to her reactions to the deaths of Lee, Omid and determinately Kenny/Jane and only get glimpses of this throughout the series: the dinner scene with Luke and certain scenes with Kenny come to mind. And even then I don't think these scenes show any moving on from grief.

It probably doesn't help that, at least subconsciously, some people still aren't over Lee's death. Call me judgemental but I think some people are projecting that and are looking for some sort of resolution/acceptance from Clementine so that they can move on from it as well.

Plus a lot of this want for a 'breakdown' is ultimately just another way of the fandom wanting Clementine to express a more human side which has been choked out since the end of the first season. Something that I hope can achieve some development this season with her being an NPC.

  • the only thing which worries me about is: I will probably cry like I did when Lee died and it's more likely to happen with the cost of AJ, which I don't want.

  • Awww, my heart couldn't stand little grown up sweetpea crying ;-; But I would like to be the one who comforts her and gives her the strength to go on and keep on believing that there can still be good things in the world. :)

If you ever saw the first Spider-Man movie with the Green Goblin...when he was talking to spidey...he tells him the one thing people love to see more than a hero.is a hero fall...it is when a hero like Rick or Clementine are absolutely laid bare that we see their human side, it is a way for the audience to affirm their connection on a emotional level with a character. So I do think there will be a scene like that...if not this season then next one. Self doubt and despair are as old as the garden of gethsemane.

Oh God yess. I once read something about people being like geodes, because if you want to see what's inside you muts break them. Characte

  • It's an addiction.

  • It's inevitable at this point. Clem has lost EVERYTHING. More than a lot of others, and she's not even aneed adult yet. She's keeping it all inside, and it will come out eventually. All the sadness and anger. Just wait.

Maybe what Jon was hinting at was Clem emotionally breaking down. They'll probs save that for Ep5 tho

She won't if she hasn't by now and she likely has broken down and you've either overseen it or it's happened off screen. I'd believe between her parents Lee and Omid dying one of those would have been the ideal catalysts for her falling out from being overwhelmed with grief and guilt. The stoic demeanor she has displayed throughout the second season appears to have been a result of previous breakdowns. Third season she somewhat seems less stoic and more aggressive and vicious to enemies and allies alike.

    No...WHEN DA FUCK WAS THIS?!

  • I've been thinkin about his and was originally up to agree, but thinking about it while looking at what's been said so far, it'd be kinda odd at this point. The main reason she even cried in No Going Back was because the only two people she had left at that point were trying to kill each other and shooting Kenny in particular was bad because there was no getting around the fact that she killed him.
Beyond maybe thinking she's lost AJ, I doubt you'd get such a reaction at this point with any of the new characters given she reacts to Javier, a guy she barely knows for a week mind you, agreeing to turn her into her former allies with a "screw you" and a middle finger to the second nicest member we've seen so far.

  • But Clem knew Edith for 2 to 3 years not 2 weeks as AJ was a newborn and clem was 11 when they met Edith and AJ was 3 when she died.

  • Yes she should, it not only give us a reason to shed a tear, but it shows that Clementine is only a kid and is still an human, it adds character and would make TWD a new frontier better.

  • Ahh, memories,

  • Yeah, it was back at the start of Season 2 just after the release of Episode 1 when we thought, after Omid's death, Clementine's arm stitching, the introduction of the theme of 'trust' and the intrigue of this 'Carver' character, that the Season was going to be dark as hell.

Seeing those E4/E5 banners coupled with their original music scores gave the community the idea that there was going to be an exploration of cults, rape and just the general destruction of what's left of a child's innocence. You know. The usual.
