If you ask me, the cabin group was full of completely idiots.
I liked to play Season 2 just to enjoy the development of Clementine and the drama with Kenny.
But hell no the Cabin group is more interesting than the Garcia family. And I like Tripp and Conrad.
It is clear to me now who the Garcia's are and I can't wait to learn more about them.
Especially David got my attention.
Pete, Nick, Sarah, Carlos, Rebecca, Kenny, Walter, Luke, Bonnie... all had pretty clear arcs. They weren't always completely fulfilled but they were there, and sometimes its more powerful for an arc to be left unfinished in TWD universe.
Tripp - 3 eps in and I can't remember one single memorable scene with this guy. He just seems to exist.
This one I'm definitely agree with.
Kate - doesn't seem to do much but continue to flirt with Javier no matter how many times he hints he's not interested.
Gabe - chump.
Sigh...moving on.
Eleanor - Gets close to the main character straight away without any build up.
Can you explain this one to me?
Javier - this guy is still too much of a blank state to be the main character. Out of the 3 (4 including Kenny ) main characters he is clearly the worst. He has a bit of a character arc yeah, but it's not enough for thee main character.
Yeah, he definitely still has a bit of Vanilla Protagonist Syndrome going on.
Only character I can think of with some kind of arc is Conrad and my mans arc wasn't done well at all. He went from good guy to bad guy, back to good guy at the speed of light.
Yeah, admittedly one of the issues with the episode is how they didn't really milk the whole "Clementine as a "hostage"" subplot for what it's worth. He and Clementine don't even speak to each other from what I've experienced.
Kenny, Jane and Clementine's arcs were more than enough much less characters like Sarah, Arvo, Rebecca and even Luke had a clear arcs compar… moreed to the current characters in season 3 so far. I don't see anyone having an arc so far in season 3.
Tripp - 3 eps in and I can't remember one single memorable scene with this guy. He just seems to exist.
Kate - doesn't seem to do much but continue to flirt with Javier no matter how many times he hints he's not interested.
Eleanor - basic ass character again. Gets close to the main character straight away without any build up.
Gabe - chump.
Javier - this guy is still too much of a blank state to be the main character. Out of the 3 (4 including Kenny ) main characters he is clearly the worst. He has a bit of a character arc yeah, but it's not enough for thee main character.
Most of the new frontier characters have just been introduced. Only character I can think of with some kind of arc is Conr… [view original content]
an intended arc is an arc that never happened...there are no arcs in S2. Nor is there a real plot or story in s2.
No consistent or complete ones anyway, aside from maybe the three I listed about anyway.
And Carlos definitely changed his tune regarding Clementine; it's just that he has such scant screentime and a case of Never Live It Down to contend with.
Depends how the last 2 episodes will be. My opinion is that S2 was saved by episode 2 (a house divided) which is by far the best episode in … moreS2 and has the same quality as S1 episodes. ANF must hit at least a home run in the last 2 epsiodes to surpass S2.
"Right now, A New Frontier feels a lot more like the original season."
Yeah those 45 minute episodes lacking hubs, with their total focus on action scenes, no puzzles and little to no character developement REAALLLY take me back to season 1!
Nah right now I prefer A New Frontier honestly. Season 2 got rid of the best characters way too early like Pete or Walt and some of the char… moreacters amounted to literally nothing. Right now, A New Frontier feels a lot more like the original season. I have problems with A New Frontier but I find myself thinking more about the flaws Season 2 had and how vocal this forum was when the episodes were released.
It really is like a random week in Clementine's life. Sure, a lot of stuff happens in that week but ultimately nothing of importance beyond where Clementine ends up.
It's funny. Despite its shortcomings, I still adored season 2. The environment, the characters, the pacing, the music (especially the ending songs), the fact that Clem was the main character - I remember being so excited whenever a new episode was out. Watching it download on my old PS3, heading out to make a sandwich and coming back downstairs to see it ready always brought a smile to my face Maybe it's a bit because season 2 was my first experience with having to wait for each episode to come out, so the novelty was still there. But I'd be damned if I didn't say that season 2 was one of my favourite video game experiences of all time.
ANF? It's just not the same anymore, and I think it mainly has to do with the characters. They've got a decent premise with the whole community scenario, but I couldn't tell you one damn thing about any of the newbies this time around. As others have said before, they're pretty bland and uninteresting for the most part. David and Ava still make me slightly invested, since I still think there's a lot of potential with those two.
But if somebody like Tripp were to suddenly die in episode 4? Or Kate? I literally would sit at the computer and just be like, "Ok. Whatever.", which sucks because that was one of the awesome things about this series. You actually cared about people before, and you wanted your favourite characters to make it as far as possible, and would feel crushed if there was nothing you could do.
ANF is still worse honestly. S2 had potential, in my opinion, to be even better than Season 1 but mismanagement, awful rewrites, pointless choices and that lack of any planning made it turn to shit half way through.
That all said, S2still had the potential to be a great game. ANF doesn't even have that.

Sorry. I forgot I'm not allowed to have an opinion on this forum unless it's with the majority. And 45 minute episodes? Seriously? Season 2 had short episodes, lacked hubs, there were practically no puzzles whatsoever, all the characters died without barely knowing them at all (looking at you Carlos). So yeah. Season 2 is wayyyyy better.

