You do not have to be rude to @WalkerHH93 for simply telling us how he plays.
They are not saying that those who make decisions based on what they themselves would do are wrong; yet you make them feel like they are wrong for being able to sympathize and understand the protagonist, and make decisions according to that.
Cool. No one asked you how you played, why are you suggesting we take our Clem glasses off and stop making our own choices? Does it bother y… moreou so that not everyone likes playing a choice based game in a restrictive manner so they can pretend to be a new character they might not even like to begin with.
I don't have Clem glasses, I don't even know what they are, I've got a nice pair of Aviators though. And I'm not going to pretend to be this poorly written farce of a protagonist, I'm literally only here because I want to see where s2 continues to, and I could care less about whether the new protagonist and his family survive or all die horribly. I'd actually prefer the second so we can focus on the more interesting aspects of the New Frontier group and leave the telenovela behind.
It all depends on who will be the one to kill them, if the death is even an option. If Javi, killing Badger is sort of justified, if not other factors will be added in Ep3, but with David realism and logic would make the decision more complicated.
It's Javier versus his own brother, his own family. His wife and children have accompanied him four years and they more likely shared valuable and tough moments. I don't know about Kate, but Gabe wouldn't let it go so quickly, and judging by his reckless action, he might even kill Javier for killing David.
I don't think he got angry because of the road block off. Because he calmly explained to Javier that there were cars blocking the underpass. And then didn't give a shit about the van
Oh, is that so? I must be thinking of a later scene then, cause I'm pretty sure there was a scene he suddenly got mad and started to roll up on Clementine when she made a smart comment, causing Javier to get between them. It's been a good while since I've touch the second part, but I recall it feeling like it came out of nowhere.
His reaction to Conrad dying is normal I guess... Who wouldn't be angry when losing a friend.
Agreed.
Kenny had a backstory I think. He is from Florida, met Katjaa abroad, travelled on boats, etc. The episodes were too short to actually cover backstories. We will learn about Tripp in the future, probably.
I know, right? I really am at a point where I wouldn't mind either some quick exposition about who he is and how did he get there or just demoting/killing him in favor of focusing on giving Eleanor some much needed screentime.
Yes, I am tired of Kenny types, too. I would like to have another Lilly, actually! Poor Lilly - she is very misunderstood.
Agreed. I mean, I know why they had to do her like that and at the time, it was fine but the original plans didn't go through and as a result, she ended being a retroactive example of someone who got a raw deal because of Kenny. A fair number of people were really hoping she'd return in "Season 3" to get her due and I've grown to agree with them.
I agree that TellTale treated Mariana terribly. She deserved so much better. When Badger shot her I was like "I am coming for you, bitch." He is just the worst, man. I can't wait for Javier to destroy his skull.
Well, she did get (determinate?) burial and probably doesn't even realize she was killed, so she at least got a better deal than a lot of characters. I mean, if anyone was gonna get shot, I do think she was the best candidate for that purpose, but I don't like what that's amounted to so far. And I just DOnot care for Badger at all and I seriously hope they manage pull something out of their ass to make him interesting since they spent over 60% of that recent trailer on him.
How can I actually put another profile aside from the avatars?
If you have a Steam or maybe an XboxLive account, you can save the picture of your choice as your profile pic there and then come back here and click on the appropriate option to set the picture as your profile pic here.
You know, It's good to see that Javier has fans. Poor guy recieved so much hate for just being the playable protagonist.
Yeah, that was always gonna happen though: a new character in an acclaimed series becomes the protagonist instead of the fan-favorite character that previously had the role and getting mixed, if very venomous reception because of that. For what it's worth, I think he's a pretty okay if not good character in his own right, being a nice change of pace from previous playable characters.
But the one issue he definitely has is not having much of a personal arc or motivation. I mean, that trailer alone was so focused on hyping up a fight that so many people viciously wanted, but its against a terrible plot device that only showed up to make things worse over his slaughter of a character that, while likable and sympathetic, didn't have much screentime or to a lesser extent character to her beyond being the cute niece for her "hot" uncle to look cool talking to. What exactly is Javier's motivation beyond "you killed my niece, you son of a bitch"? That's not to say that isn't a perfectly good reason to want revenge, but why is it worth either apparently going against the rules in an extremist society or (definitely the better and more climactic scenario imo) staying behind in a dangerous location? Was he playing favorites with her for freudian reasons? Did he see a kindred spirit in her, perhaps even eclipsing his dynamic with Kate? Are there insecurities about her being the nicer, weaker sibling that he feels? We, the players controlling Javier, see them talk a total of two/three times and I don't think most us really got a feel of what kinda connection they might've had or what type of person he is deep down. And what exactly is his character going to be about when the installment is all said and done?
I don't think he got angry because of the road block off. Because he calmly explained to Javier that there were cars blocking the underpass.… more And then didn't give a shit about the van lol
His reaction to Conrad dying is normal I guess... Who wouldn't be angry when losing a friend. Probably he won't trust Javier in the future but we'll see about that.

