I really like it so far. I was sort of bummed that you don't get to control Clem but as I think about it, it's sort of neat. It's like we sp… moreent 2 games leading her and now she's been on her own for the past several years and we can't control her anymore, she's become what we and her circumstances have made her and we have to step back and see who she's become. Clem is still my favorite, the more she's in it, the better. I would love to see more interaction and contrast between sheltered Gabe and Clem, though I do not want any relationship to form between them. Just want to see more of the differences of Gabe getting to be a kid still for all those years and Clem having to grow up much faster.
I don't even have the game. I watch others play it (I'm not big on the money spending on games unless I'm REALLY hyped to get them).
And … moreno, I wasn't disappointed before it came out. I was annoyed with the fan base being so hyped up to see Clementine again and then ending up pissed that they see more Javier instead.
Honestly for real synergy and flow, season 3's protagonist should probably be Alvin Jr.
Course that would mean a very big time skip, and they don't wanna outpace the comic, what I heard.
If that is the argument made then they should've made that clear during S2 and ended it differently. They ended S2 in a way which it was hea… morevily implied your ending/choices of S2 would shape the next season. To me ANF is the result of telltale opting out of making a legitimate S3 and just pandering to newcomers who are not accustomed to they're story formula.
I don't actually think Lilly will ever come back, because in a mobile game based off of the comics, in the story missions you have an option… more to shoot Lilly. I think it was at the prison during the attack... but I don't remember getting the option, If i did though, I just shrugged it off and thought it was someone else named Lilly.
Worst game ever? I've seen worse but i really don't blame those venting their frustration. Paying the same price (or more) as season 1 for this game with less quality in every way certainly pissed me off
The intent was for it to be the same character but then Kirkman created his novel series about the rise of the Governor and it became someone different.

Honestly, yea. It seemed like a very sudden shift within a month before release when TT started making it clear Clementine was going to have a much diminished role, only revealing she was playable in flashback scenarios via the steam and Amazon preorder pages. Admittedly I was pretty excited during the E3 reveal, seeing an older Clementine and a new partner, and happy to be continuing the story. It was probably my most anticipated release last year, and it ended up feeling completely disconnected from the previous seasons, having nearly every callback written out, with Clem as less of a supporting character and more of an occasional guest star. I vastly preferred the more personal stories in season 1 and 2, ANF kinda just feels like they're telling the story about how the NF group exists and has people.

ANF is good, just not as good as the first two seasons. Javier is a likeable character, just not as likeable as Clem. The plot is good (so far), just not as good as season 1. You get the point. ANF is really good but doesn't compare to season 1. I've played season 1 about 4 or 5 times and I know I'll play it again. I only played ANF twice and I'm not feeling like playing the episodes again, not for awhile. Also, I'm not sure if its just me, but it kinda annoys me that people call it season 3. Its a different story like Michonne and doesn't deserve to be considered "Season 3"

The price! I didn't release that, while consistency is usually good, that it's same as it was in the very beginning! I just bought the disc collections of Season 1(with 400 Days) and Season 2 when they came out at Gamestop.

I try NOT to compare A New Frontier with Seasons 1-2. That just ruins the experience of the game, as it isn't even really part of the first 2 seasons of TWDG.

