"Uncle Javi, something strange happened to me... my mini-Gaben grew today. What should I do?"
I'd image that's what the level of ineptitu… morede would be reached to present something as "groundbreaking" and "interesting" as talk about puberty would go to with Gabe.
Of course, he'd also have that constant face of constipation while talking about it.
Most normal parents have the sex talk with their daughter, and that includes their period. I really don't understand the fans on these forums - a couple of months ago people were wondering if Clem knew about puberty and sex, Telltale answered that question, and now everyone is complaining as if it's this disgusting, unnatural thing that's happening to her. Clem didn't know why she was bleeding, and like you pointed out: we are basically her father, and we were able to have "the talk" with her (sort of). What's more fatherly than that?
How on earth is something that happens to all women "weird"? Please, if you're going to hate on the game anymore, find something that actually makes sense to complain about.
I'm not hating on it completely, but it just seems like a weird thing to show ya know? Plus, considering that most people look at Clem as a daughter, most dads I think don't like hearing about their daughters first period. That's how I feel.
The general focus on this Season was Family and how much fucking drama there is in Family shit. Hence the Period discussion. and tbh when my cousin was deployed I had almost the same interaction like Javi and Clem between my niece and me.
but I feel like their relationship should have been more fleshed out to be completely honest.
We get it - you hate Clem. Why play a game that the main character is someone you hate? No matter what Clem does (big or small) you will always find a way to complain and hate on her. Telltale put this scene in to show that Clem is still young and innocent even after all the shit she's gone through. What's so bad about that?
No more so than a contrived scene of a girl who has suffered more than we will ever know inappropriately asking for assistance on finding maxi-pads because she's having little cramps in her pelvic region.
Stuff like that should be kept offscreen for me. It doesn't fit in a zombie apocalypse story. A love interest, fair enough but puberty, sex and periods? It's outside the scope of the story or at least should be.

Yeah that was another problem I had with the situation. Given the shorter episodes, they shouldn't be wasting time talking about stuff like periods. The episode was too shipper heavy anyway. Really dragged it down.
Has the game sincerely lost all fucks to give?
Why the fuck do I as a player give two shits and a fuck about Clem bleeding out of her vag… more? What does it do to propel the story forward or deepen the characters' interactions to go out of the way to make a character like Clem who has been beaten, shot, clobbered, nearly frozen, nearly eaten, nearly murdered go "owwie, my girly parts are cramping up..."?
Git gud at writing, Christ.
I understand that point, but it's refreshing to hear the characters in The Walking Dead actually talk about this stuff because there are children in your group. Throughout every other form of The Walking Dead (all have children in it) they never once talked about things like this, which doesn't make any sense, especially if you have to teach your 8-year-old child how to kill. In 4 years of the apocalypse, Rick Grimes taught Carl how to shoot a gun, how to survive, and how to kill other people, but he never told Carl what sex is (though Lydia obviously showed him anyways). Same goes for Clem: she needed to learn somehow and she finally did.

Can't even voice an opinion without everyone getting butthurt anymore, I just find it funny that a stab victim has to find Clem tampons because she can't find them herself even though she was rummaging through the room herself for an assumedly long time. So again, she's an idiot and can't so anything herself and needs to bitch about more dumb shit.

