Who would you save in the moment? Clementine or AJ?
Hey everyone,
I'm fairly new on this forum so I've probably said stuff here you've heard a thousand times before.
Most of what I'll be talking about can be picked apart, as it is almost completely incoherent towards the logic of ANF (and the various settings within it). This is more of getting an idea of what you guys will say and choose thematically, and not meant to be seen in a too realistic light.
--- Anyway down to the point ---
I've been thinking about this for quite some time now, and this is something I think is way too dark for TellTale to use as a choice both currently and for future TWD games. Lets imagine there is a forced moment where it is in a very claustrophobic area - For example; A room in a abandoned mansion where the characters have been taking refuge (Much like the mansion in s1). The three characters present are Clementine, AJ and Javier. The character we'd be playing as would be (in this argument) Javier. This room is set out as a bedroom type, with a bathroom that has a big hole from one of the sides through the tiles. On the other side of this hole goes to the outside balcony. Due to some loud noise the walkers would eventually invade the mansion, using the hole in the bathroom of that bedroom as a way out (due to walker horde eventually making it through the front entrance). Clementine, Javier and AJ try to escape by using this hole to the balcony as a way to traverse to the other side of the mansion, to safety. In doing so they realise that the horde has made it to the balcony by climbing up using debris. Javier secures the bathroom door shut temporarily, blocking the incoming walkers who make it through the hole, into the bathroom. Clementine puts AJ in a corner near the other door of the room. She tells Javier to let her secure the door so he can save AJ by finding another route out (while delaying the horde that's coming through the balcony). All while this is happening the other horde of walkers that has made it through the front entrance are coming closer to this room, almost making it up the stairs.
The player would be given a choice with a timer at this moment to either;
'SAVE CLEMENTINE' Grab Clementine off the door, dashing to the last resort of safety (which is to the attic, which has a window that can be climbed down to the other side), while doing so without letting Clementine pick AJ back up. If doing this the horde burst out of the bathroom and AJ dies.
'SAVE AJ' Grab AJ and place him on your back (with support of your bag), and run to the attic. Clementine would eventually let go and the horde will kill her.
Undoubtedly there are many faults with this scenario and I hope that this never happens either. Given the circumstances I would like Clementine to have a better death than that, not forgetting character arcs etc. What I am ultimately saying is IF it comes down to a situation similar to this in ANF or a future game. I would have to save AJ as much as I'd want to save Clem after all these seasons, I couldn't just let a toddler die despite how Clem is my favourite TWD character. Its just fucked up. I know the scenario is extreme as hell, but I wanted to see if this kind of decision would change the biasness of choosing a option to please Clem. After seeing the Conrad decision its made me rethink what people would choose in a situation like this. Just want to see if there's any humanity in the choices here.
I don't know though, maybe this is the most stupidest idea I've ever came up with on this forum..

If this does happen, they're both dead in the new season anyway.
In the moment I honestly don't know who I would pick. Clementine would be pissed that I didn't save AJ if I picked her, but AJ is a small child who deserves to live longer. I think I would go for Clem.
You and %100 of players decided to save Clementine by using AJ as a human bullet sponge.
Save Clem, its always the correct choice. Not saving her means everything we ever did was a waste.
Clementine. Because if she dies, who will take care of him? The Garcias? That'll be an awkward transition. I also don't want to watch her being Kenny'd off in 1 minute. Sorry, AJ.
Fair enough, like I said I seriously doubt it will happen anyway.
I would save Clementine only because she's more useful. I never liked the idea of pets or babies in the apocalypse. Although they represent hope, I just see them as liabilities. I admit that my reason makes me sound like an asshole, but that's honestly how I feel. Getting knocked up or having a pet is a bad idea in zombie worlds.
Lee passed the torch down to Clem, who will pass it down to AJ.
Would it really be a waste though? Painful? Yes Gut wrenching? Yes But a waste? No,this is The Walking Dead...every one can die best we can hope for is a "good"death for any character. To be clear I don't want her to die, she is my TTG daughter:) But if she does they need to treat it as if it were Rick Grimes who was dying. An Epic death that has an impact on the whole TWD universe! Hopefully this is long from now....
Clementine. To me there's very little reason to care about AJ since we've seen so little of him.
This whole passing of the torch mentality is quite pointless when you think about it. A line of passed torches that ultimately serves no purposes and ultimately makes the sacrifices pointless other than to continue the cycle.
id save AJ, letting clem go would kill me, but this is a baby were talking about...
Nah. Lee passed the torch down to Clementine, and then some jerk stole it gave it to Javier for some weed.
Clementine would never forgive you if you saved her instead of AJ.
With ANF Clem, she'd probably kill you..
Or kill herself out of grief, so you wouldn't save either of them.
if there ever was a choice like that it would most likely be a fakeout where if you pick Clem then AJ really dies but if you pick AJ then you just hear clem screaming offscreen like Kenny and she would come back in later episodes or seasons.
let the time run out we will see what would happen
let the time run out
It'll probably just go to GAME OVER or something if you don't choose, especially in a choice like this.
A walker out of nowhere would spawn behind and kill. You know Telltale, "if you can't force 'em just spawn a zombie behind 'em" classic.
ah telltale and their classic teleporting walkers.
AJ. What kinda question is this anyway?
Right up there with the "if they can't make a choice, just leave/shoot em."
Clem
AJ, obviously.
A) If you don't give a shit about future generations, then you might as well off yourself now because what's the point of living if humanity has no future?
It's what clem would want anyways.
Clementine...
Although, considering how moronic and stupid she's acted so far this season, what with her "sneaking" into hostile territory with a sick and crying infant in order to steal medicine while people were only but 10 yards away and her being a general nuisance. I'd almost consider AJ over her at this point.
Don't tell me how to do my job. I'd realistically save AJ cause that's what Clementine wants.
I'd save AJ, he's a child and can't defend himself. There's no reason for me to save Clem, she can take care of herself now.
Save the baby. Always.
I'd save Clem. I (and Javier) know her and have loyalty to her. AJ is a stranger (and plot device). Plus AJ would be likely to die without Clem anyway.
Save AJ. He's a baby and can't really do much, so It's probably better to raise him so he knows how to survive. If he made it up until that point, it's better to keep him alive.
Now before you say "But Clem is TWD she can't die, it is my duty to protect her" No. It was Lee's duty to protect her. You have no obligation to protect her now. As Javier, she is just a survivor who just so happens to help you on your travels because she'll get a car out of it. Javi's duty now is just to help her. She can handle herself fine. She don't need protection. [Also, there is no one person who defines TWD. Clem is just lucky to be the first plot point that ties the opening seasons together. TWD is TWD. It's the world itself and the situations that happen in it that define what it is.
Plus, I doubt she'd be happy for you saving her over AJ and it'd just be one of those choices where she'd hate you for the rest of the season, probably Telltale's way of driving the point home.
Just sayin'.
I feel clem would want AJ saved so.... I'll have to go with AJ.
If that situation were to happen, I feel it would be like in S1 when you had to chose between Shawn or Duck and the only difference was you getting yelled at by Hershel or not.
If you chose to save Clem she would go back for AJ and be upset that you would let him die or you could save AJ and she would still live and appreciate what you did.
I don't think Clementine would ever forgive you for letting AJ die. And I think she wouldn't really want to go on anymore either. You took her only hope and crushed it.
Hard as it would be, I think I'd take AJ. For both of their sakes.
