I would say Clementine looks half white half black getting most traits from her mother. She seems she's got light hazel eyes which came from her mother's side.
Telltale seems to like female black characters overall since they put a lot of them central to the story.
Well, imo, the family photo of Clem and her parents always looked to me like Clem's father was black and her mom was Asian of some sort...even when TTG said that she was only black, she always has looked to me like she mixed.
If both your parents are black and you come out with asian complexion, then it's pretty fucking weird. People are just questioning how that happened; I think they have a right to.
It's what people are implying. Both her parents are black, but somehow she is magically Asian and the only reason people say that is because her skin color is apparently not black enough for people.
Clementine's complexion is not the same as Chris Brown's or Beyonce's, though. It would be a fair argument if it was, but the reason why this topic keeps coming up is because many people share the same view, that Clementine has an unusual complexion for someone with 2 black parents. I don't think it's a case of ignorance.
People who keep saying her mom looks "asian-ish" have obviously not been around many black people.
African Americans come in every shape … moreand shade, just because she's very light doesn't mean she's Asian or mixed
Chris brown, raven symone, Beyoncé, micheal ealy, there are many lightskin black people who have two black parents
For what it's worth, the game's art director is Asian, and he based Clementine's character design in part off of his own daughter. As a result, she has some Asian features.
Telltale has said African-American in the past, but I believe they've also said mixed, and now Melissa has said Afro-Asian. Truth be told, I don't think anyone over at Telltale ever decided what the hell race she actually is. They probably just said "Clementine is Clementine, end of story"
I thought it was obvious she is black. Just that she is a lighter black compared to Lee. I also think TellTale confirmed that she is when Season 1 was coming out or finished. Why would most confuse her for being Lee's daughter if she wasn't black?

If you don't mind me asking do you know who said she was African-Asian? Because I've seen a lot of people say a staff member said so but they haven't been able to give any sources.

I have seen lots of people like Clementine with origins from the Carribeans.
But they usually had a mixed family from African, Native American, Chinese, and very little bit white ancestry.
Clementine looks like a mixed girl of all.
I think Telltale used the American 'one drop rule' race classification, wich means one drop of African blood makes you African American. No matter there is Asian or white ancestry, with one small drop African blood you will be totally classified as Afro American.
For example: Tiger Woods is half Afro American, half Thai. His mother is a full Thai woman.
He is never described as Asian American, Blasian or Afro Asian, but Afro American!
And no matter you are 25% African and 75% European for example, in the USA you will be classified as black or Afro American.
Most of the Afro Americans are mixed anyway. None of them is 100% African.
The more light skin they have, the more mixed ancestry they have from Europeans, Asians or Native Americans.
That's not true, the more light doesn't equal the more white, Africa is a very diverse continent with many different colors and skin tones, a black person doesn't need any amount of whiteness to be lightskin

Sorry to tell you, but very true. Just do a study about the genetics of Afro Americans.
You can find academic studies about this on the internet. None of them is 100% African.
The average is 80% African, 20% European. Some have higher or lower amount of white blood and some have significant amount of Asian or Native American blood.
But this is a different topic:)
And Beyonce has confirmed distant French and Native American ancestry by herself before...there you go with her light skin!
Clementine is just confirmed African American with pressumably some Asian blood.
Anyway, who cares what she is.
Clementine is cool anyway.

People do realize that Melissa has zero creative input right? I mean she didn't help design Clem did she?
No. She's just a voice actress that happens to work with telltale. So what Melissa says about Clem's race is entirely her opinion and not a fact.
Melissa Hutchinson said so
http://fanfest.com/2017/01/03/walking-dead-cast-247-the-walking-dead-a-new-frontier-melissa-hutchison/
Listen to the audio she says it at around the end I think. Not entirely sure