Anything is a start, even if Episode 4 is a bit late. Who knows how Episode 5 goes? Don't want to throw Season 4 but if that were the case, with both Javi and Clem, we'd have a solid starting point for their relationship to develop.
Clem: Do you think things will get better?
Lee: I guess so...
Clem: Okay.
Didn't they had another talk about "hope" at… more school the 2nd time you talked to her?
"did you lick it?" exchange. Was there any good reason for that line of dialogue to have happened? Does it reveal some unseen complexity or depth? Not really, it's just a funny line, and nothing really more.
Wasn't that talk supposed to present how things were calm and comforting... before you know... the eating and the killing.
I don't exactly know how pads work but don't you need to.. Y'know? Illegal in most parts of the world to view something like that apart from the Philippines. I'M OBVIOUSLY JOKING BUT PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO GET A JOKE WILL LAUGH
When you were talking to Kate about that kind of stuff in episode 1 I called this moment would happen to clem at some point. Maybe not in this season but at some point, and we actually got it.
I seem to remember some user(s) jokingly saying "what if in s3 you have to find pads for Clementine?" a long time ago. Well it seems like Telltale listened to that.
Yeah, I'm cool with this scene but the problem is people have started to sexualize Clementine before and after this scene. (Not gonna give o… moreut any names.) And their excuse for doing it is that Clementine is a bunch of pixels.
Which is true, yes. But it is pretty fucked up because I view Clementine as a daughter. And seeing people talk about her this way just makes me despise the forums and the people who say all that fucked up shit.
And Gabentine isn't helping either. I'm honestly getting sick and tired of it.
Cause it was the opposite of natural, much like the rest of the episode.
Javi: "I just got stabbed..."
Clem: "I'm on my period."
Javi: "Lemme grab the supplies to stitch up my arm and get you some tampons little snowflake."
Clem: "Lol, it's good you were here to grab me stuff that I more than likely rummaged through seeing as though you came in on me already looking through shit..."

Oh my goodness, you're right! Guess she should've stole more watches so she wouldn't get rusty.
Whatever, enjoy the game.

I guess there really is no pleasing anyone on this site, huh
They could probably take S1, swap some character models and release it, and … morepeople still wouldn't like it
It really feels like we're getting to a point where people are just being blindly vitriolic towards the series at this point. But that's just my brutally honest opinion... you know, the same thing none of you have any problem putting out there on a very consistent basis
She didn't know what a period was, so why the hell would you assume she knows what a tampon is/does? She didn't ask for tampons, but Javi was generous enough to a young woman who had no clue what was happening to her body. She can't do anything herself? Have you been living under a rock? She's been doing almost everything on her own, dating all the way back to Season 2.
Whatever, enjoy the game.

Knowing how babies are born is completely different than knowing what sex and periods are. Also, the scene explicitly stated she doesn't know what a period is:
I started... bleeding. I know it's a thing. I've traveled with women before, and they all had it. What is it?
When you give her the tampons she gets confused as to why Javi gave them to her. She clearly doesn't know much, only that it happens.

I had no issue with the scene. Only thing I ever wondered is why Javi told Clem to talk to Kate about it and not Eleanor. Yeah, both could give her the basics, but Eleanor could give her the basics and medical advice. It's nothing major, but I would think Eleanor could give the most advice.

I'm not saying I loved the scene. I'll admit, I did find it a bit weird but at the same time it's not a good reason to hate on the game. It's rated M for a reason.

Did someone say Gaben?
LUL nice zoomed in face on Javi I'll give you that one.

I highly doubt it's a solid start.
We're not exactly there for the detail and depth, though. We're there for the story and, like the salt lick scene, the comical effects.

Agreed. Kate's offhand joke about it adequately filled the "quota" for me, thank you.
Oh my goodness, you're right! Guess she should've stole more watches so she wouldn't get rusty.
Deltino... thanks. You said it way better than I ever could, but my feelings exactly.

Clem apparently knows how babies work.
The scene also doesn't even say that Clem doesn't know what periods are, it just says she's having a period.

Well, you got me there.
Either way, it's a dumb misplaced scene that's not even cute or funny at all and kind of does feel like blatant fan service.
If that was supposed to be fanservice, people who absolutely loved it clearly need to ask themselves more questions about their sexuality.
I think he was repeating after you.
You said, "I hope I'm fucking wrong."
and he replied with, "Yes, you are fucking wrong."
I don't think he was being mean or anything.

Yeah, good point actually. It would've made her presence more relevant and added some points to the "betrayal" at the end, too.
Holy shit...girls...get periods!!!???
FUCK YOU TELLTALE!!! HOW DARE YOU SHOWCASE NATURAL NORMAL THINGS!!! Pfff....assholes.
I suppose you have a point but Javi was probably thinking "Who's a grown woman she could talk to..." and Kate was the first one that came to mind.
For all you "Gabes" out there: Read This

Dude, you won everything!