With Badger, I don't have any hesitation in this situation. If David's got any sense left and finds out he killed Mariana, he'll be a good guy and agree. David's going to depend on how he treats people. If he's just the same old asshole who abuses everyone, then yes he's not going to last long. He also needs to own up to the terrible things his group has been doing. Eva is also going to depend on the situation. If she's the reason AJ dies, then I won't feel bad about it but if something else happens, I think it will depend.
Maybe it's because I'm used to longer running things and have been wanting a bigger recurring cast since before I played Season 2, but I kinda don't wanna kill them all off. However, if they have to die at some point in this installment, I suppose I'd prefer this going off what we've gotten so far:
Warning: Potential spoilers and speculation
David= Javier and Clementine or Kate
Badger=Javier and/or Gabe/Conrad (This is pretty obvious from the trailer, so not spoilering)
Max=Most likely walkers, but probably David
Ava=Clementine/Gabe or maybe Conrad(See stupid theories for this one) "Dimitri"=Eleanor/Tripp(If he is a noteworthy character, have her do something)

Some of the text in your post is white.
I dunno if it's just like that for me but white text against an off-white background makes me slightly uncomfortable.

Tripp: Great! This is just fucking great! What the hell are we gonna do?
Clementine: Calm down.
Tripp: Calm down? CALM DOWN??? I'm not gonna fucking calm down! Eleanor is out there alone right now!
Javier: gets between them
Yeah, this one was intense. He expressed worry with anger. But you are right - he didn't have to shout here.

I kind of hope she comes back. I heard that she was supposed to return with the RV at one point to Lee and the others. I wish that happened actually. Like you said, Kenny was the real culprit - he killed her father after all. Carley also insulted her and riled her up. Doug just defended Ben and didn't insult her in any way. She also felt regret when she killed him.
If she comes back I hope she doesn't steal the development of other characters (Kenny kinda did that in Season 2). A small redemption arc will be good.
And I just DO not care for Badger at all and I seriously hope they manage pull something out of their ass to make him interesting since they spent over 60% of that recent trailer on him.
We have no reason to care about him. But since he got a lot of time on the trailer TellTale probably will do something to make him interesting. For some reason I trust Max (the guy with the blue beanie). He doesn't seem like a bad guy and I think he will be interesting, too. I mean, like Jesus said, if he wanted to kill Javier and the others he would have shot them when they approached the gates.
I like playing as Javier. If we played as Clementine again it would get repetetive. I enjoyed playing as Lee the most, though. I actually like interacting with characters I played us. I would have loved it if Lee was alive and we interacted with him as Javier. (I would have made them bros for life haha )
I think we will find out his motivation as the story progresses. All we know is that he was a baseball player and wasn't there for his family. We didn't know what kind of person he was. According to David the father prefered Javier over him and he was jealous. Javier didn't seem to posess the trait "selflessness" before the apocalyspe. Losing his father, mother and uncle made him develop that trait and now he is ready to die for his family. He treats Mariana''s death as a personal failure. I think that he will help Clementine look for AJ.
I don't think he played favourites. If you ask me, Javier and Mariana seemed close. Gabe always seemed to be in a mood, while Mariana was sweet. The love triangle Javier/Kate/David really bugs me as well.
As I said I like Javier and I am looking forward to see what becomes of him as the story progresses. We. Need. More. Flashbacks. If I remember correctly I saw a tweet from TellTale saying that Episode 3 will be very long and It's worth the wait. I really hope so, too!