'Telltale seems to like female black characters overall since they put a lot of them central to the story.'
Wow is this bad?
I see Telltale likes Ethnic diversity.
At the beginning a black protagonist, second season a mixed race child, third season a Hispanic man.
As far I know the characters from most of Telltale games are white. Just the walking dead series has all different ethnicities from the world.
Perhaps in the next season we will play an Arab or Scottish person
The bunch of game characters are white anyway.
We already have dozens of Lara Croft look a like women.
I would say Clementine looks half white half black getting most traits from her mother. She seems she's got light hazel eyes which came from… more her mother's side.
Telltale seems to like female black characters overall since they put a lot of them central to the story.
the shape of her eyes and the way her mother looked in the photo on the mantle made me think that maybe Clem's mother was Filipino or something or possibly central or south american.
Now, I do i agree with you that she looks mixed. I just happen to think that she is either mixed with Asian or central/south american.
"This led to changing Clementine's race from white to African-American, as to give her the appearance of possibly being Lee's daughter to other characters.[1]"
Ok that was just Melissa's guess. I would say she is of mixed heritage...I looked up Blasian in the ole Google and came up with pictures of… more various actresses and (gasp) normal people who are Blasian. First off....very beautiful people. Any number of the ones I saw could play Clem in a live action version of the game.
It is officially unknown until such a day that Telltale officially puts out a news release saying one way or the other. Her skin tone has changed at times in the series.
Now if I was too judge by looks and lord knows that is always tricky..I believe she is a combo of African and Japanese.
Consider her cheek bones and chin African, the sharp cut to her jawline...more Japanese...and the nose...the eyes are more Asian. Height can be a misleading indicator, not every Asian is short...nor is every African tall. Skin tone is more light caramel, but that too is not a good indicator as it fluctuates in the series.

She is a light skin black girl. I have seen many of them, hell even dated a few. But if she is Asian than she looks like she has either more of Korean or Chinese features. But I heard that the guy who designed was Asian and based Clem off his daughter. So anything goes lol.
I'm suprised by these comments. It seems that nobody has seen a light skinned black girl before. Judging by these comments a black person needs to be extra crispy to be black lmao.
Guys she's a light skinned black girl get over it.
I think point is you just choose what race you imagine clem to be. She seemed white in s1, Asian/white season 2, and Idk season 3. They say … moreshe's black but the only time she actually seemed black skin color was in s3. Shes been all race skin colors, all opinions are correct.

She has no creative input so you can take it with a grain of salt. Reason she looks asian is cause the guys design her character was asian and based her off his daughter.
Yes, it's true she said it in an interview, I would suggest listening to the whole thing because there is a lot of important information abo… moreut Season 3.

Hong, a lot of Afro Americans appear light skin because they are mixed. They all have white blood from slavery times.
And many blacks have Chinese genes from long ago. Because in the past many railroad workers were Chinese men without women and not be able to have relationship with white women. So many of the Chinese men got relationship with black females or creole women.
Lot of Afro Americans aren't even aware of this anymore.
I'm suprised by these comments. It seems that nobody has seen a light skinned black girl before. Judging by these comments a black person needs to be extra crispy to be black lmao.
Guys she's a light skinned black girl get over it.
Mixed girl you mean.
I am mixed Asian myself and I see lots of common features inside Clem with East Asians.
Clem looks like a Carribean mixed girl with Afro, Chinese, Spanish/Portuguese and Native American blood.
I have seen many of Clem's type in this area.
But people always talk about being black, if you have a small single drop of Afroblood. Even if just 30% African genes, people still call you black.
Tiger woods is an example. He is always called afro american in media, but the fact is he is Blasian. His mom is Thai, his dad is Afro American.
Like we are doomned to be called black with just small amount of real Afro genes according to the outdated racist American one drop rule.
I'm suprised by these comments. It seems that nobody has seen a light skinned black girl before. Judging by these comments a black person needs to be extra crispy to be black lmao.
Guys she's a light skinned black girl get over it.
I believe this one more than I believe the blasting thing, I know the wiki isn't the most reliable source but they always update the site when new info is leaked and clem is still down as African American and ed is still down as her real father.

I didn't understand how this was a question.
Lee picks up a pic of her parents in the first episode and it's clearly a black guy and an asian chick.
Melissa Hutchison confirmed in a podcast that Clementine is a mix of African-American and Asian.
Clementine is definitely African-American, perhaps mixed. I actually really like this post someone made comparing Clem to her mother: Clem definitely has her skin tone and her natural hair.
I don't get why people are packing a tanty over her ethnic identity... it may be a bit of a shocker to you but just get over it

Nope. Looks Korean to me. I'm mix myself and I can tell you IF she is part asian she has more Korean features.

She has no creative input and many people in TellTale constantly said she was African American.
So you're saying a black girl can't be light skinned? I have met many who are.

You're grasping at straws mate.