Because I look at every detail of each and every Walking Dead Game! I have watched and played the first two seasons, and I haven't gotten around to buying it because I don't want to waste the money.
Also; I'm not sure if you know this, but I'm a heavy theorist when it comes to the Walking Dead games. Most of my threads are based on theories. And I also tend to look at things in all ways possible, and that's how I develop my opinion.
Also, if that ain't enough, think of it this way; you DO NOT need to buy or play a game to experience it fully. Just like you don't need to be an actor in a movie to get the whole experience, or have to be an actor in a play or a singer in a song, to experience it. Simply being there is enough, and the same goes for video games. Sure, playing the game gives you a better feel of it yourself, but it only really gets you the experience of playing it for yourself and understanding what the gameplay is like. Other than that, videos of said video games can provide you with enough of an experience to know WTF you're talking about.
And, considering the content of this thread, NOBODY even NEEDS to play the game to know if they're disappointed in it or not. Just simply watching can be enough.
And yes, you did sound like a dick and you should learn to word things differently. No offence taken, of course, but it still souds hostile.
Yeah, I'm a tad bit disappointed in what they did with Jane. Like, I would've been a lot happier if she would've died trying to protect Clem.
Kenny died that way, of course, because he's a "fan favourite". But then they gave Jane the worst scenario possible and now people are bashing on her because of it.
I lowered my expectations and episode 1 and 1.5 did still disappoint. Reminder that pregnant with lukes baby and kills her self is still the resolution of jane.
I cant judge if episode 3 is at my expectations as i am unable to play it
An hour is not short..... Batman: The TellTale Series episodes were that "short".
It's only an hour, peeps, and if you remember most of that time was cut back due to the extra things that were cut out. Like, back in Seasons 1-2 of The Walking Dead, there were A LOT of details in the game that made Gameplay almost unbearably long.
After being blown away by how awesome Telltale's TWD Season One and Two were in my book, I had really high expectations. At this point, TWD … moreS1&2 became my favorite game of all time next to The Last of Us. That was early 2016. Never played any other Telltale-game tho, so I didn't know Telltale's quality dropped down over time and their top-writers left the ship long ago.
The release of ANF shattered all my expectations. Poor game-performance, a new engine that changed the look of the whole game for the worse and - most importantly - very poor writing with super short episodes. So yeah, "disappointed" is a very light word to describe my feelings on this franchise.
And Javi is NOT a cliche. In fact, I haven't seen a story like his in any Walking Dead universe. He's stuck with a family he never deemed to have enough time with and now he's forced to make amends, and he want to make them because he feels guilty after what happened at the start of the apocalypse. Y'know, with their father and whatnot.
Like, I would've been a lot happier if she would've died trying to protect Clem.
Agreed. I actually thought Kenny's scene could've fit her better when I first saw it.
Kenny died that way, of course, because he's a "fan favourite". But then they gave Jane the worst scenario possible and now people are bashing on her because of it.
Dude, many of us were "bashing" her looong before ANF was even a thing for lots of miscellaneous reasons. This only increased the number and gave another reason for some.
Yeah, I'm a tad bit disappointed in what they did with Jane. Like, I would've been a lot happier if she would've died trying to protect Clem… more.

Yeah i paid the same price as S3 so you can see why i am disgusted. I would have been satisfied if this game had been as good quality as S1 was but alas! They shorten the episodes to an hour and have so little to offer compared to the effort they put into S1

Tales was a fun light hearted story and i enjoyed that about it but as a game i did not. I felt the gameplay was limited at times, and episo… moredes weren't as long as i'd have liked but Tales was certainly not the worst.
I just can't enjoy their games anymore. Not after how brilliantly they made TWD S1
Sounding like a dick or not...you really have no say. Put up or shut up as the saying goes...I paid my cash....not disappointed...but not blown away by the season so far...needs to be longer...needs more Clem...and yes I do understand this season is about introducing new characters...but they could have done that without relegating Clementine to the sideline.

Not really, he's already done that, he's done that for 4 years. And we never see any of it happen. We went from him being a deadbeat who couldn't be bothered to be at his fathers side as he died to someone who's spent 4 years taking care of his brothers family, I'm pretty sure that covers the making up for being a deadbeat arc, you really can't start something like that this long afterwards lol
I'm not disappointed by anything, but I'm unsure about the length, and wish it'd be a few bits longer. I enjoy playing as Javi and seeing him more than I do Clem, at this point. I certainly don't wish for any less of him. The idea of who Clem is now is pretty clear, while still being shrouded in appealing mystery. I like it. My only worry is that it may end up feeling like the season ended too soon, without enough time with Javi.
Javier TRIED to get there before his father died, REMEMBER??? ._. But because the apocalypse was starting and people were trying to get out of the cities and whatnot, he was held up and he RAN all the way to his home to see his father.

No she hasn't. There's no difference between any Clems.
No, I just accidently posted something in the wrong thread.

SO you didn't buy the game and didn't play it? Why should we care about what you have to say? Not trying to be a dick but seriously.
Honestly for real synergy and flow, season 3's protagonist should probably be Alvin Jr.

Really now? How odd. I might just have to look into that.
What?! Oh, what the fuck, man?!
It is a different Lilly.
The intent was for it to be the same character but then Kirkman created his novel series about the rise of the Governor and it became someone different.
If badass is the new poorly written cliche, then Javiers the most badass of them all.

This is most amazing description of this game!

Agreed. Different subtitle anyway.
What is it?

They're also telling Javier's story as well. In a sense, if you think about it, he's trying to make up for the things he's done in the past.
"Above the Law" isn't even out yet, mate....

Apologies, but don't get your hopes up too much.
I was leaked on Xbox Live last week and some people already got their hands on it.

I know, but now they have even more reason to bash her, and to make her seem worse than Carver, in some cases.
Shit, dude. I forgot about that.
But I only thought one guy had gotten the leak!
Fair enough. Thank you for asnwering.
Yeah, isn't that fascinating? Carver is supposed to be the Main Villain and a Complete Monster, yet Jane is somehow more deadly and reprehensible.
It was a number of random people who saw it show up available for download. There were/are some videos somewhere online if you want early spoilers.
I DON'T. Hence why I flagged Clemenem's comment. There shouldn't be spoilers of the third episode out FAR before release.
Ah, gotcha.