Oh, is that what it was about? Well I guess that makes sense. Guess it goes to show how fuzzy the memory can be--assuming I didn't go "who's Eleanor?" at the time and only remembered being confused.
I kind of hope she comes back. I heard that she was supposed to return with the RV at one point to Lee and the others. I wish that happened actually. If she comes back I hope she doesn't steal the development of other characters (Kenny kinda did that in Season 2). A small redemption arc will be good.
Kenny was the catalyst at least, but I was mostly referring to the trend of characters being shafted in favor of him/Jane: he gets to be a main character in TWO seasons and redeem himself(twice) and/or die with some dignity with a herd of fans in his wake, while she's just wandering out in limbo for two installments having crossed the line beforehand with a bunch of haters(not always for the right reasons) wishing her the worst. It doesn't change the fact that she snapped and took an innocent/ally's life, but still.
People have been speculation/hoping that she'll return in "Season 3" or rather ANF, since I believe it was teased that an old character may show up and the earlier promo material advertised the game as "Clementine goes to war(again)," so she'd be a fitting choice for that purpose.
We have no reason to care about him. But since he got a lot of time on the trailer TellTale probably will do something to make him interesting. Yeah, Max is definitely a just thug, who I hope(with not too much investment) gets some decent screentime and extra characterization in the next episode or two.

Yeah, Lee was definitely the best handled and unfortunately the one example that few of the successors have been able to match.

Mmm...seems like it. I hope they give him some actual focus to help develop those things.
I don't think he played favourites. If you ask me, Javier and Mariana seemed close. Gabe always seemed to be in a mood, while Mariana was sweet.
Yeah, I get that, but it's a little boring and a little too easy from my standpoint. In fact, I think that sums up my issue with Mariana herself as a character.
The love triangle Javier/Kate/David really bugs me as well.
Meh. Hoping they go into Kate's side of things more as well, since she's easily one of the most interesting new characters imo. I mean, I think I have it figured out already, but hopefully they won't trample on that too much by focusing more on the triangle itself.
We. Need. More. Flashbacks. If I remember correctly I saw a tweet from TellTale saying that Episode 3 will be very long and It's worth the wait. I really hope so, too!

Clementine only exists to suffer in TWD's extremely morbidly self-obsessed world.
At this point, Clem is a punching bag the writers can use in any way they see fit to capitalize on the many who still hold her to a standard of an endearing young innocent child that was well-written and not the blank-slate miasmic mascot she has now become.
Yeah, that's unfortunately where we've gotten. And if the little subtleties about her behavior, her stake in the plot, and the title card fof Epiosode 4 is any indication....

Sadness is a large part of many narratives, but much tension is lost once it's all we're exposed to for such extended lengths of time without any breathers.
I'm starved for some moments of actual levity and understanding of characters.
Cause as it stands now, TWD is one of the most glibly miserable post-apocalyptic ventures I've ever witnessed. Just death, vengeance, pain, and more death with nothing to grasp.

Yeah, I think that's ironically part of the reason Mariana and especially Badger are currently my least favorite among the new characters, since they're a primary testament to how shallow the story is so far; a sentiment that episode 3 trailer was almost entirely built on.
While admittedly a bit halfassed, Season 2 at least made a effort to have some nicer moments available with characters like Luke, Sarah, and Mike; so far, ANF has just had Mariana(who's somewhere below Jar Jar Binks's level of jarring) and Francine(who's somewhat better, but suffers a similar fate).

Yeah, Kenny and Jane get A LOT of attention. People probably still argue who was right and who was wrong. I heard that Kenny was originally going to die in the alley saving Ben. When they recorded it for the first time Kenny was struggling and screaming in pain while the walkers were chewing on him. It kinda didn't make sense because he just should have shot Ben(to put him out of his misery) and go with Lee to the Marsh House but PLOT
Do you think he should have returned in Season 2?
Lilly lost her father and It's understandable why she would snap. It doesn't excuse her for killing Carley/Doug, but people should put themselves in her shoes. If their father was killed like that in front of them, they would snap, too.
People have been speculation/hoping that she'll return in "Season 3" or rather ANF, since I believe it was teased that an old character may show up and the earlier promo material advertised the game as "Clementine goes to war(again)," so she'd be a fitting choice for that purpose.