I agree Season 2 is full of pricks.
Hell I felt frightened to be Clem in episode 1 of Season 2 after she lost Christa.
Kenny was the best thing she met again.
And I am glad my Clem did go with Kenny in the end of Season 2.
No matter he died in Season3, Clem got a good 2 years with AJ and she had a protective father figure with Kenny. I am sure she was less lonely with this ending than the other endings.
As others have said, I'll have to wait until the season is complete. I didn't like "In Harm's Way" that much when I first played it, but there was a lot of interesting setup by the end of it, and the stage seemed set for some really cool developments. At that point, there was more good than there was bad about Season 2. Then the next two episodes came out and plunged the entire season into depths so far that it nearly woke up Cthulhu.
I will say that I quite enjoyed "Above The Law", certainly moreso than I did "Amid the Ruins" and "No Going Back". Not without its flaws, but it finally drew me in and I liked it a lot more than the first two episodes. Much like IHW, there's some pretty interesting setup going on, but it remains to be seen what the rest of the season will do with it.
Although A New Frontier has so far been one of the most tenuous and boring pieces of video game narratives I've ever experienced...
The crowning jewel of shit I have to say still goes largely to season 2 simply because of how pervasive it's disregard for the player, the characters, the continuity, and the everything else became by the time the puerile, pessimistic, and sickeningly glib finale No Going Back reared it's head and with it, the final nail that would seal the game's fate as a timeless collection of video game dead ends and retreads... Along with an addition dozen just to drive that point home all the more intensively.
As it stands now, I still can't see ANF sinking as far as S2 did with it's narrative.
I didn't like "In Harm's Way" that much when I first played it, but there was a lot of interesting setup by the end of it, and the stage seemed set for some really cool developments.
Honestly, the achilles heel of that episode was that it had so much setup, hype, and expectations for it that it was doomed to completely failed to deliver on.

Oh, is that who Jane tried to bargain with...?
I will say that I quite enjoyed "Above The Law", certainly moreso than I did "Amid the Ruins" and "No Going Back".
Ooh...thats...that's tough. I'll have to think about that one just a little bit--I agree.

A big part of that is how often I replayed the first three episodes of season 2, in between I was using the (sadly now missing) rewind function to revisit favourite scenes.
With A New Frontier, I've enjoyed the episodes but have felt absolutely no desire to replay them. It's as if the passion for the project has gone from Telltale.

As someone who loves S2 almost as much as S1, yes, I do think S2 is better than ANF. Does the season have problems, yes, but I believe some tend to be over exaggerated or blown out of proportion by S1 elitists who think everything about it was perfect from start to finish.
I consider S2 a fucking masterpiece if comparing to ANF.
We all know S2 wasn't perfect ( EP4, Carver potencial wasted, etc ), but at least I had a good time playing it. I had interest in some characters.
Can't say the same for ANF.

Yeah, if anything, Season 2's characters almost always had so much baggage to their existence that, whether you loved them or hated them, there was at least plenty of [untapped] room for development and discussion. Unfortunately, most of ANF's cast is either just generic archetype/trope without much to make it interesting/deconstructive or potentially complex characters who suffer from being sidelined and/or overshadowed by controversy. Poor Gabe in particular is a bit of both.
The thing that bothers me is that if you listen to Kenny and stay at Wellington, there is still the chance that Kenny is alive somewhere out there and you still have Kenny's cap for AJ.
However, with the cheap way Telltale literally got rid of Kenny, they irretrievably lost a lot of my sympathy-points.

Season 2 gets pretty unbearable near the end, ANF has had bad moments but ep3 was pretty good and the game isn't done yet. Too early to say but it would take a lot more shit to be worse than S2

Yes there is a chance Kenny would still alive if you chose Wellington, but I wouldn't care anymore. This will make a different Clementine. 2 years in a settlement without Kenny.
Perhaps this is the wisest decision for Clem's and AJ's life development, but I still like the Kenny's ending most. Kenny was like real loyal family.
Exactly my thoughts too. Cool

Agreed?
Season 2 took a massive nosedive and for the most part I did not enjoy it, ANF could prove to be much better. We'll see.
"Right now, A New Frontier feels a lot more like the original season."

So far? Yes. I like Javier and the other characters more than 95% of the cast of Season 2.. but Kenny, Clem and AJ will always be above them.
Me too.
Oh god, that is perfection.
Pretty much.
Damn. Is there anyone you liked from that Season?
yep

S2 was a failure. First two episodes weren't bad but then awful 3rd came and turned everything into sh**.
In my opinion, TNF is going same direction. Becomes less interesting with every new part. It's not a time for final verdict.
Telltale has a serious problem with quality - can't keep a whole season on decent level.
Nope.
I kinda see ANF already sank so low to the point you can't even see it anymore.
At least Season two had interesting and not cliche characters unlike Season thre- I mean spin off series New Frontier.

Okay, so basically, the most immediately relevant ones. Got it!
I really disliked season 2, so I think S3 is better. Though S1 still is my favorite.
They were nothing
