I don't think there needs to be an actual pedophile character, but the acknowledgement of that threat would add to the realism of The Walking Dead some. It's like at the beginning of S1Ep3 when Kenny says something along the lines of "Ben is on watch? Might as well leave a sign up that says "Come rape our women and children." Of course this never happened, but the fact someone was worried about that possibility did add to the severity of their situation.
Having sexual relations with someone underage is rape, just maybe not in the sense that you're referring to. There doesn't have to be force involved, if they're too young to give consent, it's rape. That means if an adult were to have sexual activity with children, it's rape, and they're a pedophile.
This is a reminded that pedophilia is the desire to engage in sexual activity with children, not the action itself of raping children. There's a distinction to be made.
Having The Stranger be a pedophile would be out of place. He wants revenge for the death of his child, who he supposedly never had any sexual relations with. If that were the case, then why would he be a pedophile? He wanted to take her as his daughter because he had lost his own.
Sexual tension is one thing considered "too dark of a topic" to show around in mass media, cinematography or other creations, but it would b… moree very big of a deal in post-apocalyptic world, similar to any lawless period in history (stormed cities, taken camps, plunder, outlawry, etc.) Introducing a pedophile is realistic in terms of plot, but then again, it would face an enormous amount of hate.
Personally, I would love TT to focus more on the consequences of lawlessness and chaos. All we see is shooting and blowing up places, like nothing else could be happening in a world full of zombies.
Agreed. It doesn't make sense in the context of his motivation and its just pointless vilifying of a character that's clearly meant to be a broken reflection of the main character's choices.

Troy was clearly just an asshole and not a pedophile. I mean, he wanted to have sex with Jane and never showed anything even resembling to interest (let alone sexual interests) towards Clem and Sarah.

Yeah, pretty much. Except its almost certain that he did have sex with Jane given what she says to him alongside what was originally planned in regard to him.
Meanwhile, his treatment of Clementine and Sarah was always one of condescension.

This is a reminde(r) that pedophilia is the desire to engage in sexual activity with children
No one denies that anyone who actually has sex with children is a rapist. There are a lot more pedophiles who have never touched a kid inappropriately before than there are actual child rapists.

Not even when he said "Everything come out alright, girls?"
Ah, I suppose I read and interpreted that incorrectly then. I thought the point being made was force versus consent, and I'm happy to see now that it most definitely wasn't.

Rapists (?) maybe even a rape scene, the game's rated M after all.
(This will probably never happen since this would be controversial. Well there was the Save Lot Bandits but you only hear about it)
Homophobic or Racist characters
(A character similar to Merle Dixon)
A guy or girl with pyschopathic tendacies
(A character similar to Nate from 400 Days)
I would be fine with a pedophile as long as it fits the story, because I would prefer the game going in a dark direction. The charactersitics I listed are realistic characteristics from people who would live in an apocalypse. But I think the writers would be scared from the backlash they might receive. Especially since everything is becoming a whole lot more politically correct.
That would be copying The Last of Us in my opinion. A big portion of that game was about a young girl up against a pedo, and we cared about that young girl alot. So if Telltale does it they'd kind of have to do with Clementine too.
For realistic purposes
Unfortunately pedophiles do exist. The game tackles other controversial circumstances, and I think paedophilia wou… moreld be a huge problem in a post-apocalyptic, lawless World.
Not every group a young girl came by would have Luke's, Lee's and Kenny's who want to protect you at all costs. There would be bad, sexually deprived people who knew they could get away with it.
I'd never want anything to ever actually happen to Clementine though

Don't feed the freaks! Make night time safe again!
No, but for real though: Clementine(8)x 4 = 32, Clementine(11) x 4 = 44, and
Clementine(13) x 4 = 52.
Who?
I do feel it's long overdue.
They hinted that the Stranger might have been one, but he turned out to just be a dad wanting a replacement daughter.
For all the blood and guts, the games lack a bit of grittiness

I always assumed they raped Jolene herself(hence her calling all men monsters and mentioning her nutsack collection) and just took Danielle off to parts unknown, causing Jolene to lose it.
He'd probably get the David treatment before he did any real harm. The WD writers for both the game and show wouldn't have the guts to write something like molestation into the main plot as anything other than somebody describing it happening years ago with tears stopping them from finishing.

Somebody should tell Telltale that since Kenny's eye wound was only a hole with blood around it, instead of pieces of skin and brain popping out like a true M for mature game.

Yeah, Im not too keen on it on the heels of the Cluke and Clavier nonsense. Other than that, I dont see what it would really add. As has been said, those characters have been hinted at already. How would that even be handled sensitively?
There is implied rape in the games, even implied sexual harassment.
For example, there's that tape of that bandit woman when the bandits are plundering her camp and though we don't see it, she spits and calls them monsters and well, they clearly didn't kill her (and before you say, she killed them, you can see one of them with a gun walking up to her, they clearly had the chance to shoot her in the head so why didn't they?)
As well as this, there's also Molly who I guess you could argue was being sexually harassed since that creepy doctor was using her for sex to give her sister insulin for diabetes which is gross and awful.

I remember people speculating about Luke back then because he was just too sweet and perfect of a character, and understandably that made pe… moreople suspicious. In such a setting, being that sweet is suspicious, I understand, I am suspicious of Eleanor right now for the same reason.
But he is one of the few characters that I just immediately liked, though, so I could never really see him that way. I'm glad TellTale kept him as that beautiful sweetroll till the end, and his flaws were related to him sometimes not being very reliable in a tense situation (when he froze when we were trying to save Sarah).

Actually, none of those made me suspect him because that's the expected behavior in a situation like this (thinking someone might have been bitten but wanting to be sure before, well, killing them). It's actually kinda amazing that the group let Clem stay on that situation, because if she had been bitten she could cause everyone's death.
Being too nice during a zombie apocalypse is what is suspicious.

Completely agree with everything you said. Nail on the head

This fan base already has enough freaks shipping Clementine with men like twice, triple and quadruple her age. Lets not feed them. Please.
Actually, it was a pedo cannibal! Who copied who now?
...You know what, never mind. Not even gonna bring it up.
Don't feed the freaks! Make night time safe again!

Lee was like 37 and people shipped season 1 Clementine with him. I'm serious.
Well, I figured that out long ago. Now, I'm just wondering who else you could be talking about.
I do feel it's long overdue.

Kenny
The bandits from Season 1 were probably pedophiles. As they presumably raped Jolene's daughter
...Well, he is just about old enough, I guess. I think Carver would've been the better choice, though.
I always assumed they raped Jolene herself(hence her calling all men monsters and mentioning her nutsack collection) and just took Danielle off to parts unknown, causing Jolene to lose it.

Uh, can we not? That's an example of making your game suitable for wider audience being a good thing.
I never said that the lack of gore was a bad thing. I'm fine if they want to appeal a wider audience, I just hope they realize they CAN show more.
Perhaps.
Yeah, Im not too keen on it on the heels of the Cluke and Clavier nonsense. Other than that, I dont see what it would really add. As has been said, those characters have been hinted at already. How would that even be handled sensitively?
Now that I think about it, if anybody fit that criteria, it was John from The Last of Us.
John?
Who the hell is John?
Ah, meant David. Sorry.
I would feel uncomfortable if they introduced one..
I think some fans would be happy with that as long as he dated Clementine.
I've seen a few shippers on here hoping for a relationship between underage Clementine and people like Javier or Luke.

He still tossed Clem on the ground and locked her in the shed.
Then again, maybe that's even more reason to suspect him of being shady.
I also recall an unused audio where Ben says that the bandits raped their classmates and made him and his friends watch it.