Same here. I thought he was hillarious when we encountered him at first. Probably it was the line "Hey! You assholes in there! I got your boy!" and that one "You first. You getting ambushed by your people - that shit's gonna make my day."
Yeah, Lee was definitely the best handled and unfortunately the one example that few of the successors have been able to match.

I agree about Lee.
Yeah, I get that, but it's a little boring and a little too easy from my standpoint. In fact, I think that sums up my issue with Mariana herself as a character.
I see. They should have developed her more. I wouldn't call her a weak character - she seemed more of a man than Gabe XD. Poor girl She died without realizing what's going on... A lot of people wanted Gabe to get shot (cruel). I think he will redeem himself and be useful.
Hoping they go into Kate's side of things more as well, since she's easily one of the most interesting new characters imo.
She definitely seems interesting. I hope they concentrate on her, too. I hope Episode 3 redeems the previous ones.
They made Ties That Bind in 2 parts because the episode was too long (Are they joking?). It would be silly if they focused on the triangle.

Well, when you point a gun at someone and stupidly assume it won't kill them when you actually fire it, and then expect a complete stranger to drag himself into your mess by lying for you, I think it's fair to evaluate that the individual in question is trouble. And that's not even mentioning her getting involved with The New Frontier in the first place.
Okay, just wanna start by saying I saw the PM earlier but I rarely check it to begin, so I apologize for that. It's just easier to answer posts in their threads unless it's a quick and/or very personal question. Now then...

Personally, I think they were both out of line at one point or another, but Jane was definitely in the wrong at the climax itself and Kenny, while definitely dangerous at that moment and a borderline unlikable bossy-guy beforehand, had an definitely noble goal in mind that he just alienated everyone in his desperation to accomplish it.
Anyway, yeah, Gavin Hammon did say that he recorded the audio but one of the sound directors contacted him and let him know they deleted(?) it ahead of time, obviously with small ideas on incorporating him in Season 2 or another installment.
Do you think he should have returned in Season 2?
Okay, funny story: I actually really thought Kenny was dead...until I went on TVTropes's Season 1 Character page; I had been reading everyone beforehand's entire list and then I got to him, only to be confused about why he had a grey beard and a bandage-eyepatch and the very short spoilered description under his normal one explained that Clementine finds him alive in Season 2. I have no idea how I went that long without discovering that even indirectly, but some later source I don't recall implying that he was gonna be a world-weary mentor figure for Clementine got me interested in his role a bit. That's not what happened....
Around the time I had the ability to go out places on my own(aka by Spring of last year), I began looking into various games to play over certain periods of time and finally learned that Season 2 had came on disc; around the time I got the interest to finally experience it for myself outside of random and often vague tastes on the side, I learned that apparently people were really annoyed with his return and what it meant for the Season's original material. Of course, me being me back then, I wanted to keep an open mind on what that alluded to and just play the game myself...now I see what they meant.
So, with that out the way, while I think they should've gone with the mentor idea to keep him as an interesting supporting character like he should've been, I've thought about and learned a few things that help me realize that it probably would've been better if he had stayed gone. The way he "canonically" went out is a main example of why I loved this series and bringing back the way he was really did kinda shit on that(and his own testimony on what happened doesn't help). Instead, he was asspulled into the spotlight and derailed what was supposed Clementine and the Cabin Group's story into being about him and how far the group will go under his bootstrapped leadership.
Hmm I think they had a positive relationship, but Clementine witnessed her killing Carley/Doug, soo probably you're right. But as I said, I think Lilly can redeem herself. I wonder if they'll bring her back... They forgot about Christa, too...
I think it would've been interesting if it was Lilly who came back instead of Kenny, as the combined criticism I and others have about how Kenny was overplayed/flanderized and his relationship with Clementine wasn't very developed due to him being the [undeserved] focus would've have been much of an issue with Lilly, as she departed in the middle of Season 1 with comparatively little being developed around her and her hidden depths, including her understated bonding with Clementine, leaves a lot of room to avoid the issues Kenny had.
I do hope they bring her back at some point if they continue the series past ANF, as she's just kind of stuck in a creative rights limbo at the moment with her exit being a great hook. As for Christa, not to get your hopes up or anything, but they've teased potentially doing something with her or another character a few times before ANF came out, so that's something to keep an open mind about.
One of these successors you're talking about is Vince, right? I am not really familiar with 400 days crew, but I've seen comments where people say that they like Vince's story the most. He killed someone to protect his brother and was convicted (something similar to Lee's story). I know Bonnie is a playable character in 400 days.
Which other successors do you mean/have in mind?
Well, the 400 Days crew only got roughly 10 minute scenarios to their names, so I realize alluding to them as well isn't really fair. With that said, here's my general opinion going off the one time I played it:
Vince's story was alright, even though the setup is a somewhat blatant rehash to the beginning of Lee's story, it includes Justin, and has it's results locked to a single choice; Danny was cool though and the dialogue and timeline significant was pretty good.
Wyatt's was an okay genre homage on the side, but I don't really like him or particularly care whether he and the obnoxious but admittedly decent Eddie ever got back together.
Russel's is an afterschool special that happens to fit into this universe better than Wyatt and Eddie ever did, I found him to be really sympathetic despite his snide attitude and people seem to really like Nate, so that earns it some definite points.
Bonnie's scenario is probably the most interesting in that, unlike everyone not named Russell, she actually has a backstory given, the context is comparatively complex in terms of why everything goes down the way it does, and there's a lot of neat carryover aspects to it, though I could've gone without seeing what happened to Dee.
Shel's scenario is great in how it understands what the game series was about(unlike Wyatt) while still feeling very unique in it's setup; Shel herself is by far my favorite of the characters despite having the middling amount of characterization, Becca is remembered for how bratty she is, the dilemma with Roman is so morally testing in the right ways, and the continuity nod of the Cancer group's presence was a clever cherry on top.
Meanwhile Clementine is just short of good due to feeling like she lacks personal drive despite(or even due to) having an established personality and Javier, while a fun change of pace, is a bit lacking in "personality" in the story arc sense.
> I think he will redeem himself and be useful.
In my eyes, he already has and just needs to make it more official.
> She definitely seems interesting. I hope they concentrate on her, too. I hope Episode 3 redeems the previous ones.

