Every time Javi speaks Spanish?
All I know is "ay dios mio" when you ask Tripp if he ever shuts up. I don't really count Yaya as one, so... any other occurrences?
I've only played through ANF twice so I don't know any other time he speaks Spanish...

In Episode 1 when you check one of the cars for gas, he says "That's life" in spanish what means "Así es la vida".
He says "that's life" in spanish in epsiode one while in the junk yard
Muertos!
He also says "Nada más. Eso es todo".
I don't know if I'm more happy or angry that all of his non-muertos Spanish dialogue is determinant.
Given that his voice actor isn't Spanish, I'd personally go with the former
Español es impresionante!
Je ne parle pas espagnol
...a female gets moist.
Tripp: It seems that your moment alone with David screwed us pretty good.
Javier: Ay dios mío (oh my god).
Eh, not what I was implying, but sure! XD
This. David and I think Gabe are the only prominent Garcias this season who are actually Hispanic. Davids a bit more on point, though, he may be the only one fluent in both languages.
I think Mariana's VA also has a really weird last name, too.
On that note, I do like how the Garcia's and the Russian Group seem to have differing fluency in the languages, even if it's likely an unintentional detail.
Its all kinda a mess. He almost never speaks any real Spanish, and its just some guy who isnt Cuban doing the voice, so the few times he does say something in spanish it sounds off.
She was featured so little that I'm really only counting the Javier, Gabe, David and Kate in the group, though I always thought Kate might have been white or mixed so it didn't stick out as much to me. Marianna I believe had a Spanish VA, think I remember hearing that she was Spanish and at around a similar age to her character, same with Gabe. The diversity is really only a thing when they're accurately portrayed, it has kinda made me eye roll when they stress how diverse they are with their characters considering Javiers really Jeff lol
I wonder if Mari and Gabe were even related.
It could be poor graphics, but they don't look like each other at all in present time. I suppose they did in the flashback.
Yeah, I thought that two at first. Especially given that Kate isn't a very Spanish name.
Sounds about right. Gabe in particular sounds too authentic to be an adult.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Hell, Mariana looks more like Kate's sister than anything like David and Gabe.
MAMA
PAPA
thats about it
Huge missed opportunity to have David and Javier just arguing loudly in Spanish in the beggining of episode 4. Could've made it funny or interesting.
This.
In all seriousness, I didn't know Javi even said Papa at any stage in ANF. Well I'm deaf lol.
Is it me or does Javi just sound like a white guy?
Well the family is Cuban American, I'd have assumed that they were in America for some time considering Yaya could speak pretty fluent English but I don't know for sure.
You know, Javier's VA not being Spanish isn't necessarily a bad thing, when you think about it. I feel like what they were going for is that Javier's the more American-grown of the two brothers. Makes sense given the apparent age difference, as well. Javier was most likely brought up less native than David was. Probably ended up learning more English than he did Spanish.
I think there's some hints here and there that try to suggest it-- take how David pronounces Gabriel and Mariana. He's got that Spanish flair to it, while Javier says it the names more like you'd expect an English speaker to.
Of course, I'm a USA native, and I don't have any siblings, so I could just be drawing some really stupid conclusions here. You can be the judge of that.
Nothing stupid about it, I can see where you're coming from, but I think it's more to do with environment. I can't remember if they've disclosed ages but I never really thought of David as that much older, maybe a 4 or 5 year difference so I figured they probably would have spent much of their childhood together. David doesn't really have an overly accented voice, growing up in a Spanish household but attending an English school, which much of your social time and education in English. My father and aunt are the youngest of 5, but that's by quite a bit, and both came here at a very young age. Neither of my grandparents could speak English, and listening to my older uncles who didn't pick up English until later in life is night and day, it's not terribly broken English but they still revert to Spanish when they can't find the right words. Father and aunt, the Spanish is fine, and even in English they use Spanish pronunciations but the English sounds no different that most people native to this area. You end up with a mesh of what you pick up at home and what you've picked around other people when you're exposed to both at an early age.
Listening to Javier and Davids mother talk I got the impression English wasn't her first language, I don't think we hear the father talk but his little brother reverts to Spanish when he's in a state of shock during episode 1. Javier appearing to be so much less fluent in Spanish was a bit jarring after meeting his immediate family, but maybe he went to boarding school lol.
Well my brothers look nothing like me and I know for a fact we are biological so maybe that is why. Gabe must have taken more after his mother and Mariana after David, since Gabe doesn't look like David at all but I can kinda see it in Mariana.
It means what it means.
I...just don't see that. If anything, the other way around is a small issue I've had with Gabe's model since day one.
Mari's skin tone is like David's, if that is what you mean, hehehe.
Yeah that's one reason, but her head is slightly shaped like David's as well, maybe a slight bit of her mother's, who we haven't met
He says "Así es la vida" that literally translates into "That's how life is" fuck Javi leave speaking spanish to people that know how to fucking speak spanish and shut your fucking mouth
whoa, don't start francais here
we actually just cringe to death, btw
Maybe she was originally suposed to be her daughter, being only gabe's step sister?
francais that again and you'll regret it
He says Meurto all the time.
Possibly. It'd give Kate's attraction to Javier a little more fuel, though it would be a bit peculiar if Gabe rejected Kate but not Marianna.
How would that work?
Well it wouldn't be Mari's fault that her mother decided to marry again. Plus they're closer in age ir maybe their personalities are just compatible and they became Best Friends Forever
Funny.
Javi speaking Spanish is like me speaking English since I am not a native English speaker.
Even when he called the names Gabriel and Mariana did sound very fake.
Couldn't Telltale find a real Hispanic man the same age as Javi to voice act?
This would have felt more realistic since we have a lot of Spanish speaking peoples playing this game.
But anyway, I somehow am used to his voice actor today.
