Clementine and Gabe sitting in a tree

Ok now that was one of the most forced romance stories I have ever seen. The two had virtually no dialogue together, spent virtually no time together accept for a couple scenes and now they're a budding romance.

Sounds to me like this is just a way they thought of to keep Clem in the story for any future games. She'll escape with Javier, Gabe, and whoever else survives the next episode and if there is another season after this Clementine will either be pregnant or she will have already had a kid of her own.

  • Over dramatic much pfft.

Kids play cards, and talk to one another

"They gonna fuck! And Clem's gonna get knocked up"

    enter image description here

  • People are complaining about a romance when they've spent no time together but that's exactly what's happening! Spending time together not fucking each others brains out! They were playing cards, not spin the fricking bottle!

  • The whole thing just seemed incredibly forced. First they start off with Clementine having to ask what the bleeding is supposed to be about (which is pretty silly considering she traveled with Christa all those years and everything else she has had to do).

It just wasn't good storytelling. It's obvious at this point that they just don't know what to do with Clementine.

  • It's obvious at this point people just want to rant. If this happened in season 1 people would worship that scene. Hell if anything from season 1 happened here people would shit on it. Sad thing is that isn't much of an exaggeration.

  • To be honest, I enjoyed the period scene because it reminds you Clem is still a kid in the end. It also makes you feel like a parent/guardian when you play.
I was okay with Clem and Gabe playing cards together. It was a nice moment but I don't see them doing anything to further their relationship as friends (unless Gabe tries something funny).

  • Hate to say it but this season just hasn't been very good. There is very little direction and purpose in the story and the characters all seem to be wondering aimlessly .

  • (Remember this is just my opinion) This season's been spectacular. Even episode 1 and 2 for all their faults was good. And it seems to be getting better every episode. It's great, better than season 1 in some ways. If people don't see that I can only assume that they're just so salty about Ties that Bind that they refuse to see anything good about the game even if it's right in front of them.

  • I feel like Gabe's turning into his father which is not a good thing. I'm not supportive of their relationship as I don't think it will end well with Gabe probably doing something stupid asf and getting himself killed or something...

  • The writing is so good though...

  • I honestly don't see anything wrong with that. It's an appropriately awkward type of response to an awkward situation.

    Yeah, "awkward" is underselling it.

It was far more awkward for me as a player to have to endure such awful dialogue than it was for Javier to have to tell a grown man to "follow his heart" and give him relationship advice while having to worry about saving his brother from being executed by a hostile community, all while the clock is ticking.

  • Clem hates David, Gabe's Dad, whom Gabe loves btw. Clem sees how Gabe acts and treats others, practically the same way David treated Clem (irrational and unreasonable). And yet she likes Gabe (she's not romantic with him, but the writing is all over the walls). What!? Forced relationship is forced.

  • Gabe can be a jerk most of the time, but I still don't see a problem with all that 'Gabentine' situation. And you guys need to chill. That was just cards.

  • Yes. But some people here like to deal with periods and cards in the most overreacted way possible.

  • I can see your point. Clem is starved for socializing with kids her age. Everyone can get like that even if she won't admit it because of her tough girl persona. However, I just would find it more believable if she hated Gabe over his fascination for his Dad and the way he acts like him from time to time. These characters got history and I want them to discuss it, not brush it over for feel good moments.

I really don't understand why you people are so freaked out about this. Really, aside from that time when Gabe was playing cards with her I didn't see anything that would suggest Clem feels anything more than sympathy towards Gabe. They only really talk like 3/4 times through 4 episodes, and in one of these conversations Clem can be a real savage just flat out refusing Gabe's pistol (then a little bit after she clearly takes pity on him and says that "having an extra gun couldn't hurt").

Hell, even that scene where they're playing cards is just so fucking normal, yet people are acting like they were playing strip poker or something lol. Like wtf, Clem can't have fun with another person unless she wants to ride them? geez. It is really obvious that Gabe likes Clem, but I really doubt Clem has any romantic feelings towards him as of now.

  • Honestly who cares anymore? As if anything has to make sense to happen in ANF.

  • And it's true, which makes it funnier and sadder at the same time.

If this happened in season 1 people would worship that scene hahaha. That made my day.

  • That's a lie if I ever heard one. Gabe wouldn't even be the same character in S1 as he is in S3.

And it's true, which makes it funnier and sadder at the same time.

  • Everything in Season 1 is god-given, everything after is mediocre at best and most isn't even worth mentioning = how this fandom works.

Objectively, S1 is the most consistent, coherent, and better written season out of all of this.

I agree that most people are just overreacting (I was too at first). They were just being kids having a good time, it doesn't mean Clem has the same feelings towards him. She's just there for him as a friend, trying to help him out.

Besides, I'm sure Clem is weary about being in a relationship at this point after seeing how couples and love turn out dead in the end (Kenny & Katjaa, Christa & Omid, Rebecca & Alvin, Bonnie & Luke, Tripp & Eleanor, and now maybe Kate & Javier.) Plus the fact that Clem has seen so much more than Gabe and she hates his Dad while he looks up to him.

It's not like I don't agree, but that's still entirely subjective. It also doesn't mean that the new Seasons can't have good scenes and the first Season bad ones.

  • As long as telltale makes it determinate I don't care. It's not fair to force this crap on people that don't want it to happen. Clementine is still a playable character after all, so just let the player decide.

  • Some people hate their lover's parents but still love them, it has nothing to do with relatives it is all about relationships. So putting this into context: if you had a girlfriend/boyfriend and you loved them but their dad was a dick, would you dump them without giving it any thought? Besides, clem was willing to help save David so she doesn't hate him completely

  • Don't mean to sound mean but fans won't stop bitching and whining so I'd say it serves them right if Gabentine becomes a thing XD