Gotta love how even though she's known Javier for about 5 minutes, attempted to steal from him and has done nothing but cause more issues for him and his group, Clementine still expects him to take a huge risk with his own nephew's life just to help her...I mean, like, what the fuck? How selfish can one person be?
Hell, I'm not even a huge fan of Clementine, at least since season two anyway, so I'm not devastated or anything that they ruined her, but any likeable traits she did have seem to have been neglected just to make her some edgy, Jane-esque type character. It's piss poor writing, really, especially for those that did not have Clementine go with Jane, meaning she has no reason to be behaving the way she is.

Not sure where this train of thought originally came from, but apparently Jane(as the opposite of Sarah) was supposed to be an example of what Clementine could become in the future. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case here.

You do not have to be rude to @WalkerHH93 for simply telling us how he plays.
They are not saying that those who make decisions based on what they themselves would do are wrong; yet you make them feel like they are wrong for being able to sympathize and understand the protagonist, and make decisions according to that.
And it is also quite entitled.
I don't know about Kate, but Gabe wouldn't let it go so quickly, and judging by his reckless action, he might even kill Javier for killing David.
flashback to baby formula for AJ we've never found
Oh, is that so? I must be thinking of a later scene then, cause I'm pretty sure there was a scene he suddenly got mad and started to roll up on Clementine when she made a smart comment, causing Javier to get between them. It's been a good while since I've touch the second part, but I recall it feeling like it came out of nowhere.
Agreed.
I know, right? I really am at a point where I wouldn't mind either some quick exposition about who he is and how did he get there or just demoting/killing him in favor of focusing on giving Eleanor some much needed screentime.
Well, she did get (determinate?) burial and probably doesn't even realize she was killed, so she at least got a better deal than a lot of characters. I mean, if anyone was gonna get shot, I do think she was the best candidate for that purpose, but I don't like what that's amounted to so far. And I just DO not care for Badger at all and I seriously hope they manage pull something out of their ass to make him interesting since they spent over 60% of that recent trailer on him.
If you have a Steam or maybe an XboxLive account, you can save the picture of your choice as your profile pic there and then come back here and click on the appropriate option to set the picture as your profile pic here.
Badger.
So... par for the course in being a member on this forum then?
Maybe it's because I'm used to longer running things and have been wanting a bigger recurring cast since before I played Season 2, but I kinda don't wanna kill them all off. However, if they have to die at some point in this installment, I suppose I'd prefer this going off what we've gotten so far:
Warning: Potential spoilers and speculation
David= Javier and Clementine or Kate
Badger=Javier and/or Gabe/Conrad (This is pretty obvious from the trailer, so not spoilering)
Max=Most likely walkers, but probably David
Ava=Clementine/Gabe or maybe Conrad(See stupid theories for this one)
"Dimitri"=Eleanor/Tripp(If he is a noteworthy character, have her do something)
Some of the text in your post is white.
I dunno if it's just like that for me but white text against an off-white background makes me slightly uncomfortable.
Boy, wait until you play Ace Attorney.
That's on purpose to hide potential spoilers for the future.
Well regardless of Badger's intent/mindset, when I play the episode, that aluminum bat is going up his ass.
Ah, that scene!? They were on the roof and there were a lot of walkers in the area. They either had to wait or fight their way through.
I'd hope so.
Yeah, I get that, but it's a little boring and a little too easy from my standpoint. In fact, I think that sums up my issue with Mariana herself as a character.
Meh. Hoping they go into Kate's side of things more as well, since she's easily one of the most interesting new characters imo. I mean, I think I have it figured out already, but hopefully they won't trample on that too much by focusing more on the triangle itself.
It better be.
Ye ik I was joking
Alright then. Just remember common courtesy next time
I don't see what made so many people go like "Fuck these guys!" from the new trailer; can someone explain? I either watched the wrong video or I'm missing it.
Because they took AJ for an unknown reason and potentially hurt clem. Granted that now days anything bad or negative against clem is wrong apparently.
Oh calm your tits, it's just a game.
This thread is about a game.
It isn't exactly great when the fourth wall is broken on a forum dedicated to discussing a particular form of fiction, Kray.
Anyone up for a David vs Javier on the roof of the slaughterhouse? Someone falls into a herds of walkers at the end of the fight?
Yeah, Kenny and Jane get A LOT of attention. People probably still argue who was right and who was wrong. I heard that Kenny was originally going to die in the alley saving Ben. Do you think he should have returned in Season 2?
Lilly lost her father and It's understandable why she would snap. It doesn't excuse her for killing Carley/Doug, but people should put themselves in her shoes. If their father was killed like that in front of them, they would snap, too.
Hmm I think they had a positive relationship, but Clementine witnessed her killing Carley/Doug, soo probably you're right. But as I said, I think Lilly can redeem herself. I wonder if they'll bring her back... They forgot about Christa, too...
Same here. I thought he was hillarious when we encountered him at first. Probably it was the line "Hey! You assholes in there! I got your boy!" and that one "You first. You getting ambushed by your people - that shit's gonna make my day."
I agree about Lee.
I see. They should have developed her more. I wouldn't call her a weak character - she seemed more of a man than Gabe XD. Poor girl She died without realizing what's going on... A lot of people wanted Gabe to get shot (cruel). I think he will redeem himself and be useful.
She definitely seems interesting. I hope they concentrate on her, too. I hope Episode 3 redeems the previous ones.
They made Ties That Bind in 2 parts because the episode was too long (Are they joking?). It would be silly if they focused on the triangle.
Your absolutely right which is why were on a gaming forum to discuss the game.
Which other successors do you mean/have in mind?
Well, the 400 Days crew only got roughly 10 minute scenarios to their names, so I realize alluding to them as well isn't really fair. With that said, here's my general opinion going off the one time I played it:
Meanwhile Clementine is just short of good due to feeling like she lacks personal drive despite(or even due to) having an established personality and Javier, while a fun change of pace, is a bit lacking in "personality" in the story arc sense.
> I think he will redeem himself and be useful.
In my eyes, he already has and just needs to make it more official.
> She definitely seems interesting. I hope they concentrate on her, too. I hope Episode 3 redeems the previous ones.
Ditto.
And when you try and save your family member from a crazy desperate man, (even if the choice is really biased and stupid) you get "You fuckin' traitor" line from Clementine.
What have they done to you Clementine? I don't recognize you at all!
Gotta love how even though she's known Javier for about 5 minutes, attempted to steal from him and has done nothing but cause more issues for him and his group, Clementine still expects him to take a huge risk with his own nephew's life just to help her...I mean, like, what the fuck?
